Hi everyone!

I am writting this because lately I have been feeling very discouraged. At times, I feel numb and useless. I don't really feel like I have anything to contribute to anyone. I think at those times (which are quite often lately) that if I am not being used (a blessing to others) what good am I.

Have any of you felt like this?

I have been going through a lot lately, but I don't feel like that is any excuse for emotionally shutting down.

I read posts here at WB, and wish that I had some insight to give that might help someone... but ... nothing comes. I have prayed about this, but I am not sure what it is exactly that is causing me to feel like this.

Even now, I feel blank  trying to explain how I am feeling. Any advice or prayers would be greatly appreciated.

Alison

I am not very good a word choice jsut yet, but I love to show conforting verses from the word of God!

Isa 41:10 Fear thou not; for I [am] with thee: be not dismayed; for I [am] thy God: I will strengthen thee; yea, I will help thee; yea, I will uphold thee with the right hand of my righteousness.

Hbr 13:5 [Let your] conversation [be] without covetousness; [and be] content with such things as ye have: for he hath said, I will never leave thee, nor forsake thee.

Deu 7:9 Know therefore that the LORD thy God, he [is] God, the faithful God, which keepeth covenant and mercy with them that love him and keep his commandments to a thousand generations;

Deu 30:20 That thou mayest love the LORD thy God, [and] that thou mayest obey his voice, and that thou mayest cleave unto him: for he [is] thy life, and the length of thy days: that thou mayest dwell in the land which the LORD sware unto thy fathers, to Abraham, to Isaac, and to Jacob, to give them.

Jdg 5:31 So let all thine enemies perish, O LORD: but [let] them that love him [be] as the sun when he goeth forth in his might. And the land had rest forty years.

Psa 5:11 But let all those that put their trust in thee rejoice: let them ever shout for joy, because thou defendest them: let them also that love thy name be joyful in thee.

Psa 31:23 O love the LORD, all ye his saints: [for] the LORD preserveth the faithful, and plentifully rewardeth the proud doer.

2Sa 22:3 The God of my rock; in him will I trust: [he is] my shield, and the horn of my salvation, my high tower, and my refuge, my saviour; thou savest me from violence.

2Sa 22:31 [As for] God, his way [is] perfect; the word of the LORD [is] tried: he [is] a buckler to all them that trust in him.

Psa 5:11 But let all those that put their trust in thee rejoice: let them ever shout for joy, because thou defendest them: let them also that love thy name be joyful in thee.

Psa 18:30 [As for] God, his way [is] perfect: the word of the LORD is tried: he [is] a buckler to all those that trust in him.

Psa 36:7 How excellent [is] thy lovingkindness, O God! therefore the children of men put their trust under the shadow of thy wings.

Psa 37:5 Commit thy way unto the LORD; trust also in him; and he shall bring [it] to pass.

Psa 37:40 And the LORD shall help them, and deliver them: he shall deliver them from the wicked, and save them, because they trust in him.

Hey!

(just in case you haven't seen, you have the sweetest hubby, he posted the link here twice, you two are so awesome!!!)

I feel that way many a times. :D

I feel numb and useless. I don't really feel like I have anything to contribute to anyone. I think at those times (which are quite often lately) that if I am not being used (a blessing to others) what good am I.

I can tell you from experience that that is satan trying to knock you over. You are so awesome!!! Take a look at your posts, fun, full of wisdom, and love!!!!!

YOU DO!!!!!!! :D You have contributed much to worthy. Now, you are proly refurring to life outside the computer, the way you are in here, I am sure you are blessing others there too.

God has a plan for you, and a purpose, and by doubting God (whether He is using you, whether you are blessing others) You've allowed the deciever to come in! You are not useless! You have Christ in your heart, and even when you don't reap the rewards of the seeds you've sown, doesn't mean it ain't growing! I have accidently blessed folks (it is not as if I have blessed them any way, it is Christ through you),....they come back days later , and tell me something that I had no clue affected them.

You are a light in this dark world!!!! Don't let your flame die out because you can't ese the fruit of your labors!!!!! You totally rock, you are awesome, and I wish I knew you in person!!!!!!

Father God I ask that you bless Alison in the name of Jesus! That you would open her eyes to the good that she is doing. Lord that she be not discouarged, but encouraged. Even when we don't know it, Father you use us to bless random people, every now and the Lord, allow her to see this, to be able to know that she is useful. If she is a willing and obediant vessel, then Father use her!!!!! I praise you for Alison and her hubby. What a difference they have made, even here on worthy. Thank you for bringing them here. I ask that you bless them as a couple, and thank you for letting them be married a year. I ask that you bless the marriage, and fill them with joy abundantly. Lord you are the Alpha, Omega, Beginning, and End, and we thank you for what you are doing, And we thank you for using Alison. In Christ's Holy and precious name, Amen

God bless you Alison

Hey there Alison!!!

Chin up!

