That's a funny thought, though. To imagine myself sinless? I'd have to have an ego the size of Nebraska....

Or you would have an ego like The Apostle Paul:

1 Thessalonians 2:10

You are witnesses, and so is God, of how holy, righteous and blameless we were among you who believed.

1 Corinthians 11:1

Follow my example, as I follow the example of Christ.

2 Timothy 4:7

I have fought the good fight, I have finshed the race, I have kept the faith.  Now there is in store for me a crown of righteousness...

Maybe you forgot who got a thorn in his side to buffet his ego, eh?

He never claimed to be sinless...but practicing a righteous life, which I believe I am doing.

I would absolutely NEVER claim to be sinless. :t2:

We are all a work in progress and anyone who thinks THEY'VE ARRIVED is deluded.

Man, I pity you.

We are all far, far short of the glory of God. Our righteousness is filthy rags; our TRUE righteousness is found in Christ Jesus alone. He IS our righteousness...not by works, less any man should boast.

We are continually being sanctified, from glory to glory...growing and maturing.

If you people think you've reached perfection in your flesh, (on your own) and attribute to yourself "sinlessness" - oh, God help you...:t2:

Truly mature believers realize how much they truly fall short of the perfection of Christ.

We can't even begin to fathom the pure holiness of our Creator. We are mere children, learning, growing and walking with our Father.

There are none without sin. Although you might make every effort to avoid sin, your very nature is tainted.

Since we are imperfect beings, we are incapable of living lives completely without sin. Fortunately, the only ONE perfect Person, the Lord Jesus Christ...satisfied our righteous requirements in full.

If we COULD fulfill the righteous requirements of the Law, then there would be no need whatsoever for the blood of Jesus Christ to cover us. In Him alone do I have confidence.

Amen Adstar! That verse sheds a whole lot of light. No one is sinless. We can ask for forgiveness and be instantly forgiven and let a thought pass through and our mind is off of Jesus.

Do you firmly believe and hold to the fact that you are without sin ?

I will answer you Bob. I am presently at this exact moment without sin (I haven't sinned today). Have I messed up in the past week, sure, have I repented, yes. Will I ever get to the point in my Christian walk where I don't sin, I hope so. Spiritually I am not there yet, but through the Holy Spirit's conviction and power in my life, I believe one day I can be. Be ye perfect.., God said it, I believe it.

Debbie

Hi'ya Debbie!

I know where you stand, and you know where I stand so there's little point in going 'round & 'round on this one again :)However, you say you have not sinned yet today....right ? While you may not have committed any sins, have you omitted anything you should have done but did not ? Are you absolutely positive that you have lived up to the 100 % perfect potential that God requires of you ?

It's often easy to overlook these acts of omission because they are generally passive in nature; but we need to remember that failure to act or doing something we are supposed to do is just as much a sin as an act of commission ( an active form of sin ).

Kick that one around in your head for awhile, and see if you can still honestly answer my question with a "yes, I have not sinned yet today". I'd suspect that you would be deceiving yourself if you still think you're without sin.

And would someone please explain this verse to me - because it seems so crystal clear to me....

1 John 1:8-10

8 If we say that we have no sin, we deceive ourselves, and the truth is not in us.

9 If we confess our sins, he is faithful and just to forgive us our sins, and to cleanse us from all unrighteousness.

10 If we say that we have not sinned, we make him a liar, and his word is not in us.

In His service,

Bob

The fact that she stated "she has not sinned" has made her a sinner because God says all have sinned so she's calling God a liar. She's acting in rebellion against Him, she hasn't an accurate view of herself and it also shows pride. I don't mean to be so harsh but unless you pray about this and ask God to grant you a true understanding of this subject, then He will deal much more harshly with you. I'm not pointing fingers believe me, we are all learning here - but think about what you're implying......that you are sinless, perfect, like God. You have elevated yourself above all man deeming yourself equal to God. You are denying the battle between flesh and spirit. You no longer need Christ's forgiveness because you don't sin supposedly. That also means you are not confessing anything to Him because in your mind yoiu don't sin. Can't you see how dangerous this is? Please seek God on this.

There's just no getting around this:

8 If we say that we have no sin, we deceive ourselves, and the truth is not in us.

I agree with you 100 % BPC! If one refuses to acknowledge their sins, then they feel they have nothing to repent of.... That is such a dangerous mind frame to be in! What was Satan's first lie to Eve in the Garden ? His first lie was a lie! He was calling God a liar "God isn't telling you the truth" he said; God knows you'll be like Him....isn't that what being without sin is like ? To be like God ?

I keep seeing over & over people quoting verses such as "go and sin no more " or "Be ye perfect".....I don't see these as a command per se from Jesus. Jesus is just stating His ( God's ) level of perfection that He demands. Because He is perfect and His righteousness demands sin free perfection, He can't say anything else.....you wouldn't hear Jesus saying "go and do the best you can" because His perfection & just righteousness demands nothing less than His standard - however He knows we can't follow His demands perfectly; therefore there had to be some other way provided if we were to be saved....and there is! That's why He died - because we can't do it ourselves. This does not justify our sinful behavior in any way, but I simply don't think when Jesus said "go and sin no more" He was stating that we somehow can live up to this potential that only God Himself can obtain. He demands it - yes, but He knows we can't do it - that's why He had to take our place.

I asked this in the other thread, but I'm just curious how some of our brothers & sisters who claim to be without sin pray -

Like the Pharisee -

Luke 18:11-12

11 The Pharisee stood up and prayed about himself: 'God, I thank you that I am not like other men--robbers, evildoers, adulterers--or even like this tax collector.

