Now, in terms of those who receive the mark of the beast, their part in the lake of fire most certainly would be eternal torment. But those persons are a particular group who emerge only in during the tribulation. I can find no direct connection between the unbelievers in this age and those who receive the mark of the beast during the tribulation period.

There is a connection. in chapter 20.

11And I saw a great white throne, and him that sat on it, from whose face the earth and the heaven fled away; and there was found no place for them.

12And I saw the dead, small and great, stand before God; and the books were opened: and another book was opened, which is the book of life: and the dead were judged out of those things which were written in the books, according to their works.

13And the sea gave up the dead which were in it; and death and hell delivered up the dead which were in them: and they were judged every man according to their works.

14And death and hell were cast into the lake of fire. This is the second death.

15And whosoever was not found written in the book of life was cast into the lake of fire.

Anybody who was in Hell was cast in the lake of fire.

And anybody else who was anywhere else, regardless of whether they were an angel or a human or whatever they are, if they are not found in the book of life, they are also cast into the lake of fire.

Other passages that speak of everlasting torment to the wicked dead.

2 Thess. 1:7And to you who are troubled rest with us, when the Lord Jesus shall be revealed from heaven with his mighty angels,

8In flaming fire taking vengeance on them that know not God, and that obey not the gospel of our Lord Jesus Christ:

9Who shall be punished with everlasting destruction from the presence of the Lord, and from the glory of his power;

Daniel 12:2

And many of them that sleep in the dust of the earth shall awake, some to everlasting life, and some to shame and everlasting contempt.

shame and contempt can only be suffered by someone who actually exists, hence they do not "blink out of existence" or any such thing, but literally suffer for ever and ever.

Matthew 25:41

Then shall he say also unto them on the left hand, Depart from me, ye cursed, into everlasting fire, prepared for the devil and his angels:

Indicates that wicked dead humans go to the same place of eternal suffering as the fallen angels.

Matthew 25:46

And these shall go away into everlasting punishment: but the righteous into life eternal.

Again, they are being punished for ever, not winking out of existence

Matthew 18:8

Wherefore if thy hand or thy foot offend thee, cut them off, and cast them from thee: it is better for thee to enter into life halt or maimed, rather than having two hands or two feet to be cast into everlasting fire.

You've got your ducks in a row Judge. If the bible says that there will be eternal fire and torment. The there will be.

Devil and Hell

To avoid confusion, why don't we pick this up in your new thread? That way, things won't get confused as to who they are talking with, ok? :24:

My counselor has been talking with me about God and how I still have a hard time with the whole "God is Love" concept. She says that I see God how I saw my father. With that being said, here are the questions that have not been cleared up concerning the Devil and hell:

How is it love to "send someone to hell" because they don't agree with you?

I don't understand original sin???

I need more info on this one as it's still fuzzy

The Hebrew word rendered "HELL" is "SHEOL" and the Greek word is "HADES".

The meaning of these words is "GRAVE" or "PIT".

The original meaning of the English word Hell meant 'to cover', which served as a much more accurate translation from the Greek and Hebrew.

Question: Is Hades hell?

Because in the Bible the word "hell" does not exist.

Hell is Hades, the abode of the unrighteous dead's spirits. Gehenna is the final prison for them, also called the lake of fire. They do not go there until the Last Day/Second Coming.

Actually the word Hades speaks of "the Place of the dead" and in the Greek there is nothing at all about whether or not they are righteous or not. In the parable of the rich man and Lazarus they are both in the lower reaches of the earth and the rich man can see Lazarus resting in the Bosom of Abraham from where he is. There is three different sections of the lower reaches of the earth. They are Hades, Gehenna, and Tartarus. All of which exist and serve a purpose. Gehenna is a place of burning but it is not the lake of fire because it is in the lower reaches of the earth.

I don't know what bible you are studying from but my bible has the word hell translated from both the Hebrew and Greek equivalent words 53 times. All of the words in my bible are translated from the original Hebrew and the Greek words. Actually there is not one single place written anywhere in the bible where you will find the words "When you die you will go to heaven". Why because we do not go to heaven when we die. We do just as Jesus did. We die, we go to hades where either rest in the bosom of Abraham along side of Lazarus or go to the place of burning (Gehenna) and burn beside the rich man who by the way still has eyeballs and a tongue and can feel all of the pain of burning just like as if he still has a body. We will stay there until just like Jesus we will be resurrected so we can go to the wedding supper and stand before our God in His house.

Tartarus is not spoken of in the English version of the bible but it is in the Greek version. But is used only once in 2 Peter 2:4 and is the place where the Rephaim ( the 200 fallen angels spoken of in the book of Enoch) are kept in prison/chains and are reserved unto judgment. These spirits are not the same fallen angels as those who fell with satan but are a different group.

The word "Gehenna" comes from the time when the Jews sacrificed their children to the god Moloch in the valley of Hinnom by roasting them to death. The valley of the sons of Hinnom is also known as the Gideon Valley and has nothing to do with the lake of fire. It is also the same place where all of Jerusalem took their trash to be burned in a perpetual burning pile of trash during the days of Jesus.

Hades is the abode of the unrighteous dead NOW. Originally, before Christ, you are correct Massorite. Christ took the righteous out of the place referred to as Abraham's bosom (where Lazarus was) with him to Paradise (Ephesians 4). Paradise speaks of Eden, the Garden of God.

Tartarus is used in some versions of the English Bible. The Book of Enoch has no standing however as there is no complete manuscript, so using it to prove Scripture is like using gasoline to put out a fire.

Paul said that when a Believer dies, absent from the from the body, present with the LORD. Where does Scripture tell us that Jesus is? At the right hand of the Father.

Jesus likened Gehenna the trash dump to the eternal state of unbelievers in the Lake of Fire (Lumne Pur). Gehenna is a euphemism for the Lake of Fire.

    • You are coming up higher in this season – above the assignments of character assassination and verbal arrows sent to manage you, contain you, and derail your purpose. Where you have had your dreams and sleep robbed, as well as your peace and clarity robbed – leaving you feeling foggy, confused, and heavy – God is, right now, bringing freedom back -- now you will clearly see the smoke and mirrors that were set to distract you and you will disengage.

Right now God is declaring a "no access zone" around you, and your enemies will no longer have any entry point into your life. Oil is being poured over you to restore the years that the locust ate and give you back your passion. This is where you will feel a fresh roar begin to erupt from your inner being, and a call to leave the trenches behind and begin your odyssey in your Christ calling moving you to bear fruit that remains as you minister to and disciple others into their Christ identity.

This is where you leave the trenches and scale the mountain to fight from a different place, from victory, from peace, and from rest. Now watch as God leads you up higher above all the noise, above all the chaos, and shows you where you have been seated all along with Him in heavenly places where you are UNTOUCHABLE. This is where you leave the soul fight, and the mind battle, and learn to fight differently.

You will know how to live like an eagle and lead others to the same place of safety and protection that God led you to, which broke you out of the silent prison you were in. Put your war boots on and get ready to fight back! Refuse to lay down -- get out of bed and rebuke what is coming at you. Remember where you are seated and live from that place.

Acts 1:8 - “But you will receive power when the Holy Spirit has come upon you, and you will be my witnesses … to the end of the earth.”

    • Understanding the Enemy!

I thought I write about the flip side of a topic, and how to recognize the attempts of the enemy to destroy lives and how you can walk in His victory!

For the Apostle Paul taught us not to be ignorant of enemy's tactics and strategies.

2 Corinthians 2:112  Lest Satan should get an advantage of us: for we are not ignorant of his devices.

So often, we can learn lessons by learning and playing "devil's" advocate.  When we read this passage,

Mar 3:26  And if Satan rise up against himself, and be divided, he cannot stand, but hath an end.
Mar 3:27  No man can enter into a strong man's house, and spoil his goods, except he will first bind the strongman; and then he will spoil his house.

Here we learn a lesson that in order to plunder one's house you must first BIND up the strongman.  While we realize in this particular passage this is referring to God binding up the strongman (Satan) and this is how Satan's house is plundered.  But if you carefully analyze the enemy -- you realize that he uses the same tactics on us!  Your house cannot be plundered -- unless you are first bound.   And then Satan can plunder your house!

    • Abraham and Issac: Pictures of the Resurrection, Part 2
      Shalom everyone,

As we continue this series the next obvious sign of the resurrection in the Old Testament is the sign of Isaac and Abraham.

Gen 22:1  After these things God tested Abraham and said to him, "Abraham!" And he said, "Here I am."
Gen 22:2  He said, "Take your son, your only son Isaac, whom you love, and go to the land of Moriah, and offer him there as a burnt offering on one of the mountains of which I shall tell you."

So God "tests" Abraham and as a perfect picture of the coming sacrifice of God's only begotten Son (Yeshua - Jesus) God instructs Issac to go and sacrifice his son, Issac.  Where does he say to offer him?  On Moriah -- the exact location of the Temple Mount.
