I find myself in a pickle alot of the time trying to figure out

if I should speak or keep my mouth shut.

Can anyone give me some common sense basics?

Thanks :emot-highfive:

The less you speak, the more you hear. This can help you figure out what the other person will say next. Have you ever noticed that allot of people voice an opinion during a conversation that have not been asked a question. Further, if you keep silent, often any questions you may have are usually answered if you allow the other person to just keep talking.

Actually , staying quiet can be fun...practice it for awhile, you may be surprised at the reactions you get.

If you are mentally preparing your response while the other person is still talking...................you talk too much.

I'm so guilty of this! :emot-highfive:

Thanks :whistling:

The only time you shouldn't speak is if what you want to say has sinful intentions (like cursing at someone) or if it would offend another Christian. Just pray about it :whistling:

I have been praying about it and I will continue to pray about it because I feel like I goof almost everyday. :whistling:

I do that because I'm afraid I'm going to forget what I was going to say before the other person finishes. :whistling:

I am also guilty and in turn I miss what the other person is saying. :emot-highfive:

I do notice when I goof so I am praying with time I will get better. :emot-highfive:

Point me to somebody who is not!

And if they answer they have already spoken too much.

Many years ago I heard someone say that before we speak we should consider:

Is it kind?

Is it true?

Is it necessary?

I'm sure there is more to it than that but those are good basic rules to bear in mind.

kind and true is easy enough

I think the necessary is the part I'm having trouble with.

I will have to keep that one in mind. :emot-hug:

This is a daily struggle for me (because I am a TALKER!!! I'm a teacher so I have to be.). However, I am getting better at not talking so much...it's hard but worth the effort!! :emot-hug:
