So I'll be the fly in the ointment. I don't believe satan has any power whatever. He has cunning and guile that he can fool gullible people into think he has power. A true believing born again christian has more power than satan and can use it to call on Jesus to rebuke him. Luke 10:19 Behold I have given you authority to tread on snakes and scorpions and over all the power of the enemy; and nothing by any means will hurt you. The devil can lie and deceive you if your faith isn't very strong.

James 4:7 Be subject therefore to God; but withstand the devil and he will flee from you. The sting was taken out of satan's tail at the cross. IMHO, of course.

So then my question still stands eric, If you allow satan in, and we all know from God's Word that we all do and we all have because God said that we all sin, "Do you think that because and when we sin that satan has power over those who allow him to live within them to possess them with certain powers; similar to how those who practice witchcraft feel they have certain powers. Many who carry their "crosses" throughout life , as in a person who goes back and forth into Pornography, or the alcoholic or drug addict who can't seem to completely shake the addiction. I understand that we are still speaking of possible Christians who are still living with one foot on God's side and one foot in satan's corner, but does satan still have power over them as long as they allow him access? Notice eric that on the one hand in your first sentence you noted that satan has no power whatsoever. Then you went on to say that a Full abiding Christian as MORE POWER than satan. Does that not infer that satan DOES have some power?

Firstly, I never let satan in. When I err, it's my own fault, satan doesn't trap me. I know right from wrong, but I still mess up occasiomally, but has got nothing to do with the devil. I blame myself. People are always blaming satan. I have the same victory as Jesus has, the vitory over satan sin and death. I am not sinless, no more than anyone else.

Are you trying to tell me that if a man jumps the fence and visits his neighbour for a little on the side, that satan is the cause of it. If he is a true b/a christian, committed to following Jesus, he wouldn't even think about it.

My last statement is not cnotradictory. I said that satan has no pwer. period. If satan has power, then Jesus died in vain. If you can't resist looking at porn, don't blame satan, blame your own weakness. One of my favourite verses.......I can do all things through Christ, who strengthens me.

Satan can tempt us just as he did with Jesus in the desert. Satan offers us materialism and power if we will bow down and worship him, but we can resist the temptation the same as Jesus did. Satans has no creative powers or no powers to "make" us do anything. He can tempt us, but we also have the power to resist if we stand on the Word. Sin is what blinds us to the truth. Not Satan. Satan exploits whatever weakness we have, if we let him. Jesus clearly demonstrated the importance and effectiveness of knowing and applying Scripture to combat temptation. (Matthew 4:1-11)

Yes, he does have power.

I have to agree with glorywatch. satan didn't have any power over Job. God had the power and He authorised satan to do with Job what he desired, But only up to a certain point. The devil certainly didn't have power over Jesus in the desert.

1 Pet.5:8, says, be sober; watch. Your adversary, the devil, as a roaring lion, walks about seeking for someone to devour. Satan has no power to make you follow him or fall for his lies, he uses his charm and lures those without the faith to resist. He may tempt you, but in 1 C0r.10:13 Jesus said that he will alloow you to be tested, or tempted, beyond what you are able to endure. Satan is like a toothless pitbull. He can't bite, maybe give you a good suck. I would like to see a scripture that says satan has power.

2 Corinthians 11

14 And no marvel; for Satan himself is transformed into an angel of light.

15 Therefore it is no great thing if his ministers also be transformed as the ministers of righteousness; whose end shall be according to their works.

Scripture is one of the devils most effective weapons.

All he has to do is get you to believe a lie and before you know it, you're one of his ministers.

So, you're saying that you're the only one who knows right from wrong Eric?? Not sure what you're trying to say? You sound as though you believe that satan is never attacking you or tricking you? Is that possible? How do you know exactly and precisely when it was satan or it was nothing but your own stubborness that provokes one into sin? It's not like the sin comes with a note on it saying "It's me.....SATAN!

