I'd like to know if anyone has ever felt the call to do street preaching? If so, how did you do it and do you have any tips for someone that feels that God is calling them to this type of ministry?

if you believe you are being called to preach, you need to ensure that is exactily what God wants you to do....

you see, we each have a job to do, we all are called to do a specific job..... and stepping outside the bounds of your job that you are called to do, then you wil be held accountible for it....

some are called to be priest, some are called to be kings....

think about it.... when David went to retrieve the Ark, David took other people besides just the priest..... the ark started to tip, and an inocent man, unauthorized to mess with it, stuck his hand out to steady it, and well, that inocent man died because the kings was trying to be priest.....

the thing is, most people want to have the " glamorous " job of being the pastor....

we need the floor sweeper, the chief cook and bottle washer, the worker in the orphanages, those that tend to the sick, others that mend injuries, soldiers, we need those to comfort, and others to just listen... we also need many many many prayer warriors ( intercessors )..... we need prophets, evangelist, secretaries, even those that do nothing more then make copies, or pass out coffee.... there is also those that are needed to go around and scrup stools, clean sewers, replace light bulbs, install fans, replace tile.... we all can not be the pastor or preacher....

becarful about stepping out beyond what you are called to do, but do not fear stepping out into the calling you have been given...

Way cool, Asduke! Street ministry has always interested me, though I've never been called to do it. My husband and a pastor friend of his used to do it on the busyest street of our capital city. I also have a cousin who felt led to do it. I think it's a very high calling, and not one that God gives to many people ( unless of course we have some folks playing Jonah). You really put yourself, and your faith out there when you're involved in street preaching. God bless you, I'll be praying that The Lord will use you in a mighty way. Keep fighting the good fight, brother!

We have all been called to spread the good news. And the street is our mission feild, is it not? Just because street ministry isn't the only thing you do doesn't mean you can't do it! I try, but I'm to shy. I'm praying for boldness. Will you all join in with me? We need to reach these people. Pray for a boldness to talk to them and the right words to say.

I was asked by a group of young people at the YWAM base in hawaii to lead them in street ministry at the seawall in Kialua Kona big island on the week ends. This sea wall was according to statistics the leading area for the USA in teen pregnancey %. I had done this street work individualy but never in a group so I went imediately to The Lord, and The Holy Spirit gave me directions about how we were to do it. At the base we had a 1Hr. lunch period and we were instructed to meet every week day for the last half hour of our lunch period, and pray for God to prepare the hearts of those He would direct us to, and would humble us to totaly submit ourselves to His direction. Then to meet for 1 hr. before we went to the street. I could post a lot on what happened but will try to summarize the way He led us. He would tell us how to go, sometimes by twos, sometimes to march down the street with the guitars singing Gospel songs, some times to go as a group to a specified area, and to preach the Gospel of Christ. There was not a one of us who were not totally in awe of the way The Holy Spirit directed us, with such detail as to who to talk to. An example when we went two by two He would tell us things like there is a man sitting on a motorcycle in front of the dairy queen go to him. And then when we would obey those instructions He would literally put the words in our mouths to say. I heard from some of those young people for a few years after their schooling in evangelism at YWAM was completed and they had gone to other nations on outreaches, and regardless of where they went that said that system accomplished the same results as it did in Hawaii. I do hope this will help you as you step out in faith, and obedience to God.

Street Preaching...

I would like to see more of it these days...

I have seen the Spirit of God lead and direct various ministries...

often intercity...outreaches...i.e. Mpls., Minnesota

To preach on bus stops where [people were waiting for a bus connection...

I too have seen young [people prayed up and in the Spirit...

Passing out good gospel tracts...

And, sharing in song...scripture songs...

It sounds like the Spirit is leading you and many...

To this active witness for the Kingdom of God...

Have Faith...Trust God to lead you and to give you the words...

To give you the Love for the people...

And, to give you the energy to do the work he has called you to...

I do not think the enemy would call you to witness...on the street...

or to stretch you beyond...what you are able...

Do not listen to natural man...for it is impossible for natural man

to please The Holy Spirit...Trust God and Do Good...

May God anoint you to go forth Brother Duke...

Amen! I just prayed for your boldness to explode into anointing.

I was doing street ministry within a month of being saved. This continued for about 5 years. Luckily, we had a place called "The Prophet Bar" here in Dallas where the owner had been born again and opened up his place for ANYONE to get food, drink, or spiritual nourishment as they walked by from the other bars which concentrate the neighborhood of the Deep Ellum Arts District.

We would go there first to pray....maybe strike up a conversation with someone who had come in off the street. Then, we'd go out into the bar district.

