Jeff, say something totally uplifting! Absolutely, totally, without doubt, show your hope, love, joy, encouragement, I'll take a photo and save it forever! I know you can do it!

2 Timothy 1:7 for God gave us a spirit not of fear but of power and love and self-control. Tells me God gives us the ability to control ourselves, to not be afraid of this world, and our love should be evident.

I agree, there seems to be less encouraging threads, maybe just my perception, but its been bothering me. The "Let's do this already" is very encouraging. To lay down all my criticisms (or try at least!) and find ways to be more encouraging. Thank you for this thread, hopefully you can keep it going for awhile, I enjoy these.

Stock market reminds me of ponzi or pyramid schemes. It is relying on new money invested all the time.

Wouldn't a boycott involve not buying any more products, products already paid for would still be used. I guess it depends -
Creation and an Old Earth - One Possibility

So I am asking, did time always exist, before these billions being referred to? Why not say trillions and so on? Or did time start with creation? -
Even now, countries around the world are seeking to eliminate all cash transactions.

As the debt increases exponentially all over the globe, sooner or later it will reach a point of no return(I think it already has) and all the superficial wealth will be confiscated or simply vanish. Keep charging all your credit cards and promise to pay but never actually make a payment and see what happens!

Different denominations working together for community service...

It is easy to argue the letter of the law and yet completely miss the intent of the law. -

The word in Hebrew translated into replenish, actually only means to fill. If death came through Adam, then there could not have been a refilling of the earth with Adam as there was no death before Adam. Also, any life before Adam would have been in complete darkness. -
Different denominations working together for community service...
hmbld replied to Hawkeye's topic in General Discussion
Every church I've been to tries to find ways to be active in their community, usually with limited turnout with mostly a core group who volunteer. I've heard lots of promoting for other churches to join in. Well, the other churches already have a schedule of activities, so the number who show up is very low. Oddly, I have not heard encouragement to go help other churches, everyone wants others to come. Maybe find out what other churches have a need for, and volunteer to jump in! -
We have all been sojourners in Egypt. I believe those verses apply to all of us, and all who travel or live among us. Taking in strangers to our homes, I do not believe applies to those at war with you or are making an invasion. The numbers we are talking about is in fact an invasion, with documented proof that it is planned and an act of war.

Eph 2:8-9 For by grace you have been saved through faith. And this is not your own doing; it is the gift of God, not a result of works, so that no one may boast Romans 10:9 because, if you confess with your mouth that Jesus is Lord and believe in your heart that God raised him from the dead, you will be saved. Romans 11:6 But if it is by grace, it is no longer on the basis of works, otherwise grace is no longer grace.

Well, we can know we are forgiven by what scripture says, not whether we cry or not. By faith, but I see what you are saying, repentance is key . . .

nice! Col 3:23-24 Whatever you do, work at it with all your heart, as working for the Lord, not for human masters, since you know that you will receive an inheritance from the Lord as a reward. It is the Lord Christ you are serving. 2 Cor 4:18 So we fix our eyes not on what is seen, but on what is unseen, since what is seen is temporary, but what is unseen is eternal.

Creation and an Old Earth - One Possibility

lol, never heard of the gravitational side of God, but I get it. If God knows the beginning from the end, and was able to give Paul visions of what will happen yet even in our future, it seems God is already there, meaning He is at the beginning and the end, past and future, regardless of what gravity is. Existing outside of time, which means even time is something created by God. -
What if the continued asking is not to, as you say, satisfy Him. What if the continuation in prayer is to simply come to God, to seek to align ourselves with His will? You question reminds me of trying to understand how we are not to merely engage in a repetitive prayer, but yet we can still pray, possibly for the same thing, but earnestly, not just saying words, which may be the same words for days on ends, but really desiring that communication with God. I say, yes continue to pray, even knowing that God already knows what we need.

Interesting. yet could time have existed before creation, which would mean time exists without gravity? -

lol, I'm not saying I understand this correctly, I am more or less throwing it out there to see if someone will show scripture where I am wrong. As to what God was doing before that, I don't know why but I couldn't comprehend an eternity, year after year, never ending going into the past of God just sitting around. Until I believed God exists outside of time, and if true, that anything is so infinite as to exist outside of time, well, my understanding of that just melts down and I have to be content that I can't possibly understand God. So please, anyone wanting to correct me, please do. I just don't read anything stating where God created this formless earth, before the 6 days of creation. -

I start the timeline when God said, "in the beginning" which was the 6 days of creation. Before the beginning of time, God existed. Time started when He created. -

If God is eternal, and time is measured, wouldn't God exist outside of time? -

I don't know if anything happened before all thing were created that are created. The bible is silent about that. I conclude, possibly incorrectly, that all things created include time, so where God has always existed, there were no billions on billions of years before creation. -

Some sci-fi could be true, not all sci-fi is true, your theory is not supported by other scripture. -

Understood. I understand "in the beginning" means the beginning. Why God would create a formless, empty watery planet before the beginning is beyond me. -

Mark 10:6 also states what happened in the beginning. But from the beginning of the creation, God made them male and female. I still say its hard to have something materially existing before the beginning.
