  1. GE, I guess I could've described a shopping cart full of pizzas and ice cream and insinuated that the person pushing that cart would be stuffing their face with all of that junk as soon as they got home. I could have described such a scene, but that's not who I am. When I see someone that I would consider overweight, I don't automatically think of gluttony. To tell you the truth, if that individual is minding their own business, I'm probably doing the same. I don't make snap judgments about people based on their appearance. God searches the heart. I can't do that so I leave the judging up to Him. If overeating is a sin, (as you say) then every overweight person is in a continual state of sin..........and lost.

  2. What does it mean to believe on the Lord Jesus Christ To believe on the Lord Jesus Christ is to believe on who He is, what He did, and to trust in what He has promised. You must believe that Jesus Christ is God Almighty who took on flesh. John 8:24, 58 24 I said therefore unto you, that ye shall die in your sins: for if ye believe not that I am he, ye shall die in your sins. 58 Jesus said unto them, Verily, verily, I say unto you, Before Abraham was, I AM. John 20:28-29 28 And Thomas answered and said unto him, My Lord and my God. 29 Jesus saith unto him, Thomas, because thou hast seen me, thou hast believed: blessed are they that have not seen, and yet have believed. Romans 10:9 That if thou shalt confess with thy mouth the Lord Jesus, and shalt believe in thine heart that God hath raised him from the dead, thou shalt be saved. 1 Corinthians 12:3 Wherefore I give you to understand, that no man speaking by the Spirit of God calleth Jesus accursed: and that no man can say that Jesus is the Lord, but by the Holy Ghost. You must believe in what Jesus Christ did. The Lord Jesus Christ shed His holy blood on the cross as the payment for ours sins, He was buried, and rose again the third day. Romans 1:15-17 15 So, as much as in me is, I am ready to preach the gospel to you that are at Rome also. 16 For I am not ashamed of the gospel of Christ: for it is the power of God unto salvation to every one that believeth; to the Jew first, and also to the Greek. 17 For therein is the righteousness of God revealed from faith to faith: as it is written, The just shall live by faith. 1 Corinthians 15:1-4 1 Moreover, brethren, I declare unto you the gospel which I preached unto you, which also ye have received, and wherein ye stand; 2 By which also ye are saved, if ye keep in memory what I preached unto you, unless ye have believed in vain. 3 For I delivered unto you first of all that which I also received, how that Christ died for our sins according to the scriptures; 4 And that he was buried, and that he rose again the third day according to the scriptures: Romans 3:21-26 21 But now the righteousness of God without the law is manifested, being witnessed by the law and the prophets; 22 Even the righteousness of God which is by faith of Jesus Christ unto all and upon all them that believe: for there is no difference: 23 For all have sinned, and come short of the glory of God; 24 Being justified freely by his grace through the redemption that is in Christ Jesus: 25 Whom God hath set forth to be a propitiation through faith in his blood, to declare his righteousness for the remission of sins that are past, through the forbearance of God; 26 To declare, I say, at this time his righteousness: that he might be just, and the justifier of him which believeth in Jesus. Finally you must believe what Jesus Christ has promised – everlasting life just by faith in Him. John 3:14-18 14 And as Moses lifted up the serpent in the wilderness, even so must the Son of man be lifted up: 15 That whosoever believeth in him should not perish, but have eternal life. 16 For God so loved the world, that he gave his only begotten Son, that whosoever believeth in him should not perish, but have everlasting life. 17 For God sent not his Son into the world to condemn the world; but that the world through him might be saved. 18 He that believeth on him is not condemned: but he that believeth not is condemned already, because he hath not believed in the name of the only begotten Son of God. John 6:47 Verily, verily, I say unto you, He that believeth on me hath everlasting life. John 11:25-26 25 Jesus said unto her, I am the resurrection, and the life: he that believeth in me, though he were dead, yet shall he live: 26 And whosoever liveth and believeth in me shall never die. Believest thou this? Finally anyone who is trying to earn salvation by works or merit, their faith does not count toward salvation. They must stop trying to earn salvation to be saved. You must believe that you are a sinner (ungodly) and there is no other way to pay for sins except by faith the shed blood of Jesus Christ as the payment fro your sins. Romans 4:5 But to him that worketh not, but believeth on him that justifieth the ungodly, his faith is counted for righteousness.

