Hi, recenlty my husband and I have been discussing about Jesus being very God and Very man. My question is what about his earthly pilgrimage. My husband maintains that He gave up his "godness" and that He didn't resume this until after His baptism in the Jordan River when the Holy Spirit came upon Him. I have trouble understanding this because I personally don't believe that God fell off The Throne when Jesus was born as a helpless infant. Didn't He still have all power then too?

I hope I'm making sense. Please give me Scripture references (at least two corresponding ones ) when you reply. Thanks! Looking fwd to learning more.. :noidea:

I only wish I had been old enough, or trained early enough to understand what the Lord gave my Grandfather......

God talks to each person in their own way. Papaw was stone deaf, yet knew the Lord very well, you see, that was the only one that Papaw could hear, he could not hear man, he could read lips very well, and I mean very well, but could not hear a cannon being shot, could feel the ground vibrate when a frog jumped but could not hear the croak (he was not born deaf, but lost his hearing due to adnoise.)

as I was saying God speaks to people in their own ways, a one on one relationship..... as a father, I talk with each of my sons differently, one i can relate to one way, and the other a different way, as with any child, every one is different then the others and thus each one requires a different mode of communications....

Now, Papaw was also a mathematician, an engineer for Beech Aircraft, I still have one of his slide rules that he used on the job...... (for those that are unfamiliar with a slide rule, they are a modern day calculator, one that can add, subtract, multiply, divide, figure square roots, and just about any function you can imagine, even with Calculus a very good tool to learn to use)..... anyways, getting back to the gist of this post, Papaw proved that Christ was and is, both Divine and Mortal at the same time.... using mathematics...... Papaw tried to explain it to my mother, but she never got past Algebra, and at the time i had only learned how to do Algebra (7th grade)..... Papaw is at home and needs no further proof of Christ, for he is with Him....... it was not until recent years, i wish I had gotten Papaw to write it all down with the explanations so that it could be passed on to others...... Papaw Loves the Lord, and taught me to also, so I had (have) no need for further proof other then Gods Word.......

the best I can do is this.......

God is Love....... and what is pure unadulterated love? why, it is nothing more then pure unadulterated energy. and Christ being in the flesh (would be mortal) and yet, being full of pure love, would be full of pure energy, which, for example, is what left Him when the woman touched the hem of his garment (virtue) as with any healing He did, energy left Him and filled others which healed them. and the pure energy, pure love is nothing more then being immortal.... even the explanations of the shroud, where they almost captured the same type of image with a blast of heat/radiation (energy).... the energy that it takes to bring a body back to life would have to be very intense and very pure......

anyways, that is not Papaws explanation, but my thoughts on how it might be....

blessings.......

and Thomas believed because he saw, and was blessed....... how much more are those that have not seen and yet believe

As far as before his baptism is concerned, I have to believe he was just as divine from birth to that point and beyond.

25 And behold, there was a man in Jerusalem whose name was Simeon, and this man was just and devout, waiting for the Consolation of Israel, and the Holy Spirit was upon him. 26 And it had been revealed to him by the Holy Spirit that he would not see death before he had seen the Lord

I want to say thankyou to all that have submitted posts thus far. I have read them and prayerfully considered their content. I'm not much closer than I was before to a satisfactory conclusion but I believe that will come with time and continuing to search/mine God's Word with the help of The Holy Spirit's illumination as I go along.

Several correlating verses that settles it for me that He never gave up His divinity, only His right to act on it, are found in..

Col.1.19 - KJV- "For it pleased the Father that in Him (Christ) should all fulness dwell:"

Col.2.9 - KJV - "For in Him (Christ) dwelleth all the fulness of the Godhead bodily:"

I wanted to respond to kross that He wasn't tempted without the adversary being present as found clearly in the temptation in the wilderness. I just noticed what you really said about that this a.m.

(I also haven't figured out this partial quote thing in here. Sorry. It worked for me a few times but..)

That He was tempted just like we are yet without sin is what The Bible says. To be tempted like we are He had to have felt the heat. He chose obedience to The Father's Will above all else is why He remained true.

