Have you ever voted for a canidate who was not on the ballot?

I admit sometimes the choice on the ballots did not amuse me. I have voted for God as President Mickey Mouse for supreme court justice and many other characters instead of marking a canidates box i could absolutly not stomach. How many others have done the same? And who did you vote for?

I'm a Republican living in a Democratic state - my vote is wasted anyway.

Unless things change, I might just write-in "Jesus" for president.

a person with the attitude that if I vote for so and so, my vote is wasted so they end up voting for the second best or writing in a bogus (like Mickey Mouse) person (even if they are 100% authentic ( Like God and Jesus ) then their vote is wasted........

the first time around when Perot ran against the Reps and Dems, I took a bit of a survey.....

I asked people who they would have liked to see win the election......

the majority (about 50 % ) said Perot......

about 30 % said Bush.....

and about 20% went for the democrats.....

I then asked who they did vote for,

about 50 % said Bush....

30% said the democrat candidate.....

only about 20 % said Perot.....

so you see, just cause people think some one would not win, they vote off of what they want, and then we get what no one wants......

my mom voted rep, my dad voted dem in that election, both would rather had Perot win....

I am reg, rep and voted Perot, those in my house hold voted dem, even thou they wanted Perot (5 more votes that Perot lost, and lost them to another party that lost.....)

how many more in the USA, wanted Perot over the other two contenders??????

how many more votes could he have had? could he have won the election had people voted for the one they wanted in?????

mr&mrs, i didn't waste my vote in that election. i did vote for perot. it seems like i voted for him twice, actually, but my memory is a bit fuzzy from so long ago and for some reason i keep thinking he never made it onto the ballot the second time around due to all the threats against his family or something, and he withdrew. maybe it was in the primaries i voted the second time?

The one problem with your argument though is that as of right now, there is nobody I would "rather" see win the election.

I suspect I'll end up doing that at some point. By the time I'm allowed to vote the choices will be getting worse.

Thoughtful, I can appreciate your perspective. However, presidents are voted in by the electoral college rather than the popular vote. We've seen this demonstrated in the elections of 1824, 1876, 1888, and 2000. (Reference)

I live in a state which is a shoe-in for the Democratic candidate. The way I see it, my vote to an alternate candidate will make as much difference to the race as a dollar bill would affect Bill Gates' bank account.

So, why not vote my heart?

It isn't the people or the government I mean to influence with this. However, it would be a prayer and declaration of faith to the Lord for Who I want to rule this land.
