  1. God was not rebuking Job in the end, He was rebuking Job's cliche Christian 'friends' who philosophized, when really they did not have the guts to tell Job that they could not bear to be there with him, let alone what was happening, and the fact that they were unable to comfort him, just made them uneasy. It would have been easier and far better to be honest with him than to do great speeches of religious nonsense. Some of you already picked up on that. If you read God's speech to Job, it is easy to misjudge God and look at Him in exactly the same way that Job's 'friends' did. Like "God is rebuking you bla bla blah." As God was speaking with Job, He was in fact healing him through His speech, not just his body, but his mind. First bringing him onto his feet. Job could hardly lift a finger before God asked him to. He was so wasted. All the sayings of God are aimed at building up a fortress of resilience and confidence in Job's mind, to assist his patterns of thought and bring him comfort and rest - not in himself, but in God for eternal security, rather than temporary relief. Overwhelmed, Job confessed his own inadequacy, but relied on the greatness of God, with humble confidence. Note the last illustration of the fearless leviathan? All these attributes as illustrated in nature are in God, and God gave Himself to Job, in that conversation, and God said to Job - your friends are a couple of losers, let them turn around and find a better way - make them put up an offering. God did not have a go at Job for his self righteousness, Job was actually quite humble, but the words of God were to identify Himself with him, and not to create a contrast. And by the way, the whole experience was not an experiment. But that's another story.

  2. by George Whitten, Editor of Worthy Devotions Jonah 4:1-5 But it displeased Jonah exceedingly, and he became angry. So he prayed to the LORD, and said, "Ah, LORD, was not this what I said when I was still in my country? Therefore I fled previously to Tarshish; for I know that You [are] a gracious and merciful God, slow to anger and abundant in lovingkindness, One who relents from doing harm. "Therefore now, O LORD, please take my life from me, for [it is] better for me to die than to live!" Then the LORD said, "[is it] right for you to be angry?" So Jonah went out of the city and sat on the east side of the city. There he made himself a shelter and sat under it in the shade, till he might see what would become of the city. We continue looking at Jonah, and find him in Chapter 4 displeased with God's mercy toward Nivevah. The Assyrians were arch-enemies of Israel and among the cruelest nations in history. Instead of being elated that God spared 120,000 Ninevites Jonah preferred to see his own pronouncement of judgment executed by the Lord. "Let those Assyrians get what's coming to them – they deserve to go to hell without any mercy for how they've treated Israel!" The Hebrew word "charah", " to be hot, furious, burn, become angry, be kindled" is a very strong expression for Jonah's feelings as he leaves the city of Nineveh and sets up a shelter to watch what will happen – he seems to be hoping that God might change His mind and destroy Nineveh anyway. Have you ever felt this way? Someone has really hurt you; really done evil to you more than once – you knew from God's point of view he was "begging for a bolt" (of lightening), and you wished judgment would rain upon him. The last thing you want to do is warn him to stop; you want justice, not mercy; maybe even…………revenge! Would you have the courage to admit that? To be really honest with God? Tell Him how disappointed you are that your tormentor hasn't been hit by a truck or developed a brain malignancy? Jonah's honesty is commendable. How many of us would try to hide feelings like that, even from ourselves? "Please take my life." Jonah says. But the Lord understands. Instead of condemning Jonah for his merciless attitude He tries to reason with His prophet. "`Is doing good displeasing to thee?' He asks Jonah. Then Jonah's misery is compounded when the plant God gives him for shade withers and dies. Depressed and angry, Jonah reveals the depth of depravity in human nature. "“It is right for me to be angry, even to death!” he pines. He cannot find joy in the mercy of God. I shudder to think of what would happen to me if I received God's justice for my sins. I would not want to wish His punishment even on my worst enemies. Perhaps Jonah didn't realize that his own attitude was displeasing to God and also deserved His judgment. I'm so thankful for God's mercy to us. We should bless our enemies and pray for those who despitefully use us; we should overcome evil with good. Mercy triumphs over judgment. The Lord gives us the power to be like Him. He did it by dying on the cross and rising from the dead, after three days. Jonah was a sign of this, remember? 5. So true Trinitron, Salty has got his times muddled up. `The rest of the dead did not come to life until the thousand years were completed.` (Rev. 20: 5) Salty, Why many in the Millennium do not turn to God is because it is Israel ruling the nations & people are still carnal. Note Christ only manifests Himself to Israel when He appoints a king, (David) other rulers & priests to serve during the Millennium. It is not like they see Jesus walking around for He will have returned to His throne above ruling over the Body of Christ, angels & the universe.

  6. Once Again It Seems, History Will Repeat Itself And he said, “Listen, all Judah and inhabitants of Jerusalem and King Jehoshaphat: Thus says the LORD to you, ‘Do not be afraid and do not be dismayed at this great horde, for the battle is not yours but God’s. 2 Chronicles 20:15 (ESV) For My God Is Greater And to make all men see what is the fellowship of the mystery, which from the beginning of the world hath been hid in God, who created all things by Jesus Christ: Ephesians 3:9 Than Yours It was also about these that Enoch, the seventh from Adam, prophesied, saying, “Behold, the Lord comes with ten thousands of his holy ones, to execute judgment on all and to convict all the ungodly of all their deeds of ungodliness that they have committed in such an ungodly way, and of all the harsh things that ungodly sinners have spoken against him.” These are grumblers, malcontents, following their own sinful desires; they are loud-mouthed boasters, showing favoritism to gain advantage. Jude 1:14-16

  7. Note too that Job's friends tried to do the right thing, but were misguided. First they just silently sat with him, keeping him company, which is of immeasurable value to one suffering.

  8. One other point that is brought out in Job is the value of compassion and listening. It's easy to say to a faceless screen that "God is sovereign" (which is absolutely true!), but it is of no comfort to the person enduring distress. Job's three friends, even if their shallow reap-what-you-sow message were completely valid, delivered their message in a way that completely ignored Job's situation and his pleas. Their theology was correct (we do reap what we sow), but incomplete (God is merciful). That in itself is a convicting insight- that we can be correct but if lacking as complete a picture as we should, God is displeased with us. Study to show yourselves approved, indeed.

  9. Why you obey is not important, just obey. Nonsense! You cannot Love that which you fear. Fear? You believe I obey God because he is fearful? Well Jesus did tell us to be scared of the one who can destroy both body and soul. But that is not why I obey God. No, I glorify Jesus because he is God. I have always wanted to be able to live a righteous life, and only God can make that possible. It was not until Jesus came to me personally, and gave me his Holy Spirit was my desire to live righteously able to come true. Jesus is my personal friend, he is my doctor, my teacher, my protector, and much more of a friend than anyone else ever could. I don’t obey God out of fear. No I obey God because my whole being wants to always please him, and in doing so I am so alive. My prayer every day is that God’s will, will be my will forever, and ever. John said where there is fear there is no love. One who is fearful of God could never be righteous. And by that you just contradicted your first statement. Please be a bit more specific in your answers OK brother? And yes one can be fearful of God depending on the scriptural interpretation of fearing God. But raw naked fear. No!

  10. The foundations of context must be remembered (all men are sinners and none righteous)… so it is also with Job. You may say then why does God say this: Job 1:8 8 And the Lord said unto Satan, Hast thou considered my servant Job, that there is none like him in the earth, a perfect and an upright man, one that feareth God, and escheweth evil? KJV Romans 3:23 23 For all have sinned, and come short of the glory of God; KJV Romans 5:12 12 Wherefore, as by one man sin entered into the world, and death by sin; and so death passed upon all men, for that all have sinned: KJV It is understood in the line of scarificers from God first exampling in the covering of nakedness down thru the Godly linage of ->to Job Job 1:5 5 And it was so, when the days of their feasting were gone about, that Job sent and sanctified them, and rose up early in the morning, and offered burnt offerings according to the number of them all: for Job said, It may be that my sons have sinned, and cursed God in their hearts. Thus did Job continually. KJV So we find God is justified by The Sacrifice of Himself by the giving of The Son Who sacrificed Himself by death on the cross to forgive sin and remember no more …the only form of righteous man can have that of The Son's Life given for us as a life of our own… God is using cross reality not yet come but as though it had >for it had< though not yet come! When we in Adam sinned we gave control of this world that God had given us to satan -> so satan using what was his brought accusation against Job. For satan cannot understand the power of the Christ of God ->(being this) we are made able to give up all that we have come into, that which is now belonging to satan, to receive that only formed by God's Word of promise that satan can never enter… this is the main thrust of understanding for us to glean today from Job and how Job repented for God brought Job into the understanding that the only Holy, Pure, Undefiled, Righteousness was in God alone and all else is in need of His Grace of Covering that our righteousness will be that of His Righteousness! Satan has the right, so shown us by God, to bring against us what we have given satan to be over us >this world and our bodies< but in the confines of what The Lord allows him to use… do not forget the temptations of satan to The Son where The Father allowed satan to use all the world and even Jesus' physical life as means to turn The Holy Son of God but could not… It was by every Word that God has said whereby Life becomes eternal... Because we stand in our own strength as habit from 1st birth instead of Spiritual reliance of 2nd birth written thus: Gal 5:16-17 16 This I say then, Walk in the Spirit, and ye shall not fulfil the lust of the flesh. 17 For the flesh lusteth against the Spirit, and the Spirit against the flesh: and these are contrary the one to the other: so that ye cannot do the things that ye would. KJV Gal 5:25 25 If we live in the Spirit, let us also walk in the Spirit. KJV God did… His presence of Love for Job opened Job's heart to the eternal truth that the world or the things in the world were not worthy to be weighed out in the considerations of the eternal things of God… Love, Steven

