One thing that strikes me in all of this is that Christians are the target of so much antagonism. We aren't the only people opposed to homosexual behavior, but yet that lifestyle is waived as a red flag to enrage Christians. The books are about good vs evil, so why not just leave it there. Why inflame Christians? Why not say that Voldemort was a Muslim terrorist? That would have incited some real anger towards her. It just seems to me that everywhere you turn, attempts are being made to make Christians out to be the bad guys.

1) How does a character in a book being gay diminish them? Unless of course, Gays are to be treated as a second class.

2) Anybody who claims that Dumbledore being gay in a book is an attack on Christianity and an attempt to persecute Christians (or something like that) is showing signs of a persecution complex. Really.

A gay person, by existing, does not affect you.

Um. A gay person, when you MARRY one, does quite affect you. I know.

Anita

If you don't want it to affect you then don't get a gay marriage. :emot-highfive::emot-highfive:

You do know that the story of "Harry Potter and the philosphers stone" has some similarities to the bible?

I'm not saying the Harry Potter books are good because they are actually really addictive for some strange reason and people love these books way too much to be healthy but i feel that they can't be insulted for their theme of witchcraft and wizardry and homosexuality.

The witchcraft and wizardry theme is only a bit of harmless fun, its not like wicca, it doesn't involve ordinary people practising wicca, and it rarely results in it.

I feel these books is slandered too much and is critisised too much. There are many other books in the world that could be slandered for doing much worse things but Harry Potter is singled out.

Again, I'm not saying the Harry Potter books are good, I just don't believe their as bad as everyone makes them out to be, i feel their undeserving to the slander that they receive.

You really need to open your eyes and heart to see how bad and dangerous these books are. Witchcraft and wizard theme is central to everything, just about everyone is a witch or wizard and practices magic. As for ordinary people, you missed point completely. The point is , Harry Potter etc ARE "normal " people, the book is based on and in the HERE and NOW. this is mainly why its so popular, people can related to the Characters as most are human. Children relate to poor Harry living with evil relations abused with no purpose in life, but suddenly being transported into a supernatural world that exists alongside the normal world, only people with the gift can see this world and the portals etc, Hogwarts express for example.

AS for being harmless, far from it,Witchcraft and Spell casting do not necessary come under WICCA, WICCA is jsut one form of the occult, I wont go on about WICCA but many people in WICCA often distance themsleves from OCCULT practices and say its not the same but it is. Any kind of magic is forbiden by God, Harry Potter does encourage children to try spell casting for real and leads children into occult, I have witnessed this first hand a number of times over the years.

These books are the tools of Satan and Satan is happy that so many children have become obsessed with the occult and supernatural which takes them away from God. Another way Satan is working with this now is to promote homosexuality is normal and acceptable, something that is disgusting to God.

What makes Harry Potter so dangerous is its popularity amongst the chidlren and adults of the world and many will turn to one of Satans many disgusting religions and cults that will lead them into all kinds of problems with demons and make turning to God even more difficult.

These books do encourage chidlren to get invovled with witchcraft and the occult,

That's the way of the devil I think. He wants people to believe anything but the Truth.

Correct and what better way to spread lies and entice people into the occult than via a popular work of fiction that just about every child embraces and loves.

Amen and Amen AndrewA, I could'nt have said it better myself..... :emot-highfive:

You can't just dabble in ungodly things .

And certainly you risk your children when you give them ungodly things or let them participate in such things.

Shalom Andrew,

AMEN!!!!

And this latest revelation just goes to show us that it is wrong to pollute our children's minds with these lies.

Another affirmation that we did the right thing as Christian parents not to expose our children, or ourselves, to this book which is an effective tool of satan.

There was no reason for the author to make such a statement unless she was pushing some "agenda" and I believe it is satan's agenda and always has been.

There may have been some monetary motivation as well. There is nothing like stirring up some controversy to sell books

Exactly

Look at Ann Coulter and Rush Limbaugh , those two must be honor graduates of the don rickles school of how to insult people and make money doing it.

A gay character in a book, simply by existing or that being unveiled is not an attack on Christianity.

If for example, someone published a book accusing all Christians of being genocidal racist maniacs, that would count.

Crying persecution if you see something that offends your beliefs does not count.
