I think too much for my consciousness to handle. I distract my self for one second and I find my self thinking about sinful stuff. Help!

Consider spiritual warfare Brianna. When ever I find myself thinking sinfully I have in the past just thought "Oh I'm bad, and out of control". What I've learned in more recent years is to take seriously "the battlefield". The bible says the battlefield we are on with our enemy (satan and his agents) is our mind. That being true, what I have noticed is that when bad thoughts come I feel not like I'm just drifting into a sinful thought. I feel sometimes dragged into it. Remember if Satan can speak thoughts (usually lies of discouragement or accusations) into our mind as it says he can (battlefield is the mind); then it's not much more of a trick for him to get us to think they are our own thoughts. So use your authority to take those thoughts captive, shut down attacks in your thought life. I start, or at least say every day, a prayer to cancel any planned attacks on myself and my family by satan or his demonic. I further order them to the foot of the cross (the place where our salvation was created along with their demise) And call for angelic warriors to deal with any disobedient spirits. Then I ask god to send angels to speak into my mind those things that he would like me to know for today. (Appointments with other people he wants me to talk or pray with) And then I finish the prayer asking the blood of Jesus be over my mind, soul and physical body in Jesus name.

Hello Bri, The thing that worked for me in my younger days , when I was being tempted and tormented by satan and those strong urges, was that i had to learn to be strong enough to grab that Holy Word of God out and verbally speak against the desire. Until you form this or some of habit to rid yourself of these temptations, satan will always have an avenue where he can enter and affect your thoughts....And you already know where he's going to take them , so next time be prepared and have some counter measures..You already know you have God on your side. If at the very least, you may gain enough confidence in some of us here and call on a fellow brother and/or sister to walk you through the demise in the case that you're still feeling the temptations. As most of us have experienced the same and we are all in this proverbial "boat" together...are we not?
