hmmm, I am not sure healingoil understands what my grievance is

interesting. so this is how to feels to talk and have people not actually hear what u are saying. very interesting indeed.

What is your grievance? I've been listening (reading) everything you've said and still am...

Do you or do you not think that what they did was inexcusable regardless of their culture, etc.? A simple yes or no will suffice.

If you are trying to say something, it is up to you to choose language to adequately convey what you want to say. You do not blame someone else for "misunderstanding you".

That is, if it is clear in your mind what you want to say.

Healingoil is not the only one, I got the impression, too, from what you said that you were trying to justify these actions by the fact that "it is their culture".

Not wishing to antagonise, but your view sounds like it is straight out of a speech to the UN, or a UN dictate.

bib, i am not debating that at all. the real issue that bothers me is that people have a tendency to think the western culture is the standard and that those in teh west have the cultural practices that everyone else should follow. if anyone does anything different, then they are labeled as "primitive" or whatever.

which is why statements like the one u just made are a hard for me to read. sorcery is a very real and serious crime in their society. to the western society we dismiss such things as silly when to them, it is a matter of great importance. they have justice system set up in place to deal with such things in accordance with what works for them. we are quick to judge without even looking at things critically or bothering to understand how and why things are done the way they are.

I do believe that there are always two sides to every story and that the media is often biased in their reports. However, the message is very clear here.

For ME, and most people, this reaction/action is uncivilized.

Uncivilized is defined as not civilized or cultured; barbarous.

Civilized ~ 1.having an advanced or humane culture, society, etc. 2.polite; well-bred; refined. 3.of or pertaining to civilized people: The civilized world must fight ignorance. 4.easy to manage or control; well organized or ordered: The car is quiet and civilized, even in sharp turns.

Their practices are not just different, they are uncivilized. Barbarous, primitive, inhumane. Understandably this is their culture, but that does not mean that it's OK for them to behave in this manner.

Sorcery should be a serious crime in any society, after all, it is against God's word. Although, I don't believe that is their reasons against it. However, in a civilized, ordered society, there would be a trial, some humane practice that would give the people some voice. Instead of dragging them out of their home and stringing them up. If they have a justice system set up and in place then it does not seem that it was exercised in this instance. And in fact, sounds as if the "tribe" was the judge and jury, instead of the government. How civilized is that?

Nolan Yekum and her husband Paul were dragged from their house and hung from a tree by fellow tribesmen who accused them of sorcery after the couple's neighbour suddenly died.

He said he pleaded with fellow villagers to wait for his neighbour's post-mortem and he accused local police of failing to act.

What I think people are really upset about is that she was pregnant. It upsets me too. But lots of pregnant women do stupid, illegal things every day. They can't hide behind their babies. If you can't do the time, don't do the crime.

We know that midwives were burned at the stake for witchcraft [sorcery] back in the day, because their practices were "different". Did that make it OK, because it was their culture? I consider that uncivilized behaviour. It is highly possible that this man and woman were "natural" healers and tried helping their ill neighbor. Of course, maybe just taking the guy a pot of soup was enough. When he died, the tribe automatically assumed it was witchcraft. Their judgement was swift. It was wrong.

I hope you can understand more fully why this situation bothers me. And your stand is so confusing to me. :noidea:

    • You are coming up higher in this season – above the assignments of character assassination and verbal arrows sent to manage you, contain you, and derail your purpose. Where you have had your dreams and sleep robbed, as well as your peace and clarity robbed – leaving you feeling foggy, confused, and heavy – God is, right now, bringing freedom back -- now you will clearly see the smoke and mirrors that were set to distract you and you will disengage.

Right now God is declaring a "no access zone" around you, and your enemies will no longer have any entry point into your life. Oil is being poured over you to restore the years that the locust ate and give you back your passion. This is where you will feel a fresh roar begin to erupt from your inner being, and a call to leave the trenches behind and begin your odyssey in your Christ calling moving you to bear fruit that remains as you minister to and disciple others into their Christ identity.

This is where you leave the trenches and scale the mountain to fight from a different place, from victory, from peace, and from rest. Now watch as God leads you up higher above all the noise, above all the chaos, and shows you where you have been seated all along with Him in heavenly places where you are UNTOUCHABLE. This is where you leave the soul fight, and the mind battle, and learn to fight differently.

You will know how to live like an eagle and lead others to the same place of safety and protection that God led you to, which broke you out of the silent prison you were in. Put your war boots on and get ready to fight back! Refuse to lay down -- get out of bed and rebuke what is coming at you. Remember where you are seated and live from that place.

Acts 1:8 - “But you will receive power when the Holy Spirit has come upon you, and you will be my witnesses … to the end of the earth.”

    • Understanding the Enemy!

I thought I write about the flip side of a topic, and how to recognize the attempts of the enemy to destroy lives and how you can walk in His victory!

For the Apostle Paul taught us not to be ignorant of enemy's tactics and strategies.

2 Corinthians 2:112  Lest Satan should get an advantage of us: for we are not ignorant of his devices.

So often, we can learn lessons by learning and playing "devil's" advocate.  When we read this passage,

Mar 3:26  And if Satan rise up against himself, and be divided, he cannot stand, but hath an end.
Mar 3:27  No man can enter into a strong man's house, and spoil his goods, except he will first bind the strongman; and then he will spoil his house.

Here we learn a lesson that in order to plunder one's house you must first BIND up the strongman.  While we realize in this particular passage this is referring to God binding up the strongman (Satan) and this is how Satan's house is plundered.  But if you carefully analyze the enemy -- you realize that he uses the same tactics on us!  Your house cannot be plundered -- unless you are first bound.   And then Satan can plunder your house!

    • Abraham and Issac: Pictures of the Resurrection, Part 2
      Shalom everyone,

As we continue this series the next obvious sign of the resurrection in the Old Testament is the sign of Isaac and Abraham.

Gen 22:1  After these things God tested Abraham and said to him, "Abraham!" And he said, "Here I am."
Gen 22:2  He said, "Take your son, your only son Isaac, whom you love, and go to the land of Moriah, and offer him there as a burnt offering on one of the mountains of which I shall tell you."

So God "tests" Abraham and as a perfect picture of the coming sacrifice of God's only begotten Son (Yeshua - Jesus) God instructs Issac to go and sacrifice his son, Issac.  Where does he say to offer him?  On Moriah -- the exact location of the Temple Mount.
