I'd say their only option would be to cut expenses. if I cut expenses any more, I'd be homeless....AGAIN.... Most of my paycheck goes to pay for my apartment. Rent, electric, water, and my cell phone. After those are paid....I don't even have money for food. So please tell me how I can cut expenses.....I can't even afford a car, so I take public transportation, and I can barely afford that. a.

Seems like every time there is a story on the news about gas prices which seems to be everyday now there is always one of these people on there whining and complaining that it just cost them $80-$100 to fill up their play toy. News flash humble yourselves and drive dorky cars like the rest of us. My brother and all his friends laugh at me because they drive sport cars like Mustangs and the new charger that is out while I drive a wimpy little Ford Escort but I'm the one laughing as I'm driving past the gas station while they are all out there pumping gas for the 3rd time that week. Grace to you, I drive a gas guzzling SUV, would you be implying that I'm an idiot? I couldn't even read the whole thread.....laughing too hard.... All we gotta do is find who contros what? sack them, and put Ted in control......simple.

My son has a Yukon but has three kids in carseats. When my kids were little, didn't need carseats and we could get us all in small cars. Today's young families are almost forced into SUV's. Also, if I were to sell any of my cars to buy a cheaper or dorkier car, it would cost lots more than I'm now paying (which is nothing) for these cars. I can drive that Jeep for years for very expensive gas than pay $20,000 for a newer car. My diesel motorhome, however, is parked. I'm not sure when we'll drive it again with the price of diesel. Certainly can't sell it without losing our shirt. Such a ridiculous situation.

Compare that to someone who has a $400 car payment, $150 for insurance, and is spending $500 a month for gasoline! Simple arithmetic tells us that's $1,050 a month to just own a car, without including oil changes, new tires, tune ups and what-have-you. This is not a worst case scenario; this is someone I know. His transportation costs are higher than his mortgage!