You have just experienced much trauma in your life with the loss of your aunt and a cross-country move to a totally new environment. It is quite normal to feel discouraged under such circumstances. This is just a season and will pass. This is the time to meditate, read scripture and get closer to Christ.

You are not alone! I venture to say that all here on Worthy have been where you are right now. A feeling of the blahs and distance from the Lord.

This a time in your life when Satan sees a chink in the armor. He will try to make it a bigger chink. Resist him and he will flee from you!!!

Take heart in the fact that God loves you and that we love you!!! :il: :il: :il: You have been an inspiration to many here on Worthy and you are appreciated.

I suggest two things: Read the book of Galatians, a small book easily read in probably 30 minutes, and, find people and/or situations to pray for. Galatians is a book of joy and when praying for someone else, it's hard to think of self.

You will bounce back, quicker than you think!!!

In His Love,

Bro John with many

Only: You asked if any of us have ever felt that way...

My guess is everyone has felt that way. We seem to go through seasons of life when God is using us mightily and we see great progress for the Kingdom being made, (we're used to win souls to Christ, we feed a hungry person, council a troubled youth, etc.).

Then there's those "dry" periods where we feel stale and useless. I can read all the scripture in the world and somehow I feel just as bad or worse.

I'd been feeling utterly and completely defeated lately...In my case, because of recent health issues, which have left me unable to do the things in the Kingdom I used to do.

Well, God knew I was deeply depressed and feeling useless, although I wanted so desperately to be useful to Him.

For whatever reason, I'm in a season of quiet. You know that season, don't you?

It's a season where everything has become very still and even silent. It seems you're in "limbo"....where you can't really move one way or another; God has you is a "holding pattern".

Well, another person on the board told me that God told them to give me something very special and that I'd understand when I saw it.

The friend on the boards sent me a rather large, beautifully framed painting of Jesus carrying a young woman in his arms. He's walking along the beach and the sea is in the distance. You see His "footprints" in the sand.

You see Jesus "carrying" the woman because she's too weak to walk any further.

If you ever read the poem, "Footprints in the Sand"...you know that when there's only one set of prints in the sand, that was when Jesus was carrying us in His strong arms.

I knew and understood when I saw the painting what Jesus was saying.

She, on the other hand, knew exactly what to do and send because the Lord gave her clear instructions.

I know that feeling. There are times when the Lord tells me to do the same thing: He'll tell me to send this person a dozen roses or that person a lovely painting or another person a basket of fruit or whatever.

I am called to do things to encourage and lift up others. Strangely, God has people who are called to do the same for me when I'm down and out.

The painting was a clear answer to my prayer. "Lord, are you with me? Will you carry me through this?"

The painting gave the answer.

YOU are going through a season, too. It gets bumpy along the way sometimes.

God knows when you need help and encouragement..... and He's ready to use you when there's a need or set you aside to rest awhile before the need arises.

Don't worry...He'll put you to work soon enough (LOL)....right now, it's just a quiet time between you and Him. I'd try to use some of that time just getting really close to Him in prayer. Talk to Him all the time...at Home Depot or Walmart, in the kitchen fixing dinner, in the Dentist's office....everywhere.

Develop and enhance your relationship with Him. I promise you won't be alone in this. I'm also doing the same...

Bless you...Cats

Hippo's Hope,

First, thank you so much for the compliment regarding Bradley. He is the best! I have posted on that same thread my thoughts toward him as well.

Secondly, thank you so much for your encouraging words! You have been a great edifyer to me! What you have said about "accidently" being a blessing... I know this is true, because many of you have done just that for Bradley and I. The Bible says that at times, we have entertained angels unawares. It is nice to be reminded.

I look forward to the day, coming very soon - I pray, that we will be able to meet in person. On that day, I will hug each and every one of you. I will greatly express my appreciation towards you for all to know how wonderful you are!

Edifying the Body (individually and entirely) has to be one of the greatest jobs that we have. Sometimes, the wind picks up and whips our flame around a bit... there has to be someone to help shield the wind or relight the flame... if needed.

As long as we keep enough oil in our lamps, we can burn bright enough for the others when they need it.

I praise God for each of you, my precious brothers and sisters! Thank you for your prayer my wonderful sister!

Dear sweet brother John,

You have always been such a blessing and an inspiration to me. Your words too are so true. I will take them to heart! I will take the extra time to read and pray for others as you (and others) have suggested.

I know that you too have been going through your own trials lately, and you allowing the Lord to strengthen you... so that you can give strength to others - is encouraging to me. You truly have a heart toward God!

Thank you for always being there for Bradley and I, and uplifting us always before the Lord. You truly are a great blessing. You are continually in our prayers as well, dear brother.

We both love and cherish you dearly! You are one of the greatest in the kingdom! We all fall short without Jesus, and with Him at times we struggle (because this is still an imperfect world)... but there are some who, no matter what - stand tall in their faith. Storms may come, and destruction may follow... but strong they stand!

You are one of those brother John! We all love you and appreciate you more then you may know! Thanks again for your prayers and encouraging words!

