Firstly, what promotes actions that are against my values is people having different values, not the fact that there is no moral truth.

I think there's more to it. Don't you think that most people are not privy to the knowledge you have that there is no moral objectivity? Most people probably hold to the idea that true moral rights and wrongs do indeed exist. If I chopped up my daughter with an axe I think most people would say that was wrong, period. I think if you take away the idea that such things are wrong, tell people that indeed there is no moral truth. They will definitely have an easier time doing those things that you and I would call "wrong". In fact in time with that type of understanding soon the world would be in chaos. True at this time when most people think objective truth exists (gays should or shouldn't be able to marry) people with opposing values present the most problem for you, but in the future when the evolutionary mindset has run its course, I think you'll see that your stance on the existence of right and wrong will be the cause of the "values" that are in opposition to your "values". Once again I have to bring up our favorite Nazi Adolf Hitler who presented copies of Neitzsche's writings to Mussolini. Those ideas as you said, free people to commit evils and not feel the slightest shame. I think you need to assess more those things you value, and why you possess those values.

It sucks real hard.

Is this a meta ethical statement? Or a moral judgement on the reality of there being no right or wrong? I'm with you here.

Just one big question....I've been gone for a bit..but how did a thread on the discussion of dinos in the Bible lead into a thread on ethics and morals? Lets take the discussion of absolute truth to a new thread guys.

This was originally about Dinos and Man living at the same time. Evidence has shown this, through cave art of the Native Americas to detailed descriptions in the Bible. Thats what this thread is supposed to be about.

So lets move it along.

God Bless

txpaleo,

I understand that it is frustrating when threads change subject - especially when the subject is *really really* tangential - in other words, it has nothing to do with the original subject of the thread.

However, in this case, I have limited sympathy. Dinosaurs (and many other species) died out suddenly at the K-T (cretaceous-tertiary) boundary, when a giant meteor hit the earth. Although dinosaurs were among the unfortunate victims to perish in the K-T extinction, they were just a small sample of the 85% of species that died out. Several other terrestrial and marine biotic groups were also severely affected or eliminated in the crisis. Among those that perished were the pterosaurs, belemnoids, many species of plants (except amongst the ferns and seed-producing plants), ammonoids, marine reptiles, and rudist bivalves. All creatures over 25Kg died at the K-T boundary - making it the second biggest extinction in the fossil record. Both paleontology and geology attest to this momentus event - which triggered the evolution of larger mammals and eventually man. (for more information, visit: http://www.ucmp.berkeley.edu/education/events/cowen1b.html)

I'm sorry if you don't like this answer, and I'm even sorrier that you'd rather rely on a few imaginative cave paintings than real hard fossil and geological evidence. But unless you want to actually deal with this evidence, then the original discussion has come to a standstill - in other words, it's over. We have come to an impass, where real life evidence and your dogma conflict - and unless you choose to deal with both the evidence and your dogma, there's very little more left to say.

However, I do agree that morality (and more broadly meta-ethical skepticism) should be dealt is greater detail on a different thread. I would invite mscoville to start just such a thread if she/he is really interested in hearing my views in greater detail - and leave this thread to die its inevitable death.

This is a fun scripture if it is the scripture I am thinking of, there are scriptures in YoB(Job), and I think elsewhere, when I did a study with God's help. Do you know of Big foot, and the lockness monster, suppossedly people have seen them, well the scriptures if you look at them, say the monster that looks like the lockness monster even giving a description, that monster is a female monster, and the other monster is said to be a male monster. Now I believe that YaH has shown me in the future the Leviation, or lockness monster, will come upon land and do much destruction, and after a while then God will fight against that monster in some way, the way He chooses, and defeat the monster.

    • You are coming up higher in this season – above the assignments of character assassination and verbal arrows sent to manage you, contain you, and derail your purpose. Where you have had your dreams and sleep robbed, as well as your peace and clarity robbed – leaving you feeling foggy, confused, and heavy – God is, right now, bringing freedom back -- now you will clearly see the smoke and mirrors that were set to distract you and you will disengage.

Right now God is declaring a "no access zone" around you, and your enemies will no longer have any entry point into your life. Oil is being poured over you to restore the years that the locust ate and give you back your passion. This is where you will feel a fresh roar begin to erupt from your inner being, and a call to leave the trenches behind and begin your odyssey in your Christ calling moving you to bear fruit that remains as you minister to and disciple others into their Christ identity.

This is where you leave the trenches and scale the mountain to fight from a different place, from victory, from peace, and from rest. Now watch as God leads you up higher above all the noise, above all the chaos, and shows you where you have been seated all along with Him in heavenly places where you are UNTOUCHABLE. This is where you leave the soul fight, and the mind battle, and learn to fight differently.

You will know how to live like an eagle and lead others to the same place of safety and protection that God led you to, which broke you out of the silent prison you were in. Put your war boots on and get ready to fight back! Refuse to lay down -- get out of bed and rebuke what is coming at you. Remember where you are seated and live from that place.

Acts 1:8 - “But you will receive power when the Holy Spirit has come upon you, and you will be my witnesses … to the end of the earth.”

    • Understanding the Enemy!

I thought I write about the flip side of a topic, and how to recognize the attempts of the enemy to destroy lives and how you can walk in His victory!

For the Apostle Paul taught us not to be ignorant of enemy's tactics and strategies.

2 Corinthians 2:112  Lest Satan should get an advantage of us: for we are not ignorant of his devices.

So often, we can learn lessons by learning and playing "devil's" advocate.  When we read this passage,

Mar 3:26  And if Satan rise up against himself, and be divided, he cannot stand, but hath an end.
Mar 3:27  No man can enter into a strong man's house, and spoil his goods, except he will first bind the strongman; and then he will spoil his house.

Here we learn a lesson that in order to plunder one's house you must first BIND up the strongman.  While we realize in this particular passage this is referring to God binding up the strongman (Satan) and this is how Satan's house is plundered.  But if you carefully analyze the enemy -- you realize that he uses the same tactics on us!  Your house cannot be plundered -- unless you are first bound.   And then Satan can plunder your house!

    • Daniel: Pictures of the Resurrection, Part 3

      Shalom everyone,

As we continue this study, I'll be focusing on Daniel and his picture of the resurrection and its connection with Yeshua (Jesus).

    • Abraham and Issac: Pictures of the Resurrection, Part 2
      Shalom everyone,

As we continue this series the next obvious sign of the resurrection in the Old Testament is the sign of Isaac and Abraham.

Gen 22:1  After these things God tested Abraham and said to him, "Abraham!" And he said, "Here I am."
Gen 22:2  He said, "Take your son, your only son Isaac, whom you love, and go to the land of Moriah, and offer him there as a burnt offering on one of the mountains of which I shall tell you."

So God "tests" Abraham and as a perfect picture of the coming sacrifice of God's only begotten Son (Yeshua - Jesus) God instructs Issac to go and sacrifice his son, Issac.  Where does he say to offer him?  On Moriah -- the exact location of the Temple Mount.
