Personal Finance from a Christian Perspective?
FreeinChrist replied to GoldenEagle's topic in Theology
Notice Tithing was never mentioned once... What do you think? It's true money does help a lot. Particularly when you have money to help those in need, suffering, and poor. Amen to that. God has never failed, not once, to prove that to me! Mal_3:10 Bring the full tithe into the storehouse, that there may be food in my house. And thereby put me to the test, says the LORD of hosts, if I will not open the windows of heaven for you and pour down for you a blessing until there is no more need. See, Tithing is never mentioned once in the OP. I think this passage and others are taken out of context. I don't believe God's blessings or lack there of depend on my actions. But I'd like to explore this further brother with you or anyone else if you'd like? God bless, GE So GE, are you saying that Luke 6:38, is not about money, but rather having a forgiving spirit to others? Not sure where I stand on the tithing, but what do you think of the passage in Hebrews 7? -
Are you wondering why the two Kings seem to be blessed in the same way? 2Ki 18:1 Now it came to pass in the third year of Hoshea (Josiah)son of Elah king of Israel, that Hezekiah the son of Ahaz king of Judah began to reign. No, I was wondering why the same phrases where use to describe both King Hezekiah and Josiah, but I think that Clear and Atwood have pretty much clear it up. These are two of my favorite Kings. Josiah is my favorite. I think it is just making a statement about them, and showing what great men of God they were. I just look at it as speaking of their uniqueness. There was none other like Hezekiah, and there was none other like Josiah. They both served God with their whole heart, but they were different people dealing with different situations. Josiah really came to power during a dark time in Judah. The nation had become wicked to the point of no return, yet Josiah was determined to serve the Lord, and to turn the nation back to God. They were both wonderful examples in how they governed. Neither was perfect, but overall, they were great leaders. It is a shame that can't be said of some of the other Kings. If they all had that same spirit, Judah would have continued forever. God delayed judgment on Judah for the sake of Josiah. That says a lot. Yea, Butero, next to Jesus, Josiah is by far my favorite King. Hezekiah was a great king, but I lost a little respect for him, after the 15 years were added to his life and Hezekiah shows all that he had to the ambassador/prince from Babylon and Isaiah pass judgment from God and all he seem to worry about was his reign not his offspring, II King 20:12-19.

So I really like the Textus Receptus manuscripts, and just yesterday got the Geneva Bible in modern English, as it was printed in 1599 plus waiting for a Webster Revision Bible Translation (it is a 1833 revision of the KJV Bible). But I have many Bible that are falling apart, and I don't want to destroy them, anybody know what I can do with them?

I have always been a little perplexed by some Bible Passages: About King Hezekiah and King Josiah in the Bible. II King 18:5 He trusted in Lord God of Israel so that after him was none like him among all the kings of Judah, neither were there before him. This passage speaks of King Hezekiah, and what a wonderful testament to receive from God, I think we all would love God to make such a statement about us. But later we read II King 23:25 Like unto him was there no king before him, that turned to the Lord with all his heart, and with all his soul, and with all his might according to all the Law of Moses, neither after him arose there any like him. This passage speak of King Josiah, and again what a wonderful statement for God to make about someone. But i am confused, how can both thee statement be true. I know there is something I missed, does anyone have any ideas?

God's Angels are sent to minister to us, Psalms 104:4; Hebrews 1:7. To be sure many Christian have meet Angels before without knowing it, Hebrews 13:2, this is because God's Angel seek to glorify God not themselves. Whereas Paul warns the believers over and over to beware of principalities; these would be angels who serve satan. For we wrestle not against flesh and blood, but against principalities, against powers, and against the worldly governors, the princes of the darkness of this world, against spiritual wickedness, which are in the high places. Ephesians 6:12 True Angels of God desire to look into our salvation, I Peter 1:13. Whereas the devil and his cohorts do everything to draw attention away from our Lord Jesus Christ, II Corinthians 10:4-5. So basically as everyone else put it, if you really want to honor God's Angel, than don't pay them any mind just keep your attention on Christ Jesus. For like us, God's Angels worship Jesus, Hebrews 1:6.

