I think he was just a good guy and wanted what was best for our country (rather than himself) and people could recognize that in him. I think his being older was an advantage because I find that older people in general don't worry as much about what people think or say if they know they're right. But Reagan was also very, very smart, he knew how to pick his battles and not burn bridges behind him.

I find that comment very interesting, charlie.

I think that Bush is the exact mold of a man but because of the times we live in, people don't believe he is what he seems to be.

Did you mean to say you thought Bush was the exact mold of Reagan?

I wanted to think that.....at first, but I don't think Bush and Reagan are alike when you get down to the nitty-gritty. I don't think many people are really "like" Ronald Reagan, which is unfortunate for us.

You know who I liked, who the press hated? I really like Dan Quayle......I liked him better than both Bushes. He was a smart man and a good man in my opinion but the press ruined him. The gipper had a knack for getting around the press haha! Thank goodness. Perhaps with a little more age on him Dan Quayle could have faired a little better in the spotlight.

I must say though, both Pres. Bush sr. and Pres. Bush junior gave nice talks at the funeral a few minutes ago. Did you hear what Sr. said in response to the question put for to Reagan after his meeting with Bishop Tutu? They asked how the meetinng with Tutu went? Reagan responded so-so. Hahaha!! Everybody laughed.

Sometimes I wonder how Pres. Reagan would have handled the situation today. It's difficult of course, but then the world situation was difficult when he was in office. The "world" situation has always been difficult when you think about it. No generation is *special* in this regard.

My two favorite presidents of all time, are President Lincoln and President Reagan.

He would have found some way to make us laugh!

One thing about the funeral that did bother me, something I heard mentioned by James Dobson earlier this week, how the mention of his fight for school prayer and the sanctity of life for the unborn have been going unsaid.

And that one bishop or whatever he was, how he kept talking about "the Light," but he wouldn't say Who the Light is! Goodness, man - you said this was a church and as such this was a service of faith - for crying out loud why are you reluctant to speak the name of Jesus!?

****************************************************

I am glad that at least Pres. Reagan's faith was mentioned several times, especially where it was mentioned he prayed for the guy who shot him before he prayed for himself. That I hadn't heard before. Good show!

Love it, Love it!

More Reagan Quotes:

Former Vice President Bush talking with President Reagan:

Vice President Bush:"Sir, how'd your meeting go today with Bishop Tu Tu?"

President Reagan: "So so."

***************************

President Reagan responding to a news reporter at a re-election campaign rally:

Reporter: "President Reagan, what about Mr. Mondale's charges?"

President Reagan: "Umm...well, I think he should pay them."

Michael Reagan mentioned the name of Jesus in his speach last night!

Way to go Michael!!!

******************************************

My heart really does go out to Nancy Reagan, though. I can only imagine how much of a strain it's been to have to be there through all the pomp and circumstances, all the while maintaining a straight composure (whose dumb idea was it anyway that people have to be "strong" - as in can't cry - during times of grief? Ugh!).

I can only imagine that the grief of loss has been balanced out by the relief that his suffering is over. I can say this because my own grandfather died from encephalitis (I think I got that right) - which is that fluid collected in his brain, which slowly deteriorated it. You've been slowly losing the man over the years, and so in a way he was already gone, and you do feel the gladness that it's over. But you still miss the "feeling" of his presence being there.

When Mrs. Reagan hugged the coffin for her final good-bye, you could tell that this is how her heart took it - this really is it. I'm just glad the children were able to be ther to surround her like they did.

But yeah, I ended up crying for her pain more than I did over my own feeling of loss.

I was glad to hear Michael Reagan use the name of Jesus Christ also. I thought he gave a very nice eulogy. I thought that minister was a little *different* though. I thought there for a minute he was mimicking Margaret Thatcher. Was he? or did his voice just crack?

Does anyone know if President Reagan was aware that Maureen had died? Did alzheimers spare him that pain?

No..heavens no. Not George Herbert Walker Bush but President George W Bush....ya know...the man currently in office?