  11. Good question Taker.(I'm going to use the boldface character- hope you don't mind.) I know that Noah's Flood happened simply because the Word of Almighty God, the Bible, tells us. Science is actually dead, as I explain below. Some scientists would like us to think that until they discovered their ( ever-changing) theories of physics, no father and son/daughter could play catch with a ball: since playing catch involves gravity(general relativity), Newtonian mechanics and Q.E.D.( quantum physics) AND now " dark energy." Wow, before Isaac Newton discovered gravity, our ancestors were not smart enough to play catch with a ball! All those home movies of the 1950s to 1971, showing families playing catch, were done by special effects, until 1971, when the Standard Model of physics was more or less completed. Really? People give too much credit to science - which is completely dependent on the opinion of fallible scientists, who all have limited intelligence, writing their impossible to prove ideas in peer-reviewed-change-their-opinion-with -the-next-theory journals. (By the way gravity and dark energy - and a lot of other physical phenomena- still do not make any sense to the Standard Model of Physics or string theory physics. (Furthermore String Theory physics began by using the mathematics of Leonhard Euler. Euler believed in Jesus as Savior and God. Euler also believed in the inerrancy of the Bible.) Techniques or technology are not truly based in human-invented science. Technology simply is discovered when humans (using Jesus' creations, the brain and intelligence) play, or tinker around with the things that have already been created by the Almighty. Science can never understand completely or even remotely, what happens in a game of catch with a ball! I'll give the reason a bit later. Having said that, there is an interesting effect Jesus created called water cavitation. I was partly convinced( but this is just a theory, remember the Bible is the only perfect proof) that Noah's flood occurred because Noah's flood is the best explanation of Earth's surface features such as the deep Grand Canyon. Noah's Flood water was moving extremely quickly at certain times and areas during the Flood and caused an effect- called water cavitation. When normal water travels very fast it will produce special tiny bubbles because of water cavitation. The temperature of these water cavitation "special tiny bubbles" can reach 15 000 degrees Celsius or 27 000 degrees Fahrenheit - hotter than the surface of our Sun .Water that is moving 90 feet per second(about 40 miles per hour) destroys solid steel and hard stone.{ref . source:[this paragraph only] David Catchpool, Creation.com} The Grand Canyon was created water cavitation in about 3 to 6 days, not through water erosion. Water cavitation is ten trillion times [ 10 000 000 000 000] times as powerful as the very slow water erosion. And Taker, the greatest mathematician of recent times, Kurt Gödel, discovered the Incompleteness Theorem, which proves science can never understand the universe .Science is dead. The Incompleteness Theorem is the most important discovery in mathematics ever. Kurt Gödel was a true baptized Lutheran Christian. He read the Bible at least every Sunday. And anyways, Jesus Christ is infinitely smarter than any scientist ,because he is Almighty God. Do not be even slightly impressed by dead science. Sincerely, Rony .

  14. Are you seriously calling the Westboro Baptist Church a Christian organization????? REALLY?????? unfortunatly for us it's probably registered that way. General at here addressing everyone.... Tired of my only knowledge of Muslims to be third hand media hype and media reports of extremist fundamentalists firming my views of Muslims I once joined a muslim forum like this one. I know myself now first hand they were really nice and welcomed me nicely as a Christian. They were as dismayed about what gets done in the name of Islam too just like we couldn't distance ourselves enough from Westbro baptist. Actually they were against the idea of a sharia state here in Australia and had a very low opinion of Bin Ladin. I'll go back and have a chat one day too again.
