abba, father

As i am looking at the names of God I wonder how many do call out to the father in Heaven as father.

I look at myself be born from the loins of my earthly dad.

But being born from the loins of by heavenly father gives me the right to call Him Abba.

Being born of Gods out of God loins Gives me the freedom to believe that whatever I may blame on my parents is not an excuse no longer.

Does the prophecy of Mal 4:5,6 have a double meaning? Restoration of relationships including Himself. The true Bride and our King?

My understanding of the verses is the restoration to an prefall condition like in Eden when Adam and Eve walked in harmony with each other and most importantly with God. Also there will be no sibling rivalry between Cain and Abel, meaning between nations etc....

We call Him "Abba" because He is.

thats what I really think. You know that sometimes over time going from nursery to kindergarten you see things differently. It is a change where i never saw this before and welcome this truth into my Spirit tonight... Thanks for the confirmation ! David...I appreciate it!

He is our Father and I understand Him in that way but never looked at the spiritual loin aspect. I always saw that through the blood of Jesus we are saved and the price of that Blood so much more costly than we can imagine and yet the spiritual Birth because of that Blood gives us the nature of being... well for lack of better words hereditarily His. which Ties into what David above mentions about relationships and going back to Genesis...Being in His tseh-lem.

I mean people look at me and my Earthly dad and can tell I am related.

Hopefully with my heavenly father too. it is a new revelation of the word for me from a different perspective.... I am so excited!!!

I think there is a lot more to Malachis prophecy than you are seeing?{ Recently one of pur relations named there son Malachi because of the restoration prophecy this verses are speaking of}.

look at comment #2.... I know people consider this as end-time prophecy but also it is for us as well being restored to Him? Or is it one of those prophecies you consider to be between israel and God?

I had asked my Big Sister about the name "abba" in what it meant in the Jewish way and if I remember correctly it was what the children called their father. And as I pondered that I got to thinking what an honor that our Heavenly Father has actually bestowed on us as Gentiles believers as He grafted us into His family and we are adopted Jews and we didn't have access to the Father as it was through Christ we have access to the Father and eternal life. But it is a big honor that has been give to us to be able to call our Father "Abba" the head of the Body of Christ the family of God.

In reference to the prophecy in..........................

Malachi 4: vs) 5--"Behold, I will send you Elijah the prophet before the coming of the great and dreadful day of the Lord:"

According to this verse is a prophecy being given that the Lord would indeed send the prophet Elijah before the coming of that dreadful day of the Lord's coming. When you read in the NT which is a good read and worthy of given further meditation and study to......................

Matthew 11:14-15--"And if ye will recieve it, this is Elias, which was for to come." vs) 15--"He that hath ears to hear let him hear"

It was John the Baptist that was the forerunner of Christ as he was the voice of the prophet crying in the wilderness, he was the messenger as John said prepare ye the way of the Lord. So it was John the Baptist that was the prophesied prophet that was foretold to come before the Lord as Jesus taught.

Luke 1:17--"And he shall go before Him in the Spirit and power of Elias to turn the hearts of the fathers to the children and the disobedient "to the wisdom of the just: to make ready a people prepared for the Lord"

The passaged that this verse in is speaking about the birth of John being foretold as once again in this verse you can see that it was John the Baptist that was to go before Jesus and he would be going in the same spirit and power that the prophet Elijah has as he went forth preparing the way for the Lord Jesus as he preach repentance and baptism until the day the Lord came to John to be baptized of him and John said "Behold the Lamb of God

Joel 2:31--"And it shall come to pass that whosoever shall call on the name of the Lord shall be delivered...........

This promised will also be available during the end times as you can back up a verse to #31 which is directly speaking of the endtimes.

Malachi 4: vs) 6--"And he shall turn the heart of the fathers to the children and the heart of the children to their fathers lest I come and smite the earth with a curse"

Now you can see here from this verse the same thing we seen back in Luke 1:17 above so I want repeat myself on that area but will comment only on the last half of the verse "lest I come and smite the earth with a curse"

Zechariah 5:3-4--"Then said he unto me, This is the curse that goeth forth over the face of the whole earth: for every one that stealeth shall be cut off as on this side according to it and every one that sweareth shall be cut off as on that side according to it." vs) 4--"I will bring it forth saith the Lord of hosts, and it shall enter into the house of the theif, and into the house of him that sweareth falsely by my name: and it shall remain in the midst of his house and shall consume it with the timber thereof and the stones thereof."

In the OT law there was blessings for obedience and cursings for disobedience and in vs 4 above you can read what the curse was for a theif and a person who sweared falsely using the Lord's name and if one did these then there house would be smitten by the Lord for their sin and it would stay there until their house was destroyed. Now if you back in vs 3 above you will notice that it say this is the curse as this is a future propecy also speaking of the wrath of God which is a curse that will come in the end-times and will be over the whole earth as you can read in Revelation of God's wrath as a third of the earth will be destroyed a third of the ocean a third of the plants and animal you have the seventh trumpets

judgement and so on........................

Father is av [ab] in both Hebrew and Aramaic.

In Aramaic abba means 'my father'. In Hebrew avi [abi] means 'my father'.

You will also hear abba used in the Urdu dialect of Hindustani [if memory serves]. The Urdu dialect is made up predominently of Arabic loanwords.