I think I know you well enough to know that you won't agree...but I sincerely believe that GW Bush makes his decision based on right vs wrong with a healthy does of respect for the office and position of the President of the United States.

This is what makes him comparable to Reagan.

In fact, it was only Reagan's response to terrorism that showed any weakness. I was very disappointed in how we cut & ran from the Marine barracks bombing in Beirut.

Not sure what else could have been done but that only encouraged terrorists to continue attacking us and made 9-11 possible.

Like Reagan and communism....I don't think the current President gets the deserved credit for having the courage to take on such a politically hot potato.

Is that how potato is spelled? Maybe I should ask Dan Quayle!

I also agree that Mr Quayle was a righteous man that was ridiculed by the liberal media for being so.

    • You are coming up higher in this season – above the assignments of character assassination and verbal arrows sent to manage you, contain you, and derail your purpose. Where you have had your dreams and sleep robbed, as well as your peace and clarity robbed – leaving you feeling foggy, confused, and heavy – God is, right now, bringing freedom back -- now you will clearly see the smoke and mirrors that were set to distract you and you will disengage.

Right now God is declaring a "no access zone" around you, and your enemies will no longer have any entry point into your life. Oil is being poured over you to restore the years that the locust ate and give you back your passion. This is where you will feel a fresh roar begin to erupt from your inner being, and a call to leave the trenches behind and begin your odyssey in your Christ calling moving you to bear fruit that remains as you minister to and disciple others into their Christ identity.

This is where you leave the trenches and scale the mountain to fight from a different place, from victory, from peace, and from rest. Now watch as God leads you up higher above all the noise, above all the chaos, and shows you where you have been seated all along with Him in heavenly places where you are UNTOUCHABLE. This is where you leave the soul fight, and the mind battle, and learn to fight differently.

You will know how to live like an eagle and lead others to the same place of safety and protection that God led you to, which broke you out of the silent prison you were in. Put your war boots on and get ready to fight back! Refuse to lay down -- get out of bed and rebuke what is coming at you. Remember where you are seated and live from that place.

Acts 1:8 - “But you will receive power when the Holy Spirit has come upon you, and you will be my witnesses … to the end of the earth.”

    • Understanding the Enemy!

I thought I write about the flip side of a topic, and how to recognize the attempts of the enemy to destroy lives and how you can walk in His victory!

For the Apostle Paul taught us not to be ignorant of enemy's tactics and strategies.

2 Corinthians 2:112  Lest Satan should get an advantage of us: for we are not ignorant of his devices.

So often, we can learn lessons by learning and playing "devil's" advocate.  When we read this passage,

Mar 3:26  And if Satan rise up against himself, and be divided, he cannot stand, but hath an end.
Mar 3:27  No man can enter into a strong man's house, and spoil his goods, except he will first bind the strongman; and then he will spoil his house.

Here we learn a lesson that in order to plunder one's house you must first BIND up the strongman.  While we realize in this particular passage this is referring to God binding up the strongman (Satan) and this is how Satan's house is plundered.  But if you carefully analyze the enemy -- you realize that he uses the same tactics on us!  Your house cannot be plundered -- unless you are first bound.   And then Satan can plunder your house!

    • Abraham and Issac: Pictures of the Resurrection, Part 2
      Shalom everyone,

As we continue this series the next obvious sign of the resurrection in the Old Testament is the sign of Isaac and Abraham.

Gen 22:1  After these things God tested Abraham and said to him, "Abraham!" And he said, "Here I am."
Gen 22:2  He said, "Take your son, your only son Isaac, whom you love, and go to the land of Moriah, and offer him there as a burnt offering on one of the mountains of which I shall tell you."

So God "tests" Abraham and as a perfect picture of the coming sacrifice of God's only begotten Son (Yeshua - Jesus) God instructs Issac to go and sacrifice his son, Issac.  Where does he say to offer him?  On Moriah -- the exact location of the Temple Mount.