  5. Let's just forget about all the various warriors in the OT or when Jesus told his disciples to buy a sword. Or about the fact when peter drew his sword and cut off that dudes ear Jesus didn't reprimand Peter for having a sword, or even for using it-Jesus reprimanded peter for bad judgement in when to use it Self defense is biblical. Owning a gun for self defense or hunting is certainly not banned by the bible. There isn't anything in the bible at all that forbids us to have guns-it just forbids us from murder. So to say that Christians have no business owning guns is NOT a biblical argument and I will hold on to mine.

  6. How odd.... In my Bible Jesus tells his followers to go and buy a sword and we know that at a minimum Jesus' closest associate carried one and was not afraid to use it

  7. You really need t0o start reading the Bible some more. There is no prohibition on self defense anywhere in it. Lu 11:21 When a strong man armed keeps his palace, his goods are in peace: Ex 22:2 If a thief be found breaking in, and be smitten that he dies, there shall no blood be shed for him. The Spirit and the Person that you are receiving is not passive. Ex 15:3 The LORD is a man of war: the LORD is his name.

  9. I'm about to be more honest then i have ever been with you all ever before, because I think this is a very important subject as many have been hurt/wounded in this thread. it's a FACT that over weight people in this country are treated as if they don't deserve to breath air!..Their called horrible names.... I Happen to over weight, and have been on the recieving side of those scornful look's,snickered at, out right Laughed at, I can forgive them and do, because they are judging with out knowing the whole story. This started in 2008, as i posted earlier in this thread, I lost both of my parent's to cancer 16 month's apart, Then I had to have 3 surgeries...I had to have my left knee replaced, and on April 1st of all day's..Good thing I'm not superstious ..LOL , then I had to have a life saving surgery, that literally had me layed up in bed from november to march,,tied to a wound Vac( if you don't know what that is google it)....so I lost all the use in my left leg that i had gained, so i had to work to get it back,I have gained some of it back, but not all of it,Then I had Shingles, was layed up again....and had to take prednizone again, then i had to have my gall bladder out this past march..layed up again... The life saving surgery left nerve damage as well, healing from my gall bladder surgery has been very slow, i'm still recovering..some day's the only relief i get is to lay down.....so i can't stand for long and walking is still tricky...... Ever feel like you've been drug thru a knot hole by you're feet?? this is how it feel's..LOL and then to be judged by my appearence is the last straw! None of us know what another person is going thru..... look's can be decieving!..Daddy alway's said believe half of what you hear and a third of what you see! many many people can't afford a healthy diet, and don't have the mean's to do any better....GE, what you did for those girl's is to be commended!...... This is what we the church should be about,,NOT picking at one another over thing's such as this! and who know's GE perhap's your gift to them, made a impression on the parent's as well... There are two motto's that i live my life by, " So you want to be great, then learn how to heal people, to hurt people is easy" " Be kinder then you have to be, because you just never know what battle someone else is fighting" well let's make that three..the third one is the "Great Commission" and the second one is like unto it, to love my neighbor as i love myself! It break's my heart to see all the hurting in this thread,to see the unshed tears...and the ones that are shed.....we are to be better then this! I simple can't imagine JESUS saying " you over there , yes you the Fat one..get it together, this is a sin!" can you?? and even those that do over eat, are simply masking a heart breaking problem, trying to fill an empty void in them selves with food....these hurting soul's need our love, not our judgment!

  10. only in that it actually brings in the new covenant. the old testament can not bring you salvation, however the new testament by itself really needs the background of the old to fully understand. if you have to choose only one then the new testament is very much more important. However people are less likely to believe without the background of the old. LoL I hope that makes sense.

  11. Blessings Everyone! Today is the day the Lord has made, let us rejoice and be glad in it!!!......Praise the Lord that He has healed me and I am now in remission but when the doctors told me I had incurable cancer(though I knew God would heal me)...there's something about hearing those words that changes your outlook on life.......hmmm? I had sort of a sigh of relief to be headed home to be with my Lord and yet I was torn (like Paul)because I realized the frailty of life and it suddenly became more precious....it is a gift, and only by His new mercy evryday do our eyes even open every morning..... Glory to God,until I am called home....I will rejoice and be glad in it! With love,in Christ-Kwik
