Christians who wont discuss politics

I have some friends who are Christians who will correct you if you influence the conversation towards politics. Are they wise or irresponsible?

Some people really just can't take seeing Christians beating each other up over politics. I don't think they're irresponsible if they try to avoid the conversation. Now if they just ignore it all together, then there's a problem, but trying not to talk about it because you don't like arguing is fine by me.

I do not think they are being irresponsible. Actually, quite the opposite. If a discussion of political disputes will create discord between brothers in christ then there is no need to bring it up.

Romans 14:1 "Accept him whose faith is weak, without passing judgment on disputable matters."

Though, politics need to be addressed in every christians life they need to be addressed in righteous ways.

I would think that it would depend upon the individuals. If they are avoiding it just because they don't want to deal with it, that is definitely not right. On the other hand, if they are truly trying to keep unity between the brethren, that would be right. There is a time and place for discussing it, and I have to say that I have talked about it with fellow Christians on numerous occasions. Although, in thinking back, I realize that I was speaking with likeminded people. I think in completely avoiding the subject you might miss out on valuable insight from someone else's point of view, which would certainly be a shame.

It doesn't matter I think. I saw the way G. W. Bush won his re-election. Or should I say: with help some friends in court pointed out as winner? That is talking about politics nationswide.

But local politics should be in focus by christians. On local scale, simple things can be done without all kind of idiotic rules, and it possible to have a much larger influence as a city of a town, then a beeing a citizing of a very large country.

But then at the end...

It depends. If you are referring to talking about politics at an inappropriate time, then that is fine.

If, on the other hand, these Christians want nothing to do with politics and refuse to vote, then that is not right. Christians need to participate in the political process to look out for their own best interests. Christians cannot keep of politics and expect non-Christian politicians to look out for their best interests.

When is an inappropriate time and when is an appropriate time?

I think right now, in new york anyway, a pastor is not to influence the church either way. They can get in trouble with the law.

Some christians actuall do not care.

Others do not follow politics thinking it is all corrupt and praying for the officials are enough.

I talk about almost anything and will also correct a christian who does not vote or know what is going on. There are also a lot of christians in the political arena and need our support. So shame on them who do not want to get involved.

If its just discussion maybe they want to prevent a split or dissension?