We found this to be the best way for us;

Three of us played instruments and sang praises at the top of our lungs right in front of a bar. We would have one person designated as THE bible guy for people who wanted to discuss the Bible. We would have as many as possible just stand around because we always drew a big crowd (we played a bohemian form of jewish music).

These folks would engage people individually with non-threatening questions like, "What do you think about that?" "Have you ever considered God in your life?". Just enough to get a conversation started about God...then we'd let them talk. When you hear the stories of their lives you are always moved with compassion for making their life better in the Lord.

We would have the most gifted evangelists from our congregation with us whenever it was possible but the Lord uses ordinary people in extraordinary ways when they go up to the battle.

Don't worry. The Lord will put the words in your mouth as He directs your path to the people He wants you to speak to.

I admire you!

Thank God for people who are willing...

To do as the Holy Spirit leads them...

And, for people who are sensitive to new forms of witness...

I look forward to the time when I can again be active in street sharing

and witnessing...

May God use You Mightily...Brother...

Acts 1:8 (KJV)

8But ye shall receive power, after that the Holy Ghost is come upon you: and ye shall be witnesses unto me both in Jerusalem, and in all Judaea, and in Samaria, and unto the uttermost part of the earth.

    • You are coming up higher in this season – above the assignments of character assassination and verbal arrows sent to manage you, contain you, and derail your purpose. Where you have had your dreams and sleep robbed, as well as your peace and clarity robbed – leaving you feeling foggy, confused, and heavy – God is, right now, bringing freedom back -- now you will clearly see the smoke and mirrors that were set to distract you and you will disengage.

Right now God is declaring a "no access zone" around you, and your enemies will no longer have any entry point into your life. Oil is being poured over you to restore the years that the locust ate and give you back your passion. This is where you will feel a fresh roar begin to erupt from your inner being, and a call to leave the trenches behind and begin your odyssey in your Christ calling moving you to bear fruit that remains as you minister to and disciple others into their Christ identity.

This is where you leave the trenches and scale the mountain to fight from a different place, from victory, from peace, and from rest. Now watch as God leads you up higher above all the noise, above all the chaos, and shows you where you have been seated all along with Him in heavenly places where you are UNTOUCHABLE. This is where you leave the soul fight, and the mind battle, and learn to fight differently.

You will know how to live like an eagle and lead others to the same place of safety and protection that God led you to, which broke you out of the silent prison you were in. Put your war boots on and get ready to fight back! Refuse to lay down -- get out of bed and rebuke what is coming at you. Remember where you are seated and live from that place.

Acts 1:8 - “But you will receive power when the Holy Spirit has come upon you, and you will be my witnesses … to the end of the earth.”

    • Understanding the Enemy!

I thought I write about the flip side of a topic, and how to recognize the attempts of the enemy to destroy lives and how you can walk in His victory!

For the Apostle Paul taught us not to be ignorant of enemy's tactics and strategies.

2 Corinthians 2:112  Lest Satan should get an advantage of us: for we are not ignorant of his devices.

So often, we can learn lessons by learning and playing "devil's" advocate.  When we read this passage,

Mar 3:26  And if Satan rise up against himself, and be divided, he cannot stand, but hath an end.
Mar 3:27  No man can enter into a strong man's house, and spoil his goods, except he will first bind the strongman; and then he will spoil his house.

Here we learn a lesson that in order to plunder one's house you must first BIND up the strongman.  While we realize in this particular passage this is referring to God binding up the strongman (Satan) and this is how Satan's house is plundered.  But if you carefully analyze the enemy -- you realize that he uses the same tactics on us!  Your house cannot be plundered -- unless you are first bound.   And then Satan can plunder your house!

      Shalom everyone,

As we continue this study, I'll be focusing on Daniel and his picture of the resurrection and its connection with Yeshua (Jesus).

    • Abraham and Issac: Pictures of the Resurrection, Part 2
      Shalom everyone,

As we continue this series the next obvious sign of the resurrection in the Old Testament is the sign of Isaac and Abraham.

Gen 22:1  After these things God tested Abraham and said to him, "Abraham!" And he said, "Here I am."
Gen 22:2  He said, "Take your son, your only son Isaac, whom you love, and go to the land of Moriah, and offer him there as a burnt offering on one of the mountains of which I shall tell you."

So God "tests" Abraham and as a perfect picture of the coming sacrifice of God's only begotten Son (Yeshua - Jesus) God instructs Issac to go and sacrifice his son, Issac.  Where does he say to offer him?  On Moriah -- the exact location of the Temple Mount.