Thanks Hashe, it is always great to hear of someone, like Louren Cunningham, who is dictated to God, and believes in our all powerful God. I with him, and if I read right you, I believe that God is still performing miracles today.

All I know is you got my attention by mentioning Star Wars. I guess it is a set, because they had to doctor the "location" up some.

Thank you, LadyKay for asking this question, and a deep thank you to all who have answered you have lifted my spirit today.

I totally agree, some excellent points GE. But what would we make of Solomon remark? A feast is made for laughter, and wine maketh merry: but money answereth all things. Ecclesiastes 10:19 My finances are a way of God blessing me, by allowing me to bless other and He in return blessing me more. -
Amen Fez! Excellent thread.

Nearly, always. I know that God is Good, but I will never understand His process of letting His saints wait. Although sometimes I wonder if it is because we are way to busy hearing the noise of the world. So we cannot hear His still small voice; I King 19:11-18.

Hello Ted and welcome to Worthy.

I agree with Atwood. Especially when Ananias and Sapphira, who did not blaspheme against the Holy Spirit but surely lied to Him, so we see they lied to God, which cost them their lives, and IMO, where just one step short of committing the unpardonable sin, so no need to pray for them for God was taking them both home before they could cause themselves eternal damnation, see Acts 5:1-11.

Morning Shift problem!
FreeinChrist replied to FreeinChrist's topic in Have a problem? Looking for advice?
Thank you, all but overall I don't have as many problems as others do with him, I just get tired of seeing him seem to get away with bullying others. Yes I have had problems with him, but occasionally he will get on my bad side and I assure you I will yell back. We have a new person in produce who is doing a very good job, but just about every other morning he has made some nasty comments about him, and even tracked him down to yell at him, just get sick of it. The last morning while he was criticizing the new guy I told him rather loudly (but not yelling), find if you think you can do better you come and do his/our job better, quiet him down a little. Kwik, as always thanks for the powerful prayer. -
Morning Shift problem!
FreeinChrist replied to FreeinChrist's topic in Have a problem? Looking for advice?
Yea, I have token this problem to management a few times already. This person has had complains about how he treats other, by many others. beside myself. A while back someone quit and told the management it was because of him. The person who quit was trying to do his job, but this guy just jump all over him, for 2-4 hours, after which from what I understand he told management he quit. One manager told this guy he could have gotten in trouble for this, to which he went around gloating what for he was worthless, Many of us think that because he is retired military and he was a Sargeant Major in the Army so they won't touch him. Which really bewilders my mind, because you can't do the stuff he doing now in the military and get away with it. By the way Patriot, thanks for ideas of revenge, hopefully I don't actually use them. -
So I been trying to get out of Produce, for so long, and right now have no idea what Wal-mart considers me to be. About a week and a half ago had a customer ask me if I were Produce, I honestly told her I don't know, but I was probably the closes person to it, so I helped her. Will everybody on Overnights get treated like we do nothing by our 1st Shift. But in Produce we have a 6 o'clock person who comes in, and if it ain't perfect and I mean perfect he will be on the war path, They had the regular produce person their today (last night) who did the bananas, and than zone along with a couple of other jobs, and they wanted me to fill holes after I got done with the meat wall. So I had less than half a work shift to fill quit a bite, needless to say it wasn't done. So he wanta to know who did the bananas, and I told him the new guy, cause he did and they look fine. But he start having a fit about the boxes weren't token care of properly, and goes to chase down the other guy just to yell at him. I know people can be difficult, and I have work with some difficult people, but he takes the case. Thing is management know because of him we have had quit a few people quit, I would say at least 18 to 27 people in not quit 9 years. The guy will yell at management and next thing I know the produce job just got that must harder. He has even been know to yell per near all shift, and when I said yell I mean yell, he get to going and you can hear him clear across the store. It really make me laugh when I hear Wal-mart talk about Respect for the individual when he has gotten away with so much; I have even seen several full grown women break down in tears and cry, after he has yelled at them. Any advise would be appreciated.

