  1. from got questions.org Does it really matter whether we accept a “literal” interpretation of the Creation? The answer is “yes!” The gap theorists with their concept of the Luciferian flood believe that there was death before Adam, but the Bible declares unequivocally the opposite to be true. Romans 5:12 states that “sin entered the world through one man, and death through sin,” so to accept the concept of death before the time of Adam is to destroy the foundational message of the cross: “For just as through the disobedience of the one man [Adam] the many were made sinners, so also through the obedience of the one man [Jesus Christ] the many will be made righteous” (Romans 5:19). To advocate the concept of death before Adam sinned is diametrically opposed to Scripture’s explanation that death came after Adam sinned and became the necessity for man’s redemption. Genesis records a catastrophe responsible for destroying everything that had the “breath of life” in them, except for those preserved in the ark. Christ refers to the global flood in Noah’s day in Matthew 24:37-39, and Peter writes that just as there was once a worldwide judgment of mankind by water, so there will be another worldwide judgment, this time by fire (2 Peter 3). The theory of Lucifer's flood is completely without scriptural evidence and must be rejected.
  2. How do you get a "before the beginning" when reading Genesis 1:1-2? It seems you have to add a whole lot to the story. God only gave us some information, but I don't think we can just add what we think could be.
  3. I am reading along and am not sure if you intended this example to show that God lied or instructed a righteous man to do wickedness, as asked in the post you responded to. I really struggled with understanding this example until I learned that not only was it to show that God will provide, but it is a great example of a "type", or "shadow of things to come".
  4. YEC is unsupported by scripture? In the beginning God created all that there is in 7 days, including man, then recorded each generation down to Jesus birth, and you claim it is unsupported by scripture? What is unsupported is all the stuff you have added into the 7 days, that is not supported by anything other than imagination! You make a case of what "could be", which has no biblical support. How could "in the beginning" not be the beginning?
  5. I find this a little odd, as Jesus "fate" was sealed before the creation of earth, was it not? And what do you make of all the testimonies of people that have died as a result of their testimony of Christ? That it is the persecution of Christians that sometimes brings others to a saving knowledge of Christ? "Keep watch" and "be on the alert", I wonder if it is encouragement for us to be continually praying, to stay focused on God and His purposes?
  6. You have a way with words! I agree with you.
  7. Since the bible was not assembled as we now see it when Revelation was written, I can agree that we can not prove the verse was intended to be applied to the rest of the bible. Yet, if scripture is inspired of God, then would it not be applicable? Even if it only refers to Revelation, what scripture, inspired by God, would be allowed to be changed? So in the end of this thought process, at least for me, it seems we can and should use that verse to show the importance of not changing God's word. It does not seem deceptive to me, rather, I would agree scripture should not be changed. Only if Revelation was from a man should we keep it confined to that one book. If it is inspired by God, then it applies to the complete bible.
  8. Another example of sidestepping what is being shown to you. You have demonstrated that you have very high intelligence, so when you deliberately sidestep and make others run in circles I can only conclude that you know you don't have scripture to stand on when defending rcc practices/traditions.
  9. God is not limited to His creation, even time, so yes God does know all of the future, not just by guessing. As for the bad characters, I believe by giving free choice, it is not God who chooses to send people to hell for eternity, for His will is for all to be saved. God is Holy, He can not deny Himself. What you say is nonsense, is not taking into account God's character, His Holiness.
  10. Ok, but by that logic then, Paul accepted "her testimony" for many days. If your point was correct wouldn't Paul have commanded the demon out the very first day?
  11. Interesting point. I am wondering, is it because she was drawing attention to the "bond-servants" and so taking attention away from the preaching about Jesus? Why did Paul allow the spirit to stay for many days, until he became annoyed?
  12. Agreed, how can God be limited by His own creation? God exists outside of time.
  13. Well I admit I have not followed much in politics, yet it seems our current president certainly has not been pro-Isreal, so we sure hope our next president is completely supportive of Isreal, yet how is this to be if all nations turn against Isreal?
