I often take some heat in these posts because I do not believe in the power of government over GOD. I see the plight of the world and I know that only GOD can make the changes we want to see.

The only time I will ever spend in concern about what I see in the world is the time I spend in these forums. And that because this is the time that I am doing little else.

There is no place in all of the teaching and scriptures that tells us Christians should be all wrapped up in the concerns of the world. We are supposed to be singularly focussed on the spread of the gospel and the saving of souls. What good we do, we are to do for the honor of GOD and the glory of JESUS CHRIST.

I come here to try to undo decades of bad teaching and wrong ideas of what we are supposed to be in the world. Most importantly, to undo the teaching that sitting on the couch and praying will not get it done when this is the most important thing we can do, take our hands off and let GOD have it.

We are supposed to be working to change the minds and hearts of society by the spread of the gospel and the power of GOD. We are not ever called to pass laws to make people live the way we think they should live. Laws are a reflection of sociaty as a whole, they can not be used to stem the tide of evil, only the spread of the gospel can do that.

Everytime We have been faced with a test, to see if we would continue in our trust of GOD, we have chosen to take matters into our own hands and GOD has backed off and let us. As a result, things are getting worse. If we could realize that it is our pride that fosters a belief that we can change these things, maybe we would finally toss our hands up in the air, fall on our knees and realize that we are defeated because we walk by sight and not by faith, because we use the weapons of this world to fight a spiritual battle.

And when we have humbled ourselves and sought HIS face, and turned from this wickedness, then HE will hear from Heaven, HE will forgive us, HE will heal our land.

I think we missed the boat on that one.

Just my opinion.

For God so Loved the World....Jesus defeated Satan on the cross with Love...of course the World is cursed..thanks to darkness...and we know the end of the story..in the mean time...Jesus wants to see us display his love and obediance and faithfulness thru light...this isn't a big game of tag your saved like many want to believe...everybody is tested everyday ...your attitude, behavior, and actions...are they godly or ungodly...Godly loving or satan hateful...

Love always protects...you better be concerned about the world...I want my family in a safe, Godly loving environment....and it is not easy because of people like you...if your not striving for that and don't care...then the enemy sneaks in and brings about wickedness and destruction...

As a child of God, Jesus is suppose to be within us...we are suppose to be wheat amongs weeds...light amongst darkness...I disagree with you totally...I think Children of Jesus should be striving for positions of authority....whether Government, Corporations, Entertainment, etc. .and proclaiming and living the Love of Jesus...And instill his way into this world...and not just talk it...but live it...

Amen!! I posted this in my other thread, but I'll post it here just for the sake of other readers.

To not get involved with the evilness and wickedness of this world is a complete disservice to Jesus. Jesus uses us and works through us all the time. What you are asking us to do here Kross is turn a blind eye and ignore the issues that need work, the work God has called many of us to do. We can't just ignore the problems and evilness, throw our hands up and say it's all yours God. There are too many people out there with hardened hearts (part of God's plan). The world that we live in would absolutely crumble. I too want my children to live in a safe, Godly environment and if we sit back and do nothing that will never happen.

I'm not well schooled in my Bible verses, but I do know that Jesus is very protective of children. He speaks out about anyone harming them or anyone allowing harm to come to them. I think he's going to be very displeased with the people of the world who are too involved with themselves to worry about helping children.

I have to agree with this even though I follow all that is going on I don't get all wrapped up in it. Joel Rosenberg wrote this on his blog;

Finally, let us consider the possibility that the Lord is allowing this economic meltdown in part to shake our confidence in anything but a personal relationship with Jesus Christ. Is it possible that God is trying to shake us loose from trusting in our wealth, from trusting in our political leaders, from trusting in our own ingenuity and our own hard work? Is it possible that He is trying to get us to shift our focus from worldly, materialistic things to how much He loves us, and the truth that the only person we can truly trust in life to never leave us or forsake us is Jesus Christ? Is it possible that He is trying to get us to read the Bible more, and the stock tickers less? To pray more, and to worry less? To store up our treasures in heaven, and not concentrate so much on our treasures on earth?

I think it says much in where we should be focusing more of our attention.

Is it possible that there are good points to both sides?

Indeed we are to be praying and seeking the LORD concerning all issues. We must commit or turn over to Him all things, trust in Him and then He will act. However, He often acts through his people. According to scripture a nation mourns when it has evil leadership. It makes a difference when godly men and women are in leadership positions for they are in the places of authority to bring blessing of all kinds to people. It makes a difference when godly people are in working places reaching out in kindness towards all they meet. We are the light in this world. We are Christ's body. May God cause us to see how important each grain of salt is in this world.

Oh the importance of being a Christian neighbor! Praying for a neighborhood. Reaching out to the persons of a neighborhood.

Nothing takes the place of prayer and seeking the LORD. But if anyone ever walked this earth serving people it was our Lord. May we integrate both in our lives.

We do not have to be entertaining the spirit of this world to be making a difference in it.

I never saw JESUS doing that in the scriptures. I guess i will have to go back and look. Seems to me HE told us to seek the position of a servant, not authority.

I feel sorry for you. You think you can do better than GOD. Have at it.
