What do you all think about that... "You can look but you can't touch" whole thing?

Hmmm...What's that verse? Something like "If you lust in your heart you have committed adultery"?

As a mom of boys, it looks to me like the guys get a bad rap.

The girls are the ones walking around with their body parts hanging out and calling my house constantly at all hours.

I dont let my son ride the bus because they are all over him and it produces an influx of more phone calls.

Not to mention some of the sexualy suggestive emails I've read.

I dont think my boys are angels by far, but from what i've seen out there the choice of real ladies is real slim to none.

I think the motto is look and please touch!

i don't think the post was gender specific!

jaime, i have two daughters, ages 16 and 17, and to this day they can't understand why we have a house rule about no calling guys. but i can't count the number of moms of teenage boys who have told me that they wish moms of girls would forbid them from calling!

I think boys growing up these days have it tough. I just had an agument this morning as to why my 11 year old son can't have a scantily dressed Brittany Spears screen saver for his X Box dash board.

Society tells our boys to perv quite frankly and it sickens me. Dan and I are trying to teach our sons respect and yet females don't respect themselves enough to cover up and whats more in a lot of cases it is the mums buying the clothes for their daughters.

I wasn't allowed to wear certain things because my mum expected higher standards for me. Admittedly I snuck things I wanted to wear such as the tightest jeans I could pour myself into but my mum said no and it mean she was saying you are more than something to look at don't degrade yourself.

I am so trying to teach my boys no you can NOT look but how do you when girls are wearing what they are.

Miss Pryzma,

You took a thought right out of my head! I had been thinking yesterday of something I hear so many guys say-looking at the menu, but not ordering. Geez, when I go to a restaurant and look at the menu, I generally want to order that top sirloin steak-that's my whole purpose in looking at the menu. On the other hand, there is nothing wrong with the appreciation of beauty in a non-lustful way. I will be the first to say that a lady is beautiful/nice looking and it IS NOT meant in a lustful way at all.

Same thing with the expression "eye candy." I don't know of too many people who are satisfied with just LOOKING at the candy corn and circus peanuts (now you know my favorite candies-a hint for Christmas, LOL!), do you? Same way with this proverbial "eye candy." Looking at something makes you want it IMHO.

Greetings All,

Today, it is almost impossible to go a day without being "tempted" in one way or another. We hear and overhear things, we see things, we even do things that once was considered anathema to God.

Before Adam and Eve sinned, everything hung out and they were unashamed. There was no command of God forbidding looking upon one another in their creation suit (birthday suit). God in fact had already told them to "fill the earth", and so the differences they saw between each other was for the purpose of obeying God.

However, they had ONE command which if they broke it, they would die. So, as is Satan's nature, he tempted them to break the ONLY command God had given them that could lead to death. Isn't that what he does today? Now, when Adam and Eve were tempted, they looked, they saw the beauty of the forbidden fruit, and they considered Satan's words - the fruit was good for them for it would make them to be like God and that certainly God would not punish them as He had promised. Again, isn't that what happens today?

Notice what happened when "lust was conceived" in Adam and Eve's heart. I am speaking of "lust" for the forbidden fruit, but the concept of "lust" is the point here. I believe that Adam and Eve immediately "saw" and "lusted" after each other and that is why they "covered" themselves with leaves. Of course, this "covering" amounts to "hiding of their sins". But of course, God KNOWS even the "hidden things". Fortunately for them, God was merciful and the first blood was shed to provide a "covering" for them, so that they would not immediately die.

I really appreciate seeing you Christians "teaching" your children in the ways of the Lord, even as it is written:

Proverbs 22:6 Train up a child in the way he should go: and when he is old, he will not depart from it.

Adam and Eve REALLY didn't understand God's command and sovereignty until AFTER they succumbed to the temptation. How often have we "pushed the limits" of our parents/teachers/pastors patience with some of our shinanigans? But as we grew and learned the hardship that was caused by disobeying God, we have put aside those things which hinder and tear us down. I know, none of us are sin free, it is impossible to be "without sin" every moment of our lives, especially in this day and age.

But we do have an advocate with the Father now, and we are NO LONGER under the "law", so when Satan comes around with his carrot, we have God's sure Word that:

1 Corinthians 10:13 There hath no temptation taken you but such as is common to man: but God is faithful, who will not suffer you to be tempted above that ye are able; but will with the temptation also make a way to escape, that ye may be able to bear it.

God is NOT going to take away the temptations, BUT He will provide us a "way of escape" of committing that sin.

Let your kids know that the temptations they face are "common to man", and you and I have been where they are at. Let them know the results of yielding to that temptation - sickness, VD, jail, death, hurting others or themselves, etc. etc. And once this is done, all you can do is PRAY and "set the example" for them. The best you can hope for is that they take you serious and obey you as a sign of their love for you, but do not be surprised WHEN they fail you, and guaranteed, they WILL! But the Lord makes a promise in the above quoted verse: "...and when he is old, he will not depart from it." This is perhaps the BEST that we can EXPECT. IOW Hope for the Best, be prepared for the Worst. Be there for them but do not "enable" them to continue to dwell in their sin.

