This probably all happened around 15,000 years ago.

Are you joking? I ask this in all sincerity.

God may have affected the rate of time on the fourth day.

Special pleading?

Things are not very old at all and there is much evidence to the contrary.

Let's talk. Please present one peice of evidence that the universe is young and we'll take it from there.

No thankyou. I bowed out of extended round-in-circles arguments about science in this forum a long time ago.

For those of us who believe in the logical necessity of a Supreme Creator, it seems at odds to try and limit such a Being to whatever our human faculties can comprehend concerning Him. Our Creator has not chosen to plainly reveal to us either just when the Earth was created or when it will reach its end. As one who deems the Christian Scriptures and the God of their revelation as necessarily veracious, I find nothing in either these Scriptures, honest scientific inquiry, or all of creation that would limit the Creator's ability to design and set in place a fully developed universe with an appearance of age, just as the Scriptures indicate He did with all plants, animals, and man.

Well Said! Hear Hear

Jeff, as an ardent creationist, I must admit that the YEC position is falsified by the fact that starlight may take millions of years to reach the Earth. The YEC position is untenable and is giving creationism a bad name. Things are old, man, real old...

I must agree. I am a staunch creationist, but I am not Young Earth. Young Earth is no more Biblically sound than old Earth. Young Earth is definitely not scientifically sound.

Things are not very old at all and there is much evidence to the contrary. Anyway in answer to the original post; go to www.answersingenesis.org and search for that phrase .. they do have resources for it. One in particular im thinking of is called Starlight and Time.

I like Ken Ham. He is a very sincere man. What he is not, is a scientist. He is no scientist. Even though I disagree with him, I felt sorry for him when he debated Dr. Hugh Ross. Dr. Hugh Ross chewed him up. It was not pretty. Dr. Ross is both biblically and scientifically sound in his position on the age of the Earth.

To make ths simple. If a star is located 150 million light years away; if we can see it, the light has been traveling for more the 15000 years.

I do not agree that God created the universe with "the appearance of age." If He did, that would in essence make the universe the age He created it to be. If God instructed a Star to attest to be 200 million years old, one can not fault a scientist for telling you it is the Age God told it to reveal itsself to be. If 15,000 years ago, God created the universe to be 200 million years mature, It is fair to say the universe is 200 million years old.
