A proper military uniform has a female version. British Number 2 Dress has a skirt for female soldiers.

That sounds real suitable!! :emot-hug:

It's eminently suitable for its intended purpose. Look up "Number 2 Dress."

Yes, British soldiers wear trousers (not pantaloons) in the field. Even the women.

My comment was rather tongue-in-cheek. Sorry to be so subtle... ;)

No problem, I wasn't looking at your mouth at the time I posted and I must have missed it...

It does seem pretty out there. The only problem I have with women wearing trousers is the ones who won't wear skirts at all! :whistling:

Why?

I mean, some women just don't like them. I do, and I wear skirts and dresses with some frequency, but I would understand a woman who prefers not to or doesn't feel as comfortable in them.

Women who do not ever wear clothing made specifically for females usually are not ultra feminine, they fit somewhere on the scale between tomboy, take it or leave it or mildly feminine. Some men like women who are very feminine (ingenue, soft, lacy, etc) and the personality type that is such usually will wear a dress or skirt every once in a while at least. And some men like women who have the contrasting elements to their persona ( the whole leather or jeans one day, lace the next thing). They too will wear the items at least once in a while.

I used to feel uncomfortable in them a long, long time ago, when I was little. Now I feel the exact opposite. I enjoy the freedom of movement a skirt or dress gives and it makes me feel feminine, pants make me feel like a grunt (or an unsex at least) and now that is the only time I wear them (womens pants to be sure) at all. I would prefer not to but it seems like an uphill battle to keep people from looking up your dress when you climb for some reason.

Sorry, I haven't read every post in this thread, but I want to share a small testimony . . .

I don't wear shorts very often simply because of personal preference. However, I struggled with this when I first got saved. A very loving couple took me in and began to mentor me in the things of God. They did not believe women should wear shorts, so they taught me the same. I never agreed with them, so I asked GOD what He thought.

To make a long, long story short this is the basic conversation I had with God . . .

Me . . . "Why can't I wear shorts if they are decent and modest?"

God: "I never said you couldn't."

Me: "But God, my friends who love you dearly are teaching me that I shouldn't wear shorts, and I don't see anything wrong with wearing shorts. What should I do?"

God: "I never said you couldn't."

Me: "But God I trust these people . . . "

God: "I never said you couldn't!"

God Himself never told me I couldn't wear shorts, but I was making a big deal out of it because of what my friends believed.

We have to know in our own hearts what God wants for our own lives.

Philippians 2:12 says, "Work our your own salvation with fear and trembling."

Everyone is entitled to their own beliefs and their own convictions. Just because God says that something is wrong for me does not automatically make it wrong for everyone else. The key is to have a mature and teachable spirit that is not easily offended. There will always be someone who disagrees, but it is not our job to pass judgment or be offended. It is our responsibility, as Christians, to point out (without a judgmental attitude) what we believe and why, then let God do their convicting and their convincing.

I could be wrong, but I think those who are against women wearing pants are also against women in combat, so it's probably moot. As far as women in the military in non-com roles (which might be what you're asking), such as nurses or clerks, I don't see how wearing skirts in those jobs would get in the way.

However, do you mind if I take this into the civilian realm and ask about female police officers?

I was talking to a policewoman who is rather on the large side, a couple of weeks ago, and she was not happy at all. She was saying that the largest size they had in womens' police trousers was a size 16 and she normally wore a size 20, so until they got some new supplies she had to wear mens' trousers.

I didn't realise it for ages, but mens' trousers are quite different than womens', they are a totally different shape and large women look really quite yukky in mens' trousers, also in womens' trousers for that matter. Short answer, be real, wear what you look good in and what you feel comfortable in.

So if you don't want to wear trousers, stay out of the police, military combat, the fire service and even the post office (apparently the women posties have to wear mens' shorts).

    • You are coming up higher in this season – above the assignments of character assassination and verbal arrows sent to manage you, contain you, and derail your purpose. Where you have had your dreams and sleep robbed, as well as your peace and clarity robbed – leaving you feeling foggy, confused, and heavy – God is, right now, bringing freedom back -- now you will clearly see the smoke and mirrors that were set to distract you and you will disengage.

Right now God is declaring a "no access zone" around you, and your enemies will no longer have any entry point into your life. Oil is being poured over you to restore the years that the locust ate and give you back your passion. This is where you will feel a fresh roar begin to erupt from your inner being, and a call to leave the trenches behind and begin your odyssey in your Christ calling moving you to bear fruit that remains as you minister to and disciple others into their Christ identity.

This is where you leave the trenches and scale the mountain to fight from a different place, from victory, from peace, and from rest. Now watch as God leads you up higher above all the noise, above all the chaos, and shows you where you have been seated all along with Him in heavenly places where you are UNTOUCHABLE. This is where you leave the soul fight, and the mind battle, and learn to fight differently.

You will know how to live like an eagle and lead others to the same place of safety and protection that God led you to, which broke you out of the silent prison you were in. Put your war boots on and get ready to fight back! Refuse to lay down -- get out of bed and rebuke what is coming at you. Remember where you are seated and live from that place.

Acts 1:8 - “But you will receive power when the Holy Spirit has come upon you, and you will be my witnesses … to the end of the earth.”

    • George Whitten, the visionary behind Worthy Ministries and Worthy News, explores the timing of the Simchat Torah War in Israel. Is this a water-breaking moment? Does the timing of the conflict on October 7 with Hamas signify something more significant on the horizon?

    • Understanding the Enemy!

I thought I write about the flip side of a topic, and how to recognize the attempts of the enemy to destroy lives and how you can walk in His victory!

For the Apostle Paul taught us not to be ignorant of enemy's tactics and strategies.

2 Corinthians 2:112  Lest Satan should get an advantage of us: for we are not ignorant of his devices.

So often, we can learn lessons by learning and playing "devil's" advocate.  When we read this passage,

Mar 3:26  And if Satan rise up against himself, and be divided, he cannot stand, but hath an end.
Mar 3:27  No man can enter into a strong man's house, and spoil his goods, except he will first bind the strongman; and then he will spoil his house.

Here we learn a lesson that in order to plunder one's house you must first BIND up the strongman.  While we realize in this particular passage this is referring to God binding up the strongman (Satan) and this is how Satan's house is plundered.  But if you carefully analyze the enemy -- you realize that he uses the same tactics on us!  Your house cannot be plundered -- unless you are first bound.   And then Satan can plunder your house!

    • Daniel: Pictures of the Resurrection, Part 3

    • Abraham and Issac: Pictures of the Resurrection, Part 2
      Shalom everyone,

As we continue this series the next obvious sign of the resurrection in the Old Testament is the sign of Isaac and Abraham.

Gen 22:1  After these things God tested Abraham and said to him, "Abraham!" And he said, "Here I am."
Gen 22:2  He said, "Take your son, your only son Isaac, whom you love, and go to the land of Moriah, and offer him there as a burnt offering on one of the mountains of which I shall tell you."

So God "tests" Abraham and as a perfect picture of the coming sacrifice of God's only begotten Son (Yeshua - Jesus) God instructs Issac to go and sacrifice his son, Issac.  Where does he say to offer him?  On Moriah -- the exact location of the Temple Mount.