Thank you, Willamina; you have truly bless me, by thanking our Great God. May God continue to richly bless you and your husband plus sons. May God's Holy Word continue to rejoice you: Thy testimonies have I taken as an heritage for ever: for they are the rejoicing of my heart. Psalms 119:111 Thank God, for His mercy to make it thru another work night as I was at about 80% strength, and by God's strength I manage to pull a big truck on my own, when you are still fighting the remains of a stomach flu, and a headache (from sinuses) that is a real challenge. And oh the weather up this way has so improved, we have had a long spell without the high being will below 0. GOD is so AWESOME!

Why are you, Thankful? In everything give thanks, for this is the will of God in Christ Jesus, concerning you. I Thessalonians 5:18 As God is my witness, I have not been as thankful, as I need to be lately. I could do my routine of the Children of Israel in the wilderness and find something to complain about, but I have ignore God many blessings for way to long. He has blessed me financially; and without going out of my house, God thru the internet has already bless me greatly, in the beginning of my job search (just need to get my resume made now). Plus my favorite TV program start airing it new season in the next 30 minutes on TLC. But more than anything I have been so blessed to be called the son of God, because of Jesus Christ the Only Begotten Son of God, redeeming me, and God making me His Holy Temple by the indwelling of the Holy Spirit. I will never understand how such a Holy God, could chose to indwell such a worthless person, as myself, but because of Him, i'm so worthy.

Has anyone, heard of the possibility of Bathsheba being the granddaughter of Ahithopel, I was reading this in one of my study Bibles? It makes mention that Bathsheba father was Eliam, II Samuel 11:3. than we see that Eliam father is Ahithopel the Gilonite. So if this is the case maybe Ahithopel held a grudge against King David for what he did to his granddaughter, so he help Absalom in his rebellion. I would have never notice this if it weren't for The Daily Walk Bible, I was reading.

Prair i cannot believe what u have said:D i too read how david said those things and because i saw that i prayed the very same thing. i often times would be talking to God praying and asking him things only to be shocked as i read psalms david said the exact same things. i never even read about them when i asked lol. i noticed david and i are very much alike not just because we said the same things but we both sought after his heart exhaustively we both always speak our hearts to him whether grieving or praise we both relied heavily on him for our needs and knew we could ask anything of him and when things got bad or when we really messed up he was always the first one we would run to. i call the book of psalms the book of encouragement and my heart has a special connection to that book. But now thy kingdom shall not continue: the LORD hath sought Him a man after His own heart, and the LORD hath commanded him to be captain over His people, because thou hast not kept that which the LORD commanded thee. I Samuel 13:14 Fireheart these words Samuel spoke unto king Saul concerning David taking over his kingdom where because David heart was so like God's, you have this same quality .

Finger of God is mention at least twice in Scriptures Luke 11:20, in which Jesus referred to the power by which He casted out demons. Hence we see God's Grace and the human race deliverance from the bondage of sin thru Jesus Christ. The magicians speak of it, when noting to Pharaoh that it was God power that Moses was operating in, Exodus 8:19; see also Psalms 8:3. Hence we see God's Grace in delivering the children of Israel out of Egypt. IMO, this is why Noah is the first one mention to find grace. Just as Moses preached to the Jews their deliverance from bondage in Egypt, so we as Christians have deliverance from sin's bondage by Christ Jesus. We also see that Noah made an attempt to preach unto the ungodly they just would not listen, II Peter 2:5. God was willing to grant grace unto many but just 8 souls heeded the message, But God is so powerful yet so meek that He will supply our need thru His Son Jesus Christ but will give us free choice of rather we want/need it or not.