I understand what you're saying when you say, "We have the control!" Wc can either choose to let satan in or not. But what about when satan tricks us through our own friends into sin? You even said he can be desceptive and cunning! So if he can hide his true self even in goodness, isn't it possible that he can fool even the most highly in the wisdom of God. If that's not so, then why and how did satan trick even the prophets into sin! We have scriptures where Jesus noted even his most notable prophets were tricked into sin.... Or not??? Eric??? Are you still there?

Brother! I'm not making it up, This is your first statement: (So I'll be the fly in the ointment. I don't believe satan has any power whatever. Now eric, did you not just say that "a true believing born again christian has more power than satan and can use it to call on Jesus to rebuke him?" Sounds like you're saying that satan must possess some type of power , that a new born christian would have MORE POWER over satan??? NO????

In agreement friend in Christ! Note please that I'm not stating nor am I asking if satan has the power to MAKE us do anything! I'm only questioning that he does have power and if we let him in , satan can bestow power on the lowly and downtrotten in an attemt to get to the "we" Christians of the world! This is where I'm going with this statement.

    • You are coming up higher in this season – above the assignments of character assassination and verbal arrows sent to manage you, contain you, and derail your purpose. Where you have had your dreams and sleep robbed, as well as your peace and clarity robbed – leaving you feeling foggy, confused, and heavy – God is, right now, bringing freedom back -- now you will clearly see the smoke and mirrors that were set to distract you and you will disengage.

Right now God is declaring a "no access zone" around you, and your enemies will no longer have any entry point into your life. Oil is being poured over you to restore the years that the locust ate and give you back your passion. This is where you will feel a fresh roar begin to erupt from your inner being, and a call to leave the trenches behind and begin your odyssey in your Christ calling moving you to bear fruit that remains as you minister to and disciple others into their Christ identity.

This is where you leave the trenches and scale the mountain to fight from a different place, from victory, from peace, and from rest. Now watch as God leads you up higher above all the noise, above all the chaos, and shows you where you have been seated all along with Him in heavenly places where you are UNTOUCHABLE. This is where you leave the soul fight, and the mind battle, and learn to fight differently.

You will know how to live like an eagle and lead others to the same place of safety and protection that God led you to, which broke you out of the silent prison you were in. Put your war boots on and get ready to fight back! Refuse to lay down -- get out of bed and rebuke what is coming at you. Remember where you are seated and live from that place.

Acts 1:8 - “But you will receive power when the Holy Spirit has come upon you, and you will be my witnesses … to the end of the earth.”

    • Understanding the Enemy!

I thought I write about the flip side of a topic, and how to recognize the attempts of the enemy to destroy lives and how you can walk in His victory!

For the Apostle Paul taught us not to be ignorant of enemy's tactics and strategies.

2 Corinthians 2:112  Lest Satan should get an advantage of us: for we are not ignorant of his devices.

So often, we can learn lessons by learning and playing "devil's" advocate.  When we read this passage,

Mar 3:26  And if Satan rise up against himself, and be divided, he cannot stand, but hath an end.
Mar 3:27  No man can enter into a strong man's house, and spoil his goods, except he will first bind the strongman; and then he will spoil his house.

Here we learn a lesson that in order to plunder one's house you must first BIND up the strongman.  While we realize in this particular passage this is referring to God binding up the strongman (Satan) and this is how Satan's house is plundered.  But if you carefully analyze the enemy -- you realize that he uses the same tactics on us!  Your house cannot be plundered -- unless you are first bound.   And then Satan can plunder your house!

    • Abraham and Issac: Pictures of the Resurrection, Part 2
      Shalom everyone,

As we continue this series the next obvious sign of the resurrection in the Old Testament is the sign of Isaac and Abraham.

Gen 22:1  After these things God tested Abraham and said to him, "Abraham!" And he said, "Here I am."
Gen 22:2  He said, "Take your son, your only son Isaac, whom you love, and go to the land of Moriah, and offer him there as a burnt offering on one of the mountains of which I shall tell you."

So God "tests" Abraham and as a perfect picture of the coming sacrifice of God's only begotten Son (Yeshua - Jesus) God instructs Issac to go and sacrifice his son, Issac.  Where does he say to offer him?  On Moriah -- the exact location of the Temple Mount.
