Have you ever voted for a canidate who was not on the ballot?

in the race between Kennedy and Nixon, you will find that there were only about 5000 votes ( popular) that kept Nixon from getting the election (by electorial)..... ( Nixon could have called for recounts and all that stuff too, but he did not, he stepped back and conceeded the election to keep from have a national problem as with Bush......

the thing is, even if the popular vote for the state goes to one peticular party, those in the electorial college, do not have to go that route.....they can vote off of what the state they represent does..... it is not common for them to vote off, but it has been known to have happened.....

for instance, Kansas is normally a republican state, but if all the popular votes go 60% republican, the electorials can, in fact, place the votes on the democrates, all or just part of them, so there can actually be a split vote for a state.....

I believe everyone that is legal to vote, needs to get out and vote......

if people do not speak up, then how is the government going to know what we want???? by osmosis????

vote for the least of all the evils.... let the candidates know you are not satisfied....

voting for Mickey Mouse really does not tell them much, other then you may not know what the issues are..... which obviously you do know the issues....

something else...... WRITE YOUR CONGRESSMEN AND WOMEN, AND SENATORS TO LET THEM KNOW WHAT YOU WANT..... WRITE THE WHITE HOUSE..... WRITE THE CANDIDATES......

I am not kidding....

I have written them expressing my thoughts about things, and how we (do not) support Israel, and how we need to do this that or other ( as a nation )..... about the hillary health care trash and so forth and so on... .even the govener of the state..... phone calls, emails.... and U.S. Postal system.... a telegram, maybe even a singing telegram might help......

they do not know what you want, unless you tell them.....

back in the 70's, liquor by the drink was on the ballet, and it was bro ught up in a letter to the govenor of Kansas, and when he got the letter, he recanted his support of it.... it got shot down then..... but he had been pushing for it, until he got one letter, from one person......

I ask each and every person here, weigh out the cost of every candidate and their platform, spend time in prayer and fasting, not just praying about the issues, but praying over each and every candidate....

let the Lord lead you to who you should vote for..... JUST VOTE........

I appreciate your thoughts, Mike - but I know my Maryland representatives. They're too hard core.

But the Holy Spirit lately has been directing me to pray for them - their salvation that is.

Folks I understand the seriousness of voting I truly do. But when I cannot in good conscious vote for anyone on that ticket but am compelled to do something I write in a canidate. Now many of you may not agree and this thread was supposed to take a more lighthearted view and to get people to thinking of why they vote and what influences them. So I am going to close this thread. If no one wants to take this thread in the vien it is in I would rather not start a war.