12 I fast twice a week and give a tenth of all I get.'

....or like the tax collector -

Luke 18:13

13 "But the tax collector stood at a distance. He would not even look up to heaven, but beat his breast and said, 'God, have mercy on me, a sinner.'

What does Jesus have to say about the two ? Let's see....

Luke 18:14

14 "I tell you that this man, rather than the other, went home justified before God. For everyone who exalts himself will be humbled, and he who humbles himself will be exalted."

It's obvious that we must humble ourselves and beg for forgiveness ( of our sins )...not act like we do not sin!

As for an example of a sin of omission, here's one Jesus used -

Luke 18:18-29

18 A certain ruler asked him, "Good teacher, what must I do to inherit eternal life?"

19 "Why do you call me good?" Jesus answered. "No one is good--except God alone.

20 You know the commandments: 'Do not commit adultery, do not murder, do not steal, do not give false testimony, honor your father and mother. "

21 "All these I have kept since I was a boy," he said.

22 When Jesus heard this, he said to him, "You still lack one thing. Sell everything you have and give to the poor, and you will have treasure in heaven. Then come, follow me."

23 When he heard this, he became very sad, because he was a man of great wealth.

24 Jesus looked at him and said, "How hard it is for the rich to enter the kingdom of God!

25 Indeed, it is easier for a camel to go through the eye of a needle than for a rich man to enter the kingdom of God."

26 Those who heard this asked, "Who then can be saved?"

27Jesus replied, "What is impossible with men is possible with God."

28 Peter said to him, "We have left all we had to follow you!"

29 "I tell you the truth," Jesus said to them, "no one who has left home or wife or brothers or parents or children for the sake of the kingdom of God

And, I'm sure you guys are getting tired of reading this one, but since ya just don't seem to get it, here it is again!

I have seen a lot of opinions and misrepresentations of Scripture.

Now I will tell you the TRUTH.

John 8:34

I tell you the truth, everyone who sins is a slave to sin.

Well said

James 4:17

Therefore, to him who knows to do good and does not do it, to him it is sin.

Ecclesiastes 7

19Wisdom strengthens the wise More than ten rulers of the city. 20For there is not a just man on earth who does good And does not sin.

    • You are coming up higher in this season – above the assignments of character assassination and verbal arrows sent to manage you, contain you, and derail your purpose. Where you have had your dreams and sleep robbed, as well as your peace and clarity robbed – leaving you feeling foggy, confused, and heavy – God is, right now, bringing freedom back -- now you will clearly see the smoke and mirrors that were set to distract you and you will disengage.

Right now God is declaring a "no access zone" around you, and your enemies will no longer have any entry point into your life. Oil is being poured over you to restore the years that the locust ate and give you back your passion. This is where you will feel a fresh roar begin to erupt from your inner being, and a call to leave the trenches behind and begin your odyssey in your Christ calling moving you to bear fruit that remains as you minister to and disciple others into their Christ identity.

This is where you leave the trenches and scale the mountain to fight from a different place, from victory, from peace, and from rest. Now watch as God leads you up higher above all the noise, above all the chaos, and shows you where you have been seated all along with Him in heavenly places where you are UNTOUCHABLE. This is where you leave the soul fight, and the mind battle, and learn to fight differently.

You will know how to live like an eagle and lead others to the same place of safety and protection that God led you to, which broke you out of the silent prison you were in. Put your war boots on and get ready to fight back! Refuse to lay down -- get out of bed and rebuke what is coming at you. Remember where you are seated and live from that place.

Acts 1:8 - “But you will receive power when the Holy Spirit has come upon you, and you will be my witnesses … to the end of the earth.”

    • Understanding the Enemy!

I thought I write about the flip side of a topic, and how to recognize the attempts of the enemy to destroy lives and how you can walk in His victory!

For the Apostle Paul taught us not to be ignorant of enemy's tactics and strategies.

2 Corinthians 2:112  Lest Satan should get an advantage of us: for we are not ignorant of his devices.

So often, we can learn lessons by learning and playing "devil's" advocate.  When we read this passage,

Mar 3:26  And if Satan rise up against himself, and be divided, he cannot stand, but hath an end.
Mar 3:27  No man can enter into a strong man's house, and spoil his goods, except he will first bind the strongman; and then he will spoil his house.

Here we learn a lesson that in order to plunder one's house you must first BIND up the strongman.  While we realize in this particular passage this is referring to God binding up the strongman (Satan) and this is how Satan's house is plundered.  But if you carefully analyze the enemy -- you realize that he uses the same tactics on us!  Your house cannot be plundered -- unless you are first bound.   And then Satan can plunder your house!

    • Abraham and Issac: Pictures of the Resurrection, Part 2
      Shalom everyone,

As we continue this series the next obvious sign of the resurrection in the Old Testament is the sign of Isaac and Abraham.

Gen 22:1  After these things God tested Abraham and said to him, "Abraham!" And he said, "Here I am."
Gen 22:2  He said, "Take your son, your only son Isaac, whom you love, and go to the land of Moriah, and offer him there as a burnt offering on one of the mountains of which I shall tell you."

So God "tests" Abraham and as a perfect picture of the coming sacrifice of God's only begotten Son (Yeshua - Jesus) God instructs Issac to go and sacrifice his son, Issac.  Where does he say to offer him?  On Moriah -- the exact location of the Temple Mount.
