Romans 12:6 Having then gifts differing according to the grace that is given to us, let us use them: if prophecy, let us prophesy in proportion to our faith Do we grow in faith? We prophesy in proportion to our faith. Sometimes we can step out and take a risk, but not have enough faith to complete the task for example Peter stepping on the water, or the demon the disciples couldn't cast out because of their measure of faith in Mark 9. Same when we prophesy. i totally agree

oh, i see the mistake. thanks. the 3000 were saved because of the gospel preached to them upon hearing their own different tongues being spoken by the 12 apostles miraculously by the holy spirit. my point is the Holy Spirit moves in power however, whenever He wants:)

Matthew 5:17 [ Christ Fulfills the Law ] “Do not think that I came to destroy the Law or the Prophets. I did not come to destroy but to fulfill. Matthew 10:7-9 7 And as you go, preach, saying, ‘The kingdom of heaven is at hand.’ 8 Heal the sick, cleanse the lepers, raise the dead,[a] cast out demons. Freely you have received, freely give. 9 Provide neither gold nor silver nor copper in your money belts, John 9 1As He passed along, He noticed a man blind from his birth. 2 His disciples asked Him, Rabbi, who sinned, this man or his parents, that he should be born blind? 3 Jesus answered, It was not that this man or his parents sinned, but he was born blind in order that the workings of God should be manifested (displayed and illustrated) in him. 4 We must work the works of Him Who sent Me and be busy with His business while it is daylight; night is coming on, when no man can work. 5 As long as I am in the world, I am the world’s Light. 6 When He had said this, He spat on the ground and made clay (mud) with His saliva, and He spread it [as ointment] on the man’s eyes. 7 And He said to him, Go, wash in the Pool of Siloam—which means Sent. So he went and washed, and came back seeing John 2 1 On the third day there was a wedding at Cana of Galilee, and the mother of Jesus was there. 2 Jesus also was invited with His disciples to the wedding. 3 And when the wine was all gone, the mother of Jesus said to Him, They have no more wine! 4 Jesus said to her, [[a]Dear] woman, what is that to you and to Me? [What do we have in common? Leave it to Me.] My time (hour to act) has not yet come. 5 His mother said to the servants, Whatever He says to you, do it. 6 Now there were six waterpots of stone standing there, as the Jewish custom of purification (ceremonial washing) demanded, holding twenty to thirty gallons apiece. 7 Jesus said to them, Fill the waterpots with water. So they filled them up to the brim. 8 Then He said to them, Draw some out now and take it to the manager of the feast [to the one presiding, the superintendent of the banquet]. So they took him some. 9 And when the manager tasted the water just now turned into wine, not knowing where it came from—though the servants who had drawn the water knew—he called the bridegroom 10 And said to him, Everyone else serves his best wine first, and when people have drunk freely, then he serves that which is not so good; but you have kept back the good wine until now! Jesus sets the example here of doing things that are definitely out there, in the new testament, and He gives us, His disciples, the authority to do the same things. The blind man let Jesus put His saliva-mixed-mud on his eyes and obeyed by washing in the pool of Siloam; the servants obeyed by filling jars of water so He could turn them into wine. If He gives me something i think is crazy to do, i better do regardless of what my logic is telling me. what about the 3000 people that Peter evangelised to, who spoke in tongues en mass - should they have not, simply because it wasn't expect at that time? The Holy Spirit works whenever, however He wants, regardless of covenant, old age, new age, outdated, modern, whatever time or place. that's all i'm saying.

Here's some basic guidelines for judging words spoken. These are written in Basic training for Prophetic Ministry, by Kris Vallotton. In the new testiment we percieve what the Spirit is saying instead of recieving the direct words of God as in the old testiment. So a prophetic word is our expression of the impression we get from the Spirit. As our intimacy and sensitivity grows with the Holy Spirit, the clearer the impressions will be and the better we can communicate it. A prophetic word is not the direct word of God, nor is it scripture so when someone says "Thus Sayith the Lord" it's probibly not the Lord. 1. The word can not contradict the Word as well as the Father heart of God 2. It has to bear witness to the person recieving it 3. The fruit of it must be the person brought closer to God and the body 4. If in a church, prophets and leadership has to agree with the word spoken. 5. The revelation belongs to the Lord, as well as the interpretation. I've been blessed to see alot of amazing fruit from prophetic ministry as well as the prophetic misused. It is important that we judge every word said, weed out the garbage and hold fast to the good. With nonbelievers on the streets my wife and I operate more with words of knowledge and many times that will shift into prophecy. The Lord will reveal and expose a non believers heart or their past and then we'll see what the Lord wants to do in their lives in the future. and that will open the person up to recieving the gospel. It's hard to judge a word on the street but it usually always bears witness with the person recieving it. A nonbeliever doesn't have the Spirit to discern anything from the Lord, so if your ministering in a team, keep eachother accountable. I also have a homegroup where we often lay hands on each other and see what the Lord is saying. I've seen people healed, delivered, encouraged, strengthened, and bearing lasting fruit. I have also seen people come in and give off words and throw the whole group off. This really showed me a deep need for accountability and judging words recieved. there are quite a few examples in the bible that the message doesn't always bring people closer to God, such as saul and ahab, and the king jeremiah prophesied to. also, our interpretation is always flawed, that's why we need total submission to the Holy Spirit and divine discernment. who today would walk around naked like elijah or raise a rod against a body of water like moses? who would believe God told someone to do it? and yet we need to believe and submit in these days just as much as those old generations needed to. God can and does use any way He wants to speak His Word. the question is, are we listening, discerning and obeying? i'm in no way critizing your evangelism on the street and hat God is doing through you - that is awesome! keep being used of Him. bless you!