I can't praise the Lord enough for His Word:

2 Timothy 3:16-17 All scripture is given by inspiration of God, and is profitable for doctrine, for reproof, for correction, for instruction in righteousness: 17 That the man of God may be perfect, throughly furnished unto all good works.

Romans 7:7-8 What shall we say then? Is the law sin? God forbid. Nay, I had not known sin, but by the law: for I had not known lust, except the law had said, Thou shalt not covet. 8 But sin, taking occasion by the commandment, wrought in me all manner of concupiscence. For without the law sin was dead.

Do you see how these Romans verses applied to Adam and Eve?

Well, I've rambled too long. As I read your posts, I saw the picture of Adam and Eve and wanted to share it.

Blessings,

Dad Ernie

You all have very good posts.

I have heard many guys say this.. and it ticks me off! .. and another thing (like some of you have mentioned - for the girl to dress decently etc.) .. Well it's hard when you do but all around you there are woman dressed with barely anything and in a seductive way. It's just REALLY hard! It 'seems' like guys are drawn to that (not all but alot!).

Like have you ever noticed when your with a guy and someone who's wearing barely anything or tarted up walks by he looks longer than he usaully would at something else? ....I don't know maybe it's just something 'females' have to deal with - Or is it?!

Then on the other side.. When you are the victim of the "looking" ... either male or female!

***Just a note- this can be used for males or females, I just used it from a female perspective. And aren't males more visual anyways?

    • You are coming up higher in this season – above the assignments of character assassination and verbal arrows sent to manage you, contain you, and derail your purpose. Where you have had your dreams and sleep robbed, as well as your peace and clarity robbed – leaving you feeling foggy, confused, and heavy – God is, right now, bringing freedom back -- now you will clearly see the smoke and mirrors that were set to distract you and you will disengage.

Right now God is declaring a "no access zone" around you, and your enemies will no longer have any entry point into your life. Oil is being poured over you to restore the years that the locust ate and give you back your passion. This is where you will feel a fresh roar begin to erupt from your inner being, and a call to leave the trenches behind and begin your odyssey in your Christ calling moving you to bear fruit that remains as you minister to and disciple others into their Christ identity.

This is where you leave the trenches and scale the mountain to fight from a different place, from victory, from peace, and from rest. Now watch as God leads you up higher above all the noise, above all the chaos, and shows you where you have been seated all along with Him in heavenly places where you are UNTOUCHABLE. This is where you leave the soul fight, and the mind battle, and learn to fight differently.

You will know how to live like an eagle and lead others to the same place of safety and protection that God led you to, which broke you out of the silent prison you were in. Put your war boots on and get ready to fight back! Refuse to lay down -- get out of bed and rebuke what is coming at you. Remember where you are seated and live from that place.

Acts 1:8 - “But you will receive power when the Holy Spirit has come upon you, and you will be my witnesses … to the end of the earth.”

    • Understanding the Enemy!

I thought I write about the flip side of a topic, and how to recognize the attempts of the enemy to destroy lives and how you can walk in His victory!

For the Apostle Paul taught us not to be ignorant of enemy's tactics and strategies.

2 Corinthians 2:112  Lest Satan should get an advantage of us: for we are not ignorant of his devices.

So often, we can learn lessons by learning and playing "devil's" advocate.  When we read this passage,

Mar 3:26  And if Satan rise up against himself, and be divided, he cannot stand, but hath an end.
Mar 3:27  No man can enter into a strong man's house, and spoil his goods, except he will first bind the strongman; and then he will spoil his house.

Here we learn a lesson that in order to plunder one's house you must first BIND up the strongman.  While we realize in this particular passage this is referring to God binding up the strongman (Satan) and this is how Satan's house is plundered.  But if you carefully analyze the enemy -- you realize that he uses the same tactics on us!  Your house cannot be plundered -- unless you are first bound.   And then Satan can plunder your house!

    • Abraham and Issac: Pictures of the Resurrection, Part 2
      Shalom everyone,

As we continue this series the next obvious sign of the resurrection in the Old Testament is the sign of Isaac and Abraham.

Gen 22:1  After these things God tested Abraham and said to him, "Abraham!" And he said, "Here I am."
Gen 22:2  He said, "Take your son, your only son Isaac, whom you love, and go to the land of Moriah, and offer him there as a burnt offering on one of the mountains of which I shall tell you."

So God "tests" Abraham and as a perfect picture of the coming sacrifice of God's only begotten Son (Yeshua - Jesus) God instructs Issac to go and sacrifice his son, Issac.  Where does he say to offer him?  On Moriah -- the exact location of the Temple Mount.
