Creation and an Old Earth - One Possibility
coheir replied to Riverwalker's topic in Science and Faith
27 So God created man in his own image, in the image of God created he him; male and female created he them. the part I underlined leads me to believe that God created HIM alone, the rest of the verse could easily have came later. I do not see both at the same time in this verse -
Hi Ezra, sorry I did not make my thoughts clear in my first post. I would like to try again and get your perspective. In OT times The Jews lived under the law but could only get to heaven by faith ( in the God they knew ) Heb 11:17 like Abraham had. Now as I said in my first post I do believe any and all living today must have faith and believe in Jesus John 14:7. am I misunderstanding the basics.
-
i do admit I need to study on this. so i guess my failure is I really have not studied romans to any great extent. and my thinking the law was left in place for a certain purpose which I see now is wrong thinking on my part. I do my best to study up sorry for my ignorance.

Im certainly not one to side with pope. but this does raise a question about my understanding of Scripture. I believe Jesus should be preached to all, period. that said my understanding was that Jesus knew the Jews would reject his teachings and stay under the law. maybe that is why the "no jot nor tittle : verse. so they would be able to be saved/judged under the law but it would be harder than accepting Jesus as Saviour. also I thought Israel would under the law return to their roots iin God so to speak.

THE SONS OF GOD AND THE DAUGHTERS OF MEN

Josh 13 12 All the kingdom of Og in Bashan, which reigned in Ashtaroth and in Edrei, who remained of the remnant of the giants: for these did Moses smite, and cast them out. Deu 3 11 For only Og king of Bashan remained of the remnant of giants; behold, his bedstead was a bedstead of iron; is it not in Rabbath of the children of Ammon? nine cubits was the length thereof, and four cubits the breadth of it, after the cubit of a man. 2 Sam 15 Moreover the Philistines had yet war again with Israel; and David went down, and his servants with him, and fought against the Philistines: and David waxed faint. 16 And Ishbibenob, which was of the sons of the giant, the weight of whose spear weighed three hundred shekels of brass in weight, he being girded with a new sword, thought to have slain David. 17 But Abishai the son of Zeruiah succoured him, and smote the Philistine, and killed him. Then the men of David sware unto him, saying, Thou shalt go no more out with us to battle, that thou quench not the light of Israel. 18 And it came to pass after this, that there was again a battle with the Philistines at Gob: then Sibbechai the Hushathite slew Saph, which was of the sons of the giant. 19 And there was again a battle in Gob with the Philistines, where Elhanan the son of Jaareoregim, a Bethlehemite, slew the brother of Goliath the Gittite, the staff of whose spear was like a weaver's beam. 20 And there was yet a battle in Gath, where was a man of great stature, that had on every hand six fingers, and on every foot six toes, four and twenty in number; and he also was born to the giant. 21 And when he defied Israel, Jonathan the son of Shimea the brother of David slew him. 22 These four were born to the giant in Gath, and fell by the hand of David, and by the hand of his servants. 1 Chron 1 And it came to pass, that after the year was expired, at the time that kings go out to battle, Joab led forth the power of the army, and wasted the country of the children of Ammon, and came and besieged Rabbah. But David tarried at Jerusalem. And Joab smote Rabbah, and destroyed it. 2 And David took the crown of their king from off his head, and found it to weigh a talent of gold, and there were precious stones in it; and it was set upon David's head: and he brought also exceeding much spoil out of the city. 3 And he brought out the people that were in it, and cut them with saws, and with harrows of iron, and with axes. Even so dealt David with all the cities of the children of Ammon. And David and all the people returned to Jerusalem. 4 And it came to pass after this, that there arose war at Gezer with the Philistines; at which time Sibbechai the Hushathite slew Sippai, that was of the children of the giant: and they were subdued. 5 And there was war again with the Philistines; and Elhanan the son of Jair slew Lahmi the brother of Goliath the Gittite, whose spear staff was like a weaver's beam. 6 And yet again there was war at Gath, where was a man of great stature, whose fingers and toes were four and twenty, six on each hand, and six on each foot: and he also was the son of the giant. 7 But when he defied Israel, Jonathan the son of Shimea David's brother slew him. 8 These were born unto the giant in Gath; and they fell by the hand of David, and by the hand of his servants. -