did someone try to give you 'words' on this forum that you were uncomfortable with, perhaps? just trying to think what else you could have meant; after all, it seemed an innocent enough question. i'm sure everyone here is just trying to help, not to condemn or judge. please respond and clarify, we're just trying to understand the basis of your question in regards to the abbreviation thing, i think the main reason against it is that not everyone will understand as there a varying forms and versions of abbreviated words out there. nothing to feel bad about, just something to think about.

hi, sorry it's taken so long to reply: we (she & me) are both praying, and I believe God is working it out, but she's still working on how to motivate/move him. she's been trying for so long she just feels like giving up. i think maybe she actually needs to do that; take a step back and trust God to work on him. by the way, i don't think it's fair to stereotype men and women: different people have different relationships. but i do appreciate you both trying to help. will keep you posted - hopefully with a testimony. she really needs one! they both do. bless you.

ok, so i have this friend whose husband is driving her up the wall. he is so stubborn in everything and never considers her in decision or considers her feelings. he is a very detatched, emotionless person, i have seen this for myself; and doesn't respond to her, period. needlesss to say, she feels totally alone in their relationship. not a good example for their two very young children. they've been married for three years. the guy says he's a christian, but as far as i can tell he's just outward for show to others. my friend is at the end of herself, she feels like she can't even pray about him anymore, or even love him. she says: how can you love someone who will never ever love you back? any thoughts/advice as well as prayer is appreciated. i really know what to say to her anymore, but my heart so goes out to her.

I was wondering where the term 'hebrew' originated from, and my questions led me to this web page: http://www.abarim-pu...ml#.UO7BlXf4D6U This is literally lifted off the page: Hebrew Hebrew is a title or nickname rather than a personal name. It was initially given to Abram (Genesis 14:13) but later came to denote the Israelites (1 Samuel 4:6). The word Hebrew comes from the verb (abar) meaning to pass over, through, take away. The first application of this word is in the name Eber. The second application is in the first occurrence of the word , Hebrew in Genesis 14:13, where Abram is called Hebrew. The first case of narrative use of this verb is in the enigmatic cadaver vision of Genesis 15:17, "...there appeared a smoking furnace and a flaming torch that passed between these parts." Other derivations of the verb : The noun (eber) is a very common word that means beyond or across, and is used for all kinds of directions and locations usually in contrast to some other location (1 Samuel 26:13, Nehemiah 2:1); The verb (ebra) uses the root figuratively and means an overflowing of temper: wrath and rage. Sometimes this ebra stems in man (Amos 1:11 - he maintained his fury forever) and sometimes in God (Ps 78:49 - He sent on them the heat of his anger, fury and indignation and trouble); The verb (abar) means to be arrogant or infuriate oneself (Proverbs 14:16, 20:2). (abur) means produce. It is used in Joshua 5:11-12 where the Israelites abandon their diet of manna and begin to eat the yield of Canaan. Identical to the previous word is the preposition (abur), meaning because of, for. This word is always preceded by the particle (be), meaning in or by. HAW Theological Wordbook of the Old Testament explains the relationship with the root as a movement 'from purpose (or cause) to accomplishment (or result).' (ma'abar) passage, such as the passage through the river Jabbok (Genesis 32:23) or the passing of a striking staff (Isaiah 30:32). Similar is the feminine (ma'bara), passage, wady. Hebrew means Passed Over or Transitation or One Who Transits And so, what does this tell us about the Hebrew? Is he one on a constant journey? ever changing from glory to glory as he beholds the face of the Unchanging One? Will there always be something for him to pass over, like an obstacle or difficulty, which is why faith is required of him? Will there always be a passage, road, way before him? The WAY, the TRUTH, the LIFE? Which one is he? Or is he all those things? Or more? What do you think??? Please reply with your thoughts

Psalm 118:17 I shall not die, but live, And declare the works of the Lord. more than even reason, purpose and plan for me! Jeremiah 29:11 For I know the thoughts that I think toward you, says the Lord, thoughts of peace and not of evil, to give you a future and a hope. your friend sounds depressed. maybe she needs to hear these scriptures, and the gospel if she's not christian?

