I think all the fanatcism about Obama is uuch ado about nothing. He may be inspiring to some but I don't believe thats why they are fainting. People who stand for extended periods tend to lock their knees which restricts bloodflow, causing them to black out. I've almost had it happen to me a time or two when standing at attention during military ceremonies. Many times it was because the ranking offer, usually the speaker, forgot to tell us "at ease". Most of us who have been in the military can attest to this. It's simply spin when they try to make it look like they are fainting from over excitement. You also have to consider the size of the crowds, whether indoors or outdoors, altitude/elevation, the persons health as factors that may have contributed to that person not getting enough oxygen.

I understand that there are some people who get excited enough to faint. There were all too many women that fainted at the sight of Elvis in person. Need I say more? But Obama is no Elvis. I am more inclined to believe these people were simply on their feet too long and colapsed as a result.

Hitlesr premise was to create a race specific to his own. His ideas and how he chose to do it did not happen until much later. He also has to please both the delegates as well as the people....we are going into a different time and he most certainly sign that paper that guarentees one wordl order that has been around for years....many presidents have signed it.

It is true that whom Jesus wants there will be there but that does not negate our responsibility for assisting to get the right person up there.

The real question is "who is the right person"? We all have our own idea as to who that is, but be assured that the one chosen was done so by the will of God.

Are you seriously going to stoop so low as to compare Obama to Hitler?

I don't think she's comparing Obama to Hitler per se, just pointing out that both of them could hype a crowd. They both were quite good at it, in fact.

How many people actually heard of obama until recently? I am like...where did this guy come from and how did he get so popular so fast? I know he probably has been on the circut?

I would love to here a canididat say We are in real trouble and not until I get into office and see it up close can I judge on the right recourse...I would vote for him.

I saw his famed speech at the Democratic Convention 4 years ago. I said then, he will run and win the nomination. He soundly defeated Allan Keyes in his state of Illinois. He is a star politically speaking. That is not an endorsement mind you. I have read both of his books, because I knew he would be in the position that he sits in today. Zhe has that kind of contagious charisma, even though he is a liberal, he is likeable.

On related topics, I think the assumption Obama supporters are all worshipers is way off base, but I suppose it isn't really surprising. He certainly knows how to inspire people, and I give him the fact he's extremely charismatic. The thing is, these are good traits to have, regardless of who had them in our past.

But I suppose it would be only natural for those who fundamentally oppose someone or something to put traits into a bad light. (good speaker = hitler; charismatic = cult). But really, why WOULDN'T you want a candidate to be a good speaker, to inspire emotion, to have a following?

I think the perceived "worship" really stems from 8 years of frustration for a lot of voters, and Obama is campaigning for a change, which is essentially a breath of fresh air for voters dissatisfied with the Bush white house. Voters aren't worshiping Obama as much as they are excited about the possibilities he may bring to the country.

The fact is, the race for the presidency is a big game across the board. Candidates will behave in a manner that they believe their constituents will like. They do things to become likable, even if they might not normally under other circumstances (Huckabee on the Colbert Report comes to mind). So it seems completely natural to me that Obama will be campaigning for a change to the country. I wouldn't mind a bit of change myself.

Now mind you, I did not vote for Obama based on emotion alone. If you think that's the only reason people vote for him, then you aren't being honest with yourself.

I don't recall Reagan being treated like a rock star with people screaming and crying as he passed by.

I don't recall anyone voting for Reagan on emotional appeal.

Are you kidding? They had a campaign to add him to Mount Rushmore. He is practically a deity to the Republican Party. They cant even have a debate without spending the first 30 minutes or so venerating him.

and why not? he was a great man and a great president. he was also "all american".
