  1. Excellent post @JustPassingThru
  2. Man my heart literally dropped when I read your post as “Paul...Antichrist”. You are usually super solid in your posts. Phew! Glad that was cleared up.
  3. @unworthyservant I get it, but the words of Paul are just as sure and steadfast as if Christ spoke them himself. In fact, all the letters in the New Testament are the very words of God revealed through men. It is God behind every book making sure his Son gets the full glory. Like others have said, Paul acknowledged when it was his own determining on a matter, and even that was right council it just was not law or a command. Apostles had that kind of authority.
  4. Paul’s reference is the full revelation from the Lord himself. All the Apostles acknowledged that he had this revelation from God. That is very important to understand since he was the official Apostle to the Gentiles. His words are the very words of God. 2Pe 3:15 Bear in mind that our Lord's patience means salvation, just as our dear brother Paul also wrote you with the wisdom that God gave him. 1Th 2:13 And we also thank God continually because, when you received the word of God, which you heard from us, you accepted it not as a human word, but as it actually is, the word of God, which is indeed at work in you who believe. What Paul taught about the Gospel is the full revelation of the Gospel.
  5. @unworthyservant I love your posts and have made you one of my spiritual mentors(without your knowledge ) but what do you mean “Paul’s take”? Paul’s take is Christ’s take. He got his teaching on salvation directly from our Lord. The Epistles are actually the further revelation of what our Lord taught in the Gospels. Gal 1:11 I want you to know, brothers and sisters, that the gospel I preached is not of human origin. Gal 1:12 I did not receive it from any man, nor was I taught it; rather, I received it by revelation from Jesus Christ. Joh 16:12 "I have much more to say to you, more than you can now bear. Joh 16:13 But when he, the Spirit of truth, comes, he will guide you into all the truth. He will not speak on his own; he will speak only what he hears, and he will tell you what is yet to come. Joh 16:14 He will glorify me because it is from me that he will receive what he will make known to you.
  6. Amen @angels4u I believe prayer is the greatest weapon or resource we as Christians have. The ability and privilege to go before God at the throne of grace at a moments notice for help for ourselves and others.
  7. Praying for you and your family. This Christian journey can be unbelievably painful at times. Just keep in mind that God is faithful. Anything that is going on in our life will be used by him for your benefit. One day you will look back on these troubles and glorify God. He will never fail you, he will always do what is best for you. Be encouraged sister, and stand on his word regardless of circumstances. Rom 8:18 I consider that our present sufferings are not worth comparing with the glory that will be revealed in us. Heb 12:6 because the Lord disciplines the one he loves, and he chastens everyone he accepts as his son." Heb 12:7 Endure hardship as discipline; God is treating you as his children. For what children are not disciplined by their father?
  8. I think you actually can have it both ways. God knew what Adam would do long before he created him, yet he allowed him to make the decision that doomed us from our perspective. In his own perspective it gave him the opportunity to become a man, and elevate man to heights Adam never could. Christ now seated at the right hand of the Father, and all who trust in him seated right with him in the Heavenlys. God’s ultimate will, will always prevail, but man has one responsibility to God, and that is to believe on Jesus Christ. As the Holy Spirit opens the sinners understanding through the Gospel, he or she then has free will to receive the message or harden their heart towards the revealed truth. I think a good illustration of the two sides of one truth is found in Acts Act 13:46 Then Paul and Barnabas answered them boldly: "We had to speak the word of God to you first. Since you reject it and do not consider yourselves worthy of eternal life, we now turn to the Gentiles. Act 13:48 When the Gentiles heard this, they were glad and honored the word of the Lord; and all who were appointed for eternal life believed. You see some rejected the message of their own accord, but some believed as was ordained by God. The problem with Calvinism is they got the whole thing backwards. Romans chapters 9-11 is showing that God who originally chose Israel and hated Esau, has now blinded Israel for the sake of of the Gentiles. Only a small elected remnant of Israelites will believe during this time of the gentiles. Rom 9:13 Just as it is written: "Jacob I loved, but Esau I hated." Rom 9:25 As he says in Hosea: "I will call them 'my people' who are not my people; and I will call her 'my loved one' who is not my loved one," Rom 9:26 and, "In the very place where it was said to them, 'You are not my people,' there they will be called 'children of the living God.'" Rom 11:7 What then? What the people of Israel sought so earnestly they did not obtain. The elect among them did, but the others were hardened, Rom 11:8 as it is written: "God gave them a spirit of stupor, eyes that could not see and ears that could not hear, to this very day." Double Predestination among Gentiles is a false doctrine, but making Predestination God simply looking into the future to see who believes is just as bad in my opinion.