Anyway deeper down this trail we gooooo...

tahnkyou, thankyou, thankyou.. blessings, blessings, blessings.. :o:laugh::blink:

This is Jesus speaking to Nicodemus

John 3:13 (KJV)

And no man hath ascended up to heaven, but he that came down from heaven, even the Son of man which is in heaven.

and this is who he always was

2 John 1:7 (KJV)

For many deceivers are entered into the world, who confess not that Jesus Christ is come in the flesh. This is a deceiver and an antichrist.

    • You are coming up higher in this season – above the assignments of character assassination and verbal arrows sent to manage you, contain you, and derail your purpose. Where you have had your dreams and sleep robbed, as well as your peace and clarity robbed – leaving you feeling foggy, confused, and heavy – God is, right now, bringing freedom back -- now you will clearly see the smoke and mirrors that were set to distract you and you will disengage.

Right now God is declaring a "no access zone" around you, and your enemies will no longer have any entry point into your life. Oil is being poured over you to restore the years that the locust ate and give you back your passion. This is where you will feel a fresh roar begin to erupt from your inner being, and a call to leave the trenches behind and begin your odyssey in your Christ calling moving you to bear fruit that remains as you minister to and disciple others into their Christ identity.

This is where you leave the trenches and scale the mountain to fight from a different place, from victory, from peace, and from rest. Now watch as God leads you up higher above all the noise, above all the chaos, and shows you where you have been seated all along with Him in heavenly places where you are UNTOUCHABLE. This is where you leave the soul fight, and the mind battle, and learn to fight differently.

You will know how to live like an eagle and lead others to the same place of safety and protection that God led you to, which broke you out of the silent prison you were in. Put your war boots on and get ready to fight back! Refuse to lay down -- get out of bed and rebuke what is coming at you. Remember where you are seated and live from that place.

Acts 1:8 - “But you will receive power when the Holy Spirit has come upon you, and you will be my witnesses … to the end of the earth.”

    • George Whitten, the visionary behind Worthy Ministries and Worthy News, explores the timing of the Simchat Torah War in Israel. Is this a water-breaking moment? Does the timing of the conflict on October 7 with Hamas signify something more significant on the horizon?

    • Understanding the Enemy!

I thought I write about the flip side of a topic, and how to recognize the attempts of the enemy to destroy lives and how you can walk in His victory!

For the Apostle Paul taught us not to be ignorant of enemy's tactics and strategies.

2 Corinthians 2:112  Lest Satan should get an advantage of us: for we are not ignorant of his devices.

So often, we can learn lessons by learning and playing "devil's" advocate.  When we read this passage,

Mar 3:26  And if Satan rise up against himself, and be divided, he cannot stand, but hath an end.
Mar 3:27  No man can enter into a strong man's house, and spoil his goods, except he will first bind the strongman; and then he will spoil his house.

Here we learn a lesson that in order to plunder one's house you must first BIND up the strongman.  While we realize in this particular passage this is referring to God binding up the strongman (Satan) and this is how Satan's house is plundered.  But if you carefully analyze the enemy -- you realize that he uses the same tactics on us!  Your house cannot be plundered -- unless you are first bound.   And then Satan can plunder your house!

    • Daniel: Pictures of the Resurrection, Part 3

      Shalom everyone,

    • Abraham and Issac: Pictures of the Resurrection, Part 2
      Shalom everyone,

As we continue this series the next obvious sign of the resurrection in the Old Testament is the sign of Isaac and Abraham.

Gen 22:1  After these things God tested Abraham and said to him, "Abraham!" And he said, "Here I am."
Gen 22:2  He said, "Take your son, your only son Isaac, whom you love, and go to the land of Moriah, and offer him there as a burnt offering on one of the mountains of which I shall tell you."

So God "tests" Abraham and as a perfect picture of the coming sacrifice of God's only begotten Son (Yeshua - Jesus) God instructs Issac to go and sacrifice his son, Issac.  Where does he say to offer him?  On Moriah -- the exact location of the Temple Mount.