Guns aren't even the issue, all this uproar just furthers the goals of the latest little dirty game the politicians are playing now. you're right, Matthitjah, this is how we win the battle - not by power or might or even cleverly phrased words: 2 Corinthians 10:3-5: 3 For though we walk in the flesh, we do not war according to the flesh. 4 For the weapons of our warfare are not carnal but mighty in God for pulling down strongholds, 5 casting down arguments and every high thing that exalts itself against the knowledge of God, bringing every thought into captivity to the obedience of Christ, we have to stand in the gap and intercede on behalf of... well, everybody else, just like Isaiah and Nehemiah did: Isaiah 6v5: “Woe is me, for I am undone! Because I am a man of unclean lips, And I dwell in the midst of a people of unclean lips; For my eyes have seen the King, The Lord of hosts.” 6 Then one of the seraphim flew to me, having in his hand a live coal which he had taken with the tongs from the altar. 7 And he touched my mouth with it, and said: “Behold, this has touched your lips; Your iniquity is taken away, And your sin purged.” 8 Also I heard the voice of the Lord, saying: “Whom shall I send, And who will go for Us?” Then I said, “Here am I! Send me.” Nehemiah 1v5: 5 And I said: “I pray, Lord God of heaven, O great and awesome God, You who keep Your covenant and mercy with those who love You[b] and observe Your[c] commandments, 6 please let Your ear be attentive and Your eyes open, that You may hear the prayer of Your servant which I pray before You now, day and night, for the children of Israel Your servants, and confess the sins of the children of Israel which we have sinned against You. Both my father’s house and I have sinned. 7 We have acted very corruptly against You, and have not kept the commandments, the statutes, nor the ordinances which You commanded Your servant Moses. 8 Remember, I pray, the word that You commanded Your servant Moses, saying, ‘If you are unfaithful, I will scatter you among the nations;[d] 9 but if you return to Me, and keep My commandments and do them, though some of you were cast out to the farthest part of the heavens, yet I will gather them from there, and bring them to the place which I have chosen as a dwelling for My name.’[e] - both acknowledged their share of the sin before God, hence addressing God in the plural first, or fourth, person: we. All have sinned and fallen short of God's glory. the only way to change is to repent. think what it'll take for whole nations, for this whole world to repent. that's why the end must come. we need to go before the throne of God, to keep praying and interceding. thank You Lord Jesus for being our great high priest, and showing us how it's done.

hi thomas if everybody belonged to such close knit and caring churches, then surely much more people would belong to churches than actually do. i belong to a wonderful church, but i don't think i could share my problems there as openly as i would like to be able to. however, there are a few people i can confide in. also, i had a life changing conversation with a visitor after yesterday's service, resulting in me have a closer relationship with God than i have had in a long time. i thank God that my immediate family is born again, but even if my parents weren't born again, i believe God could use them to speak through to me if He so decided. and seeing as they are my parents, they do have a responsibility towards me, and i would expect them to take it seriously. if they didn't, that i would definitely have a problem with. at the end of the day, it's up to the individual to discern God's voice, Word and direction and respond in obedience. but that's where relationships come in. God uses us to help one another. He tells us in His Word to submit to those in authority over us, and to love and help our brother and neighbour. by the way, what did you mean by 'physical churches only?' have a good day too:)

all over the world govts are making crazy decisions to further personal agendas with little or inadequate explanation. i see all around me here in london, england. the days are getting darker as they draw to a close. let's shine brighter for Jesus.

I like it when people tell me that Yes, I know, ... Out of context,... Guilty, I guess. Technical question: why do we need such a computing power if the soul has, allegedely, the resources needed to represent our cognitive self? Just to send commands to our physical muscles? Seems a bit of an overshooting. Ciao - viole Not really, imagine having to wear an iPod with earphones all the time listening to a voice saying "breath in, breath out". You would have to hold your breath every time you needed a haircut. God knows what He is doing..... You would have to hold your breath every time you needed a haircut...

I'm sorry to hear that, gdemoss; i don't think i could guess what it would be like if my husband did that to me. well done for continuing to pray for her! i pray God gives you a special blessing form His storehouse. have you ever challenged her about her faith, or confronted her on why she has allowed herself to be deceived?

