Hmmn just another example of the honesty and competence of the civil service.

We hear regularly that "there is nothing wrong with the CIA's "interrogation techniques", so why would the CIA not send a copy of these tapes to the nearest television station so the public could see for itself just how benign these "interrogations" are?

The funny thing is that secrets and intelligence are supposed to be their area of expertise. How do you suppose the information got out that the tapes even existed? Whats worse is that once the news got out they immediately destroyed them. I think I would be doing a sweep of the CIA and eliminating (firing) those who had ANYTHING to do with this.

The CIA is a publicly funded organisation, supposingly existing for the benefit of the American people. It is insulting and dishonest to those same people to spend their money on something and then keep the fact secret from them.

If there is truly nothing that the American people would find objectionable about these tapes, then there is no reason for them not to be publicly aired.

By saying that any employees of the CIA who "leaked" information about the existance of the tapes should be fired, you are colluding with dishonesty and saying that CIA operatives can "interrogate" using as much torture as they like as long as they don't publicise the facts. And once that they are found out, it is perfectly OK to destroy any evidence.

this is much ado about nothing. It will fizzle. No one cares what they do to terrorists. Not saying it's right or wrong...just saying this isn't going to have any legs.

I still want to know about the tapes the Clintons destroyed concerning Vince Foster. That appeared to be a murder cover up of an american who was on their staff and who cares today? Do you really think Americans care what happens to captured al queda in a cuban prison?

Is torture nothing? Or is hiding torture nothing? I find both to be a tad alarming, personally.

But we agree that the ado will amount to nothing. Congress is too cowardly, if not powerless, to do anything. Our nation has reached the point where any and all abuses in the name of counter-terrorism will go overlooked, uncorrected, unpunished. Many people think this kind of thing is OK--I think it's as dangerous as terrorism itself. Many people trust that government agencies can function responsibly and intelligently with great powers and no oversight. I don't--and the Founders didn't either.

I expect the inteligence community to keep secrets. Thats what they do. It's also their task to obtain info that other nations wish to keep from us. I am less alarmed about this as I am about our leaders trying to pass bills in secret like the last immigration bill. How about our government trying to SELL our ports to other nations? As I said, keeping secrets is what I expect the intelligence community to do. Perhaps they should have made some dummie videos tomake everyone feel better. The fact remains that it is their duty to protect the citizens of this nation at any cost even if that means causing terrorists a little stress, discomfort and humiliation. Our inteligence meathods are probably the most humane in the world due to the amount of scrutiny and I do take comfort in knowing that our Government doesn't go any father than they have to to ensure our safety.

Secrecy exists in government. Corruption exists in government. Deception and manipulation are common forms of "art". This is why the less government the better. The less departments the better. The less programs the better. The government as a whole, and our system has been conquered politically, by 2 parties. We have been conquered economically (Federal Reserve). "We the people" are dictated by our system more than our rights. It has grown well beyond our rights. I've heard it said, "When the government fears its people, freedom exists; when the people fear the government, tyranny exists". As a nation, we are currently controlled in almost every area by our government, by some department and law. Goethe said, "there are none so enslaved as those who believe that they are free". We have become these people. Deception, manipulation and ignorance have seized control over our media, politics, economics, society, education, etc.. We are at the point of revolution and most aren't even aware of it, or fear it. Even if the CIA does torture, even if 911 was conspired, even if there is a Federal Reserve controlled by private families of the occult, even if there is a CFR and trilateral commission that developes agendas and goals without the knowledge of the people, even if our policians are members (which most of our current politicians are) without one vote casted by a public citizen; Our society is divided and blinded. Things are quickening to the end of time throughout the Earth. Satan and his demons have been at work to gain full control of all the nations and kingdoms of the Earth and are close to realization. Closer than most can imagine with limited knowledge. Everything is coming together as at the end of a funnel. Keep in mind, this is encouragement not discouragement. The trouble with this theory is that "a certain duration" is not normally only three years. And it is clearly destroying evidence of torture!

To quote from the article: ""It is a serious offense to destroy evidence of what may have been a crime scene".

Arrogance, lying and corruption is NOT "nothing"!