  9. Amen! Blood of our Lord more precious than gold!
  10. Like others have said, why wait? You have met the criteria to be baptized which is faith in Christ. Spiritually you have already been baptized and placed in the body of Christ. Now in obedience you should profess this outwardly in showing everyone that you identify with Christ in his death, burial, and resurrection.
  11. I believe if God allows one of his own to remain sick it is for their own good and growth. Paul was one of God’s most faithful Saints, but the Lord allowed him to be struck by satan. It kept him humble. In times of afflictions and sickness we tend to seek God’s face more. I suffered with severe Psoriasis for nearly 20 yrs. I prayed for healing everyday over that time period. Praise his Holy name he finally healed me last year. I learned so much through that process. Looking back, even though it was a nightmare, it has strengthened me in my faith. We can trust God to do right by us in all things and every situation. His discipline is good for us. There are some devout saints who are sick right now, and it is by the will of God. Psa 119:71 It is good for me that I have been afflicted; that I might learn thy statutes.
  12. Lol yep, soap can kill them. They love any Side of the house that the sunshine’s aimed at. They can bite a little too.
  13. Are barn cats like alley cats or strays? Lol. They do have pesticides that are all plant based and safe for animals, like Essentria. It’ll have your whole house smelling like mint, but it kills everything from roaches to bed bugs.
  14. Amazon has everything. Advion evolution is a good brand. Lol roaches are really nasty. They can infest every part of your home if unchecked. I had a job when I worked for Orkin, where there had to be over a million roaches in this persons home. We had to tell her we can cut the problem down but we can’t get rid of all of them. For spiders we used dust. Delta dust is great.
  15. Great post brother. I’m kind of conflicted on my giving to the poor in my area. We have a huge homeless population where I’m at. I try and make sure I have cash to share, but most of them are on drugs or begging for money all day. I overheard one guy saying he was $30 away from getting an 8 ball(cocain). I stopped giving him anything. I just don’t know if I’m honoring God by giving to these same people everyday. Many of them look much stronger and healthier than me. I have not come across a hungry child. I would gladly give to feed a child in that situation. Where are you finding them?
  16. As a former pest control tech I can tell you roaches must be controlled starting from your kitchen. Get a good gel bait for your cabinets. Put just a bead in between all your cabinet doors. In the back of your kitchen drawers. The warm motor behind your fridge. The back of your stove , under the sink in the dark corners and the under area immediately upon looking under the sink, and any other dark flat space. Get you some gentrol point source. Place those near the areas you placed your gel as it sterilizes the female roaches so they can no longer produce more roaches. It also makes them hungry so they will chow down on your bait. Start with this treatment before going to sprays. If this doesn’t get them under control you may need a full clean out.
  17. Even though @Evgen may be saying the witnesses are kind in their approach (although nothing kind at all in leading people to hell), he himself has a more bold and less than kind approach. I mean if we are speaking the truth in love. I think he is more talking about their zeal in witnessing.
  18. Yeah, JWs are strict in their denial of the bodily resurrection of Christ, they believe he is an Angel, and they belittle his deity and calls him “a god”. Their good works of knocking on doors is nothing more than promoting another Christ. Our Lord put it like this Mat 23:15 "Woe to you, teachers of the law and Pharisees, you hypocrites! You travel over land and sea to win a single convert, and when you have succeeded, you make them twice as much a child of hell as you are. Nothing at all honorable about the watchtower.
  19. The J is silent in Hebrew so he doesn’t want to say Jehovah witnesses.
  20. Oh man I never knew that about Billy Sunday. I knew he preached hard against alcohol but didn’t know he leaned anywhere near the prosperity gospel. It breaks your heart to see some of these wolves prey on congregations.
  21. Music is so subjective. I think we all know we should avoid songs with raunchy themes, and full of cursing. I like old Gospel hymns and I do listen to some secular music that has truthful messages. I listened to “Family Reunion” by the Ojays the other day. Such an amazing song and then his dialogue about the family structure at the end was great. I don’t like Christian hip hop but I know many Christians do.
  22. ? wow. Reminds me of the KFC chicken sandwich that used two chicken patties instead of bread. It’s one of the craziest sandwiches I have ever seen.
  23. I heard good things about them. In my area I guess Five Guys is the best. I myself get my Burgers from Bob and Edith’s diner. It’s a local diner in Virginia that serves great food. IHOP is really good too. Their burgers are great.
  24. Yeah if you get to see the process it can be brutal. I saw my mom do in a chicken. Killing it, de-feather it, and cook it. ? I couldn’t eat it. God allows it though, so it’s definitely not wrong or cruel. At one point he allowed animals to be substitutionary sacrifices for his people. I’m definitely against animal cruelty, but animals being processed for our food is a blessing from our Father.
  25. Pickles and mustard? ? That seems like sour taste overload.