  14. You know, sometimes when times get bad, that is when people look up! We can trust in God, no matter how things look to us, He is still in control!
  15. Even though I find this off topic, if there was no evidence St Patrick did anything other than pray to dead people or angels, then does that mean there is evidence that he did? I know little of st patrick, and whether he followed scripture or a false teaching is not important, what is important is what do we do? Follow scripture or a false teaching?
  16. Hey tiggs! The grass is always greener on the other side of the fence, lol. Trump, even with all his ego, seems the best option, yet I don't anticipate it will be better lol. Just different. Every time someone is elected, they seem to forget what platform they ran on. Too bad mega isn't running for Pres!
  17. Does it matter? Could anyone be "fully Catholic" and yet understand what pagan practices are? The example given was Thallasa and her family never prayed to saints or angels, and was shocked to read these "prayers".
  18. What does any of that prove regarding whether an individual prayed to angels or not? Or why should anyone care if he did pray to angels, the question is clearly answered in scripture. We pray directly to God alone. So one can choose, to obey scripture, or argue word meanings and choose to follow a false teaching.
  19. True, but when a man of supposed spiritual authority says muslims and christians are brothers and sisters, it is at best, misleading. It is essentially adding agreement to the many different ways to God. It is only helping satan spread the lie to any of the lost that they can do it "their way". You are free to argue how words can have several different meanings, however. All the arguing that the pope could have meant this or that, is lost on the lost.
  20. Lol over zealous mods? I have at times said things I regretted and thought I was wrong to post. Never been warned by a mod. I think worthy is great! I wonder about the attitude that refuses correction. I, for one, would like to see the insults stop, and even be deleted. I don't want to read them. So, if anything, I think I'm siding with threads and posts being deleted when not edifying, and if you find your post deleted, maybe a self check is in order. Was the post that disappeared edifying? If it was, maybe it was a glitch. We are all fre to come and go. I do appreciate everyone who posts, even if I disagree at times, would love to see you stay.
  21. 1 Timothy 2:3-4 This is good, and pleases God our Savior, who wants all people to be saved and to come to a knowledge of the truth.
  22. As I hear "muslim brotherhood" more and more often, I read from wikipedia: "and the goal of the Muslim Brotherhood in North America is identified as the following: During the Holy Land Foundation trial (which led to a conviction for sending funds to Hamas in 2008),[197] several documents surfaced incriminating the Brotherhood in subversive activities. One (dated 1991) outlined a strategy for the Muslim Brotherhood in the United States that involved “eliminating and destroying the Western civilization from within." Also, same page shows that Russia, Syria, Egypt, Saudi Arabia, and the United Arab Emirates have officially listed the Muslim Brotherhood a terrorist organization. "According to The Washington Post, U.S. Muslim Brotherhood supporters "make up the U.S. Islamic community's most organized force" by running hundreds of mosques and business ventures, promoting civic activities, and setting up American Islamic organizations to defend and promote Islam." Is there something wrong with this wikipedia page? There has to be, otherwise our own government is assisting in the demise of what we used to know as the U.S.
  23. No Christian is yet perfect, do you really mean a person can be misled, misunderstand a point, or just plain buy into one of satan's lies and if they do they are not a Christian? Surely even you could be wrong about one or two points in the bible and still be a Christian. Are we not instructed that love is better than to have all knowledge and be right all the time? You go beyond just defending God's word. I say this with respect Shiloh, I have learned much from you. I thank you for your time and effort here, lately I've begun wondering what it profits me to be right, surely I should desire to grow and help others grow and mature, much more than being right. I don't think I've even begun that road yet, but it crosses my mind more all the time.
  24. Right, the pray tell example is what I meant, thank you. We don't use it that way now as far as I know. I still see the prayer examples given as being the main point in the op.
  25. I can't think of a time that prayer is not worship, but that point is a diversion. The examples of prayers to saints above is the question. What scripture supports praying to dead people(which is made into another diversion). Where does it say dead people have some higher class of favor in Gods eyes than a Christian? I have never "prayed" to a person, though some may use the word in a definition different than how I understand it.
