when did i say otherwise bib? i specifically pointed out myself the scripture that no man comes to Christ but that the Father draws him.

not anything in what i posted at any time is contrary to a single scripture you just posted.

i'm bowing out now. it's been a stressful time lately, and it isn't getting any less stressful. in fact, on another message board today (not a christian one but the posters there know that i am a christian) i totally blew it for God by letting my temper get the best of me. i had to really apologize to God for letting Him down, and for not feeling sorry for the words i spoke over there. i hope God honors that. i know He wouldn't honor an insincere apology that i didn't mean, so i hope he will appreciate that i can only be sorry for being a bad witness for Him.

so i'm going to leave this thread because i really am not able to maintain control, and it's not your fault.

First, there is not predestination as people think. Salvation is offered to all to all mankind and there is no respect of persons with God. There are different offices that Christians will hold in the church, but all are the same in God's eyes.

The "Elect" that the bible speaks of is every single Christian.

1 Peter 2:9-10 But ye are a chosen generation, a royal priesthood, an holy nation, a peculiar people; that ye should shew forth the praises of him who hath called you out of darkness into his marvellous light: Which in time past were not a people, but are now the people of God: which had not obtained mercy, but now have obtained mercy.

That's a good question. Is salvation fair at all? Why are you saved and not someone else? What makes you better than the man in the street? WHy do you deserve salvation more than your next door neighbour or your doctor, or your bank-manager? There is no way to get around it - salvation is not based on merits, but on Grace. If you think you deserve salvation more than anyone else, then you have completely missed the point of Grace.

So No, salvation is not fair. It is in fact decidedly unfair. It has never been fair, and will not be fair. God, in his mercy, has chosen some of us to be saved. The question is not - "Why was God so unfair to condemn others", but rather "why was God so merciful as to choose me"!

God bless you LadyC, I didn't mean to stress you out but I am very defensive about my beliefs. If you say they are not biblical and I did not respond that would be a tacit admission that you were correct, and 'I believe' you are not.

LadyC it does not matter how we believe we came to our faith, it only matters that we are all here.