YSIC,

Alison

Cats,

My oh my... What can I say about your post... It seems that all I can do is cry. Bradley read it with me, and together we just cried. Your words are so touching to us. You are too in a time, like ours (for different reasons) so that you come from a place of "recent" understanding.

Your words are wise and deeply loving. Your heart shows through the love of Christ.

I have read the "Footprints" poem, and you recalled it to me. It made me feel very comforted. Thank you so much my sweet dear sister for your post. You have truly touched me (and Bradley as well). I look forward to meeting you one day soon, as well as everyone else here.

You have truly been a blessing to me! Thank you!

YSIC,

Alison

MAY THE BLESSING THAT ALL OF YOU HAVE BLESSED ME WITH, MAKE IT SO THAT I MIGHT BE ABLE TO BLESS OTHERS - BECAUSE OF YOUR SEEDS AND WATER!!!!!

Thank you again so very much! You all will be in my prayers for your spoken and unspoken needs! I love each of you dearly, you have been a tramendous blessing and encouragement to me! Thank you!

YSIC,

Alison

Only: You know what I've discovered? The words to an old song:

The will know we are Christians by our love, by our love. They will know we are Christians by our love.

We cannot allow ourselves to become like the world (and I know it's tempting).

It's when we shine like stars that the light of Christ shows. It's when we embrace each other with compassion and understanding, His brightness is apparent.

We have got to always put each other first and foremost because this is pleasing to Him and delights Him greatly. It pleases the Father that we love each other DEEPLY.

When we wrong each other, we embrace and seek forgiveness. When we sin, we admit it and repent. When we weep, others weep with us and comfort us; when we rejoice, others laugh and rejoice with us...sharing in our joy.

We are a family now. We are made a family in and through one man, Jesus Christ, God become man, who died for us all that we may become one, even as He is One with the Father.

Now, they will know we are Christians by our love...

    • You are coming up higher in this season – above the assignments of character assassination and verbal arrows sent to manage you, contain you, and derail your purpose. Where you have had your dreams and sleep robbed, as well as your peace and clarity robbed – leaving you feeling foggy, confused, and heavy – God is, right now, bringing freedom back -- now you will clearly see the smoke and mirrors that were set to distract you and you will disengage.

Right now God is declaring a "no access zone" around you, and your enemies will no longer have any entry point into your life. Oil is being poured over you to restore the years that the locust ate and give you back your passion. This is where you will feel a fresh roar begin to erupt from your inner being, and a call to leave the trenches behind and begin your odyssey in your Christ calling moving you to bear fruit that remains as you minister to and disciple others into their Christ identity.

This is where you leave the trenches and scale the mountain to fight from a different place, from victory, from peace, and from rest. Now watch as God leads you up higher above all the noise, above all the chaos, and shows you where you have been seated all along with Him in heavenly places where you are UNTOUCHABLE. This is where you leave the soul fight, and the mind battle, and learn to fight differently.

You will know how to live like an eagle and lead others to the same place of safety and protection that God led you to, which broke you out of the silent prison you were in. Put your war boots on and get ready to fight back! Refuse to lay down -- get out of bed and rebuke what is coming at you. Remember where you are seated and live from that place.

Acts 1:8 - “But you will receive power when the Holy Spirit has come upon you, and you will be my witnesses … to the end of the earth.”

    • Understanding the Enemy!

I thought I write about the flip side of a topic, and how to recognize the attempts of the enemy to destroy lives and how you can walk in His victory!

For the Apostle Paul taught us not to be ignorant of enemy's tactics and strategies.

2 Corinthians 2:112  Lest Satan should get an advantage of us: for we are not ignorant of his devices.

So often, we can learn lessons by learning and playing "devil's" advocate.  When we read this passage,

Mar 3:26  And if Satan rise up against himself, and be divided, he cannot stand, but hath an end.
Mar 3:27  No man can enter into a strong man's house, and spoil his goods, except he will first bind the strongman; and then he will spoil his house.

Here we learn a lesson that in order to plunder one's house you must first BIND up the strongman.  While we realize in this particular passage this is referring to God binding up the strongman (Satan) and this is how Satan's house is plundered.  But if you carefully analyze the enemy -- you realize that he uses the same tactics on us!  Your house cannot be plundered -- unless you are first bound.   And then Satan can plunder your house!

    • Abraham and Issac: Pictures of the Resurrection, Part 2
      Shalom everyone,

As we continue this series the next obvious sign of the resurrection in the Old Testament is the sign of Isaac and Abraham.

Gen 22:1  After these things God tested Abraham and said to him, "Abraham!" And he said, "Here I am."
Gen 22:2  He said, "Take your son, your only son Isaac, whom you love, and go to the land of Moriah, and offer him there as a burnt offering on one of the mountains of which I shall tell you."

So God "tests" Abraham and as a perfect picture of the coming sacrifice of God's only begotten Son (Yeshua - Jesus) God instructs Issac to go and sacrifice his son, Issac.  Where does he say to offer him?  On Moriah -- the exact location of the Temple Mount.
