You said if you were sure it was what god wanted you would agree whether you did or not. so if your pastor said that God told him your daughter was to marry his 40 year old brother then hyperthetically you would say yes. that hyperthetically makes you an FLDS believer. It all depends on societal acceptance, moral acceptance and culteral acceptance. In this country, yes it is a big deal. Individually in some cases it is not, such as your case. In this country you may think and believe what you please as long as you don't fulfill some of them. Let's be sure of the connotation of "marrying off" Willing in heart or obedience to anothers will. There is a huge difference between an insistant 15 year old who just loves this man and you give in and give consent, or if she threatens to run away if you don't and never come back as opposed to thrratening her with damnation if she doesn't marry him.

Prayer, fasting. I dont know about you (not snotty, I really dont know) but I have a relationship with God. I go to him with all of my decisions and get answers every time.