Thanks Joe and Desi, really feeling like a walking accident, hopefully if that is the case the only person I hurt is myself; I can usually handle the physical pain, but the emotional pain will that is something else. But I believe her name was Tina, so please keep her in your prayers.

So I still haven't gotten fully out of Produce, and of course after waking up from a nightmare, that just happened to be reality, my night started out bad. Than get to work and of course I get to do a full 7 hours of work on the meatwall which won't get done, plus pull the truck on my own, right at lunch time (that will take me a few hours itself) which is what i'm on now, but trying to avoid a customer while driving the walkie stackie the piece of equipment we break double stacked pallets down with,, will the ws knock a medal piece down with plastic bags from our wet wall which hit her in her left ankle. Please pray for the lady left ankle. What can I do I have asked to get out of this department because I knew something like this would happen sooner or later. Tired of getting late lunches like today because I try to get stuff put up in time. Today it just sitting on the floor while i'm having my lunch.

I love II Corinthians 5:21, Williamina, it is one of my favorite verses. To be righteous in God's eye is to live by true faith. 16) For i am not ashamed of the gospel of Christ: for it is the power of God unto salvation to every one that believeth, to the Jew first, and also to the Greek. 17) For therein is the righteousness of God revealed from faith to faith; as it is written the just shall live by faith. Romans 1:16-17 see Habakkuk 2:4 For by our faith, Christ Jesus is made our righteousness, I Corinthians 1:30-31, in whom we may glory. But Paul speaks of the righteousness of the flesh--scribes/Pharisees: 4) Though I might also have confidence in the flesh, if any other man thinketh that he hath whereof he might trust in the flesh, I more: 5) Circumcised the eighth day of the stock of Israel, of the tribe of Benjamin, an Hebrew of the Hebrews; as touching the law a Pharisee: 6) Concerning zeal, persecuting the church; touching the righteousness which is in the law blameless. 7) But what things were gain to me, those I counted loss for Christ. 8) Yea doubtless, and I count all things but loss for the excellency of the knowledge of Christ Jesus my Lord: for whom I have suffered the loss of all things, and do count them but dung, that I may win Christ. Philippians 3:4-8 Paul speaks of the righteousness of the scribes and Pharisee being but dung/manure next to the excellency of Christ Jesus, which he sought to win. And than states he want Christ's Righteousness: 9) And be found in Him, not having mine own righteousness, which is of the law, but that which is through the faith of Christ, the righteousness which is of God by faith. Philippians 3:9 To be righteous in God's Eyes is to rely solely on the finished work of Jesus Christ our Saviour God to be justified. But the Pharisee and scribe rely upon they own ability to keep the law for righteousness, which is contrary to the Word, I King 8:46; Psalms 130:3; Isaiah 64:6; James 2:10. God in the OT foretold of Jesus becoming our righteousness in Isaiah 53:6, 11.

Romans 15:4 For whatsoever things were written aforetime were written for our learning, that we through patience and comfort of scriptures might have hope. IMO Paul is telling us here in in I Corinthians 10 that the Tanakh/Old Testament was written so that we might learn from them, and more importantly grow in our faith as we see God answering His people and their greatest time of need. If you read verse 12 of I Corinthians 10, we are given the warning to be careful if we think we stand lest we fall, the children of Israel had many moments in the OT that God did great miracles for them, but than they backslide, Moses just brought them out of Egypt, by the power of God, and what did the Israelites do, they made a golden calf and worshipped it. And in verse 13 of I Corinthians 10 we read that God is faithful to see us thru our trials, but never does God promise us not to go beyond our strength because it is God purpose to go beyond our strength so that we learn to live in the strength of Jesus Christ; Philippians 4:13 I can do all things through Christ which strengthen me. Yes God does say He will not tempt us above that we are able, but with the Holy Spirit indwelling us we so able to do more than any of us think. I know that I need to learn not to limit, the Almighty God power to what I can imagine because God is capable of so much more than I can imagine. Probably the greatest lesson is the Faithfulness of our God, we need to learn.