How does one deal with an argumentative person?
coheir replied to *Zion*'s topic in Have a problem? Looking for advice?
but there may be a million things that I would argue with you about even though not these two. I find in todays world people accept as normal things I would argue are not acceptable. thats how it is. some things I just can not go along with but many will. -

I am saying I have what I believe in and its kinda hard to change what I think is right to your way of thinking, I can listen and reason if what one says is better than I already know i can change. An example is some Christians have gay friends I do not believe in that at all. Ive had people on this site literally change a question of mine into an imperative statement and say this is what I said well I did not say that I asked a question, so for some when one ask a question its the same as making a statement for me a question is a question and a statement is some thing different than a question. -

im argumentative and I been quiet just reading, but I can say we can be a handful at times. Many live life in a very wide gray area so they can adapt to most any thing proposed to them and I have a very thin line of gray that would live life in and tend to stand my ground that I wont let my self go out side my thin gray line. it a hard life being this way. -

well I some times do not stuff enough words into my post for people to understand what i am trying to convey. And other times I just do not have the vocabulary to explain my thoughts or feelings. -
THE SONS OF GOD AND THE DAUGHTERS OF MEN
coheir replied to SINNERSAVED's topic in General Discussion
I believe that the sons of God were Angels and they were punished by God in a manner so they could not leave earth except they go before him other than that they could not leave. Now I also believe that they were allowed to keep some powers. They could have taken human form to procreate. I did not get this belief just from the Bible and many would scoff at that idea. -
I too use Fire fox if I quote and post i can not back up, ex. if i am reading page 1 and quote and post and it gets posted on page 2 and it shows me my post I then can not back up to page 1 to finish reading page 1 I have to go to bottom left of page and go to topic listing is the only way to get back ofcourse topic listing does not carry me back to first page.

reading Enoch or Jubliees is no worse than what one is made to read in school or college; they ARE NOT the Bible and DO NOT replace the Bible; Ive read the Bible twice straight thru and many of the books in the Bible more than that; I still learned a couple things and got some insight how it was back then from reading these other books. If a book is mentioned in the Bible it would be better to read than what the liberal education forces one to read. just my opinion not asking anyone to agree with me.

Obama says gun control to be top issue of final year
coheir replied to WorthyNewsBot's topic in U.S. News
I believe we have enough people in the Congress to stop his gun laws. The only place he can go after he is though here is to the United Nations who also wants gun control. -
Matt 19 8 He saith unto them, Moses because of the hardness of your hearts suffered you to put away your wives: but from the beginning it was not so. 9 And I say unto you, Whosoever shall put away his wife, except it be for fornication, and shall marry another, committeth adultery: and whoso marrieth her which is put away doth commit adultery. 10 His disciples say unto him, If the case of the man be so with his wife, it is not good to marry. 11 But he said unto them, All men cannot receive this saying, save they to whom it is given.

No I don't smoke. And I"m sure there are a lot of Christians that do. However I worked in the medical field all my life and saw the results of this habit from having to live on oxygen to dying from lung cancer. Our bodies are a temple of the Holy Spirit we need to watch what we put in that temple and what kind of a testimony you are putting out there. You sound as if your replacing a cigarette for what the Lord could do for you if you trust Him and let Him do His work in your life. Ask yourself a question. Would you invite Jesus to join you for a cup of coffee with a cigarette in your hand our would you rather just sit with your Savior and tell Him how much you love Him and thank Him for all He has done for you? I feel sure anyone would not want to smoke in front of Jesus and most likely would not if given a chance. when they see him they will have already left the physical body which holds the addiction. and second Jesus knows who smokes on earth and where their heart is; if he were to present himself to a smoker he would not be surprised about it. What about people who are gluttons? That is just as much as a sin.Do you like to eat? What about gambling? What about those who break all of those "insignificant" laws such as going over the speed limit, going through a red light? You can not point your finger at just one sin.We are all sinners. If I did that I apologise did not mean to step on any toes. I appreciate your apology I just want people to look at the whole picture and themselves before they point fingers. thanks for the appreciation, ill step out so as not to repeat any other toe stomping.