I'm guessing here...but he is probably referring to the principle in 1 Corinthians 7:12-16 But to the rest I, not the Lord, say: If any brother has a wife who does not believe, and she is willing to live with him, let him not divorce her. And a woman who has a husband who does not believe, if he is willing to live with her, let her not divorce him. For the unbelieving husband is sanctified by the wife, and the unbelieving wife is sanctified by the husband; otherwise your children would be unclean, but now they are holy. But if the unbeliever departs, let him depart; a brother or a sister is not under bondage in such cases. But God has called us to peace. For how do you know, O wife, whether you will save your husband? Or how do you know, O husband, whether you will save your wife? This speaks specifically to an unbeliever leaving a believer. As far as the matter of a (believing) husband or wife walking out on their (believing) spouse, that is to say abandonment...that is a matter of some debate. Debate yes. But don't forget the passage right before 1 Corinthians 7:12-16. Also keep in mind that 1 Cor. 7:12-16 Paul is clearly saying this as advice from Paul the Christian... Or what do you think? 1 Cor. 7:10-11 10 Now to the married I command, yet not I but the Lord: A wife is not to depart from her husband. 11 But even if she does depart, let her remain unmarried or be reconciled to her husband. And a husband is not to divorce his wife. Agreed...and I certainly wasn't skirting the issue... So many times though, abandonment by one or the other results in or is the product of an adulterous relationship, thus my comment about subject to debate. If we accept that Paul is indeed speaking by the leading of the Holy Spirit, then even though he doesn't say "thus saith the Lord" I think that we must accept that this is more than merely one man's opinion. That is to say, that Paul in giving this advice (But to the rest I, not the Lord, say:) is in line with the Holy Spirit...otherwise we have a serious conundrum with the writings of Paul! Thanks McGuyver, you nailed it for me the first time around. I think the thing with two believing spouses is that God expects them to take marriage as seriously as He takes it, and so to have love and commitment enough for each other in the first place to be able to enter into it of their own desire and freewill. Otherwise, why do it? Therefore there would be no reason to divorce or desert or abandon. Seems fair and simple enough to me. It's all in the three-strand cord of God, husband and wife. With Christ, all things are possible

Start at the Heart
*Zion* replied to GlidingWings's topic in The Substance of Man: Body, Spirit, Soul
Where your Heart is where your treasure will be. The heart wants what the heart wants, right? So much so, it'll lead us to what it wants more than it would what it needs: Jeremiah 17:9 The heart is more deceitful than anything else and mortally sick. Who can fathom it? Why is it sick? Because the human heart is full of sin, and the wage of sin is death: Genesis 6:5 ADONAI saw that the people on earth were very wicked, that all the imaginings of their hearts were always of evil only. So how on earth could God ask this of Abram? Genesis 17:1 When Avram was 99 years old ADONAI appeared to Avram and said to him, “I am El Shaddai [God Almighty]. Walk in my presence and be pure-hearted." And why would He request this to happen? Isaiah 6:10 “Make the heart of this people [sluggish with] fat, stop up their ears, and shut their eyes. Otherwise, seeing with their eyes, and hearing with their ears, then understanding with their hearts, they might repent and be healed!” Seems to make the matter worse, doesn't it? So, what will make it all better? Psalm 34:19 ADONAI is near those with broken hearts; he saves those whose spirit is crushed. A broken heart? A crushed spirit? We are so rotten to the core that God literally needs us shattered in order to fix us? Yes. We need to start again: Psalm 51:12 Create in me a clean heart, God; renew in me a resolute spirit. Then we can figure out what it is we need and what, or rather who our treasure is: Luke 10:27 He answered, “You are to love ADONAI your God with all your heart, with all your soul, with all your strength and with all your understanding; and your neighbor as yourself.” It starts with a seed that takes deep root: Luke 8:15 But what fell in rich soil — these are the ones who, when they hear the message, hold onto it with a good, receptive heart; and by persevering, they bring forth a harvest. And the fruition and reward and treasure is God's own heart! Don't be a Saul... 1 Samuel 13:14 But as it is, your kingship will not be established. ADONAI has sought for himself a man after his own heart, and ADONAI has appointed him to be prince over his people, because you did not observe what ADONAI ordered you to do.” Be a David! God said that those who love Him keep His commandments. We should obey Him not only because He's God and He said so (should be good enough, right?) but above all because we love Him. He's not going to twist our arms, we have to desire a right relationship with him. And that, my friends, is the heart of the matter. Ask yourself, what does YOUR heart beat for? -
ok, so please clarify. is the desertion thing biblically founded? i don't remember reading that anywhere at all.

Amazing! Thanks so much for this, such a blessing!

THe Lord has not forgotten His land, nor His people. He knows those who are his. Pray for the peace of Jerusalem. They shall prosper, them that love thee.
