We, here in America, supposedly have the best health care system around and yet we have the sickest people on Earth, and over 50 million people don't have any insurance, whatsoever. Something is drastically wrong.

Medications are expensive because of the research dollars and all the years it takes for a drug to come to market (average 10 years). The pharmaceutical companies have to recoop their loss as well as make enough of a profit to justify making the product in the first place. Renagel, for example, may only cost 5 cents a pill (I have no idea, just speculating), but Genzyme put millions of dollars or more into the entire project. Since it was FDA approved in 2000, the patent will be running out soon, making the drug cheaper.

Obviously, I will not give out any medical advice, but has your husband's doctor tried him on Phoslo instead of Renagel? It's not recommended for patients with high calcium levels, and if that's the case with your husband, then he's better with Renagel, but it's worth looking into because of cost consideration.

Also, when I was between insurance companies, I discovered my medication is cheaper to me without insurance because it's on the national formulary. Now that I have insurance again, I have not reported it to my pharmacy. You might want to check into that. It's doubtful any of your husband's renal related meds are on it, and I am 99% Renagel is not, but hopefully you will save a few bucks by looking into it.

Over the last 10 years I have been no stranger to the price of meds, I have been on so many different ones it was hard to keep track of them. Costco is usually cheaper than anywhere else and you don't have to be a member to use the pharmacy. There are programs out there but have a very limited range as far as monthly income goes and I never qualified but you might look into it. I am on a med that I will need to take for the rest of my life with no exceptions and have no insurance and it costs me about 60 a month. I have been thinking of getting it from the UK and I can order it off the internet. A friend of mine does this and gets her meds really cheap so that may be something you could look into also.

As far as the commercials!! Just listening to the side effects is enough to kill a person. :whistling:

Everyone needs to read an earlier Dick Morris book, "Outrage", to see how the drug companies are raping us beyond belief. There are a lot of other outrages outlined in it, too. You'll get really angry reading it.

No, Renagel doesn't cost 5 cent a pill. I said, it would be nice if ALL prescription pills cost only 5 cent each. 180 x 5 = $9.00 for a bottle of 180 tablets. These Renagel tablets cost total, $1147.00. Each tablet costs about $9.67. Roughy $10 a tablet.

I'd be interested in finding out what the salaries of the CEO's of the pharmaceutical companies make. I would bet it is in the hundreds of millions or even billions. IMO, too much is spent on the people at the top. As for the research. How can the FDA passed drugs into society that kill the people who take them? and then turn around and say vitamins should be banned?

I'm talking manufacturing costs.

BTW, any thoughts on my suggestions?

Drugs being passed that are potentially fatal is the main reason so many years and monies are put into research before it comes to market. However, I agree the FDA has made alot of mistakes, which is why they have been hyper-vigilant the past couple of years (which they need to be). Vitamins should not be banned, but the concern is since they do not have to undergo FDA research standards, then safety and efficacy are not verified. I think the right thing for vitamins and other supplements have already been done, and that is not to force the manufacturers to comply with the lengthy and costly clinical research, but to also make disclaimers that any potential benefits is unverifiable.

    • You are coming up higher in this season – above the assignments of character assassination and verbal arrows sent to manage you, contain you, and derail your purpose. Where you have had your dreams and sleep robbed, as well as your peace and clarity robbed – leaving you feeling foggy, confused, and heavy – God is, right now, bringing freedom back -- now you will clearly see the smoke and mirrors that were set to distract you and you will disengage.

Right now God is declaring a "no access zone" around you, and your enemies will no longer have any entry point into your life. Oil is being poured over you to restore the years that the locust ate and give you back your passion. This is where you will feel a fresh roar begin to erupt from your inner being, and a call to leave the trenches behind and begin your odyssey in your Christ calling moving you to bear fruit that remains as you minister to and disciple others into their Christ identity.

This is where you leave the trenches and scale the mountain to fight from a different place, from victory, from peace, and from rest. Now watch as God leads you up higher above all the noise, above all the chaos, and shows you where you have been seated all along with Him in heavenly places where you are UNTOUCHABLE. This is where you leave the soul fight, and the mind battle, and learn to fight differently.

You will know how to live like an eagle and lead others to the same place of safety and protection that God led you to, which broke you out of the silent prison you were in. Put your war boots on and get ready to fight back! Refuse to lay down -- get out of bed and rebuke what is coming at you. Remember where you are seated and live from that place.

Acts 1:8 - “But you will receive power when the Holy Spirit has come upon you, and you will be my witnesses … to the end of the earth.”

    • Understanding the Enemy!

I thought I write about the flip side of a topic, and how to recognize the attempts of the enemy to destroy lives and how you can walk in His victory!

For the Apostle Paul taught us not to be ignorant of enemy's tactics and strategies.

2 Corinthians 2:112  Lest Satan should get an advantage of us: for we are not ignorant of his devices.

So often, we can learn lessons by learning and playing "devil's" advocate.  When we read this passage,

Mar 3:26  And if Satan rise up against himself, and be divided, he cannot stand, but hath an end.
Mar 3:27  No man can enter into a strong man's house, and spoil his goods, except he will first bind the strongman; and then he will spoil his house.

Here we learn a lesson that in order to plunder one's house you must first BIND up the strongman.  While we realize in this particular passage this is referring to God binding up the strongman (Satan) and this is how Satan's house is plundered.  But if you carefully analyze the enemy -- you realize that he uses the same tactics on us!  Your house cannot be plundered -- unless you are first bound.   And then Satan can plunder your house!

    • Abraham and Issac: Pictures of the Resurrection, Part 2
      Shalom everyone,

As we continue this series the next obvious sign of the resurrection in the Old Testament is the sign of Isaac and Abraham.

Gen 22:1  After these things God tested Abraham and said to him, "Abraham!" And he said, "Here I am."
Gen 22:2  He said, "Take your son, your only son Isaac, whom you love, and go to the land of Moriah, and offer him there as a burnt offering on one of the mountains of which I shall tell you."

So God "tests" Abraham and as a perfect picture of the coming sacrifice of God's only begotten Son (Yeshua - Jesus) God instructs Issac to go and sacrifice his son, Issac.  Where does he say to offer him?  On Moriah -- the exact location of the Temple Mount.
