  1. Another Lazarus thread (no pun intended), but I don't believe cremation to be wrong, I agree with Omegaman's view on the matter. I am also very for organ donation, though that won't be an option for me as the US don't accept organs from people who have lived in the UK for over 6 month between 1980 and 1996. (I discovered this when I tried to donate blood when my wife) due to BSE. We will be given heavenly bodies so I don't see cremation and organ donation to be an issue. I plan to have my remains donated to a local university for use as a cadaver.
  2. Frankly I believe Josh Duggar should have seen this coming, I also believe what he did was in the public interest as a high profile activist for the Family Research Council, a group who strongly campaigns for traditional family values. It is a reminder to all Christian men, if we are to stand for Biblical marriage, we have to honor our own marriage vows most of all (I say this most of all to myself)
  3. We are members of a rural Baptist church, to me denomination is secondary as others have said, with sound doctrine and good fellowship being more important. We have 40-50 every Sunday, and are quite close to a number of the there people there. Although the service it's self is more traditional in style that we would like we have been very warmly welcomed by the congregation and the preaching and fellowship is very good. I think it's important to be a part of a local church, that looks different for different people, some go to church in grand buildings every Sunday, others believe that the church should meet in homes and not have a paid minister. Others believe that you should go to church on Saturday, as it is the original Jewish Sabbath. The point I am making is people can be very legalistic on their view of what constitutes church, with some very strong views on the subject.
  4. This is quite common in Northern Ireland, they go to church out of tradition, and to have a minister to say nice things about them at their funeral.
  5. I had never heard of he Toastmasters before, it sounds like an interesting organisation. Unlike most shy people, I actually do really well at public speaking, I was involved in politics, I never held an elected office but I learned a lot about public speaking, and enjoyed addressing meetings, and felt I was good at it.
  6. What if the husband and wife are incapable of having children naturally? This isn't an option my wife and I would consider, but for many couples who suffer the pain of infertility this could be a viable option..
  7. Thanks for the advice I was bullied from a very early age at school, and I think that plays a big part. My family were quite poor and dysfunctional, and argued all the time, which led to my fear of confrontation. Thanks for the encouragement and scriptures
  8. I was thinking something called avoidant peronality disorder personally, but there is no confirmation of that.
  9. I have a really problem with social awkwardness. It has got better over the years, but I still have problems talking to people, some people even think I come across as rude and cold. The truth is I want to be out going, I feel like the real me is trapped inside, I feel my shyness is keeping me from being the man God wants me to be. I would like some advice to combat this problem thanks.
  10. My advice would be talk to your own pastor about your feelings for this man, perhaps he could give you more advice as he knows you and could give you advice on if you should pursue the relationship or not. From you post it seems that your pastor may know this man's family and he might have some insight about the family and weather any advances would be welcomed.
  11. My wife is taking the quizz now, it'll be interesting who she gets as her screen name is Hawkeye
  12. This seems to happen every year. Very sad that these people died without knowing Jesus
  13. I identify with Timothy to be honest, I am introverted, and still by modern standards pretty young but loyal. I also identify with Peter in some ways, capable of great love and faith one moment, but completely messing up the next.

    Building credit

Thanks for the in put, I do want to own a house in the future, but I think we will rent for the next while
  15. Good story, I think it's sad that some criminals, who happen to be people of color, use genuine past injustices as an excuse for their criminal behavior, which draws the attention from the police, and devalues the struggle of the likes of MLK. Are there crooked cops? sure there are, as there are crooked people in every walk of life. However in my job I serve police officers every day in my job, I have been treated with nothing but respect by them, they are just guys who are every day people, husbands, fathers, sons (there isn't many female police officers in our area). If you treat them with respect they treat you with respect. It is sad that some young men have lost there lives, but in many cases if they hadn't been drawing attention to themselves by doing criminal activity, they young not have been in those situations, the only one I feel sorry for was the young kid who was shot who had the toy gun. When I was growing up in Northern Ireland, at the tail end of "the Troubles" from a very young age I was tough never point a tow gun at the police or you could get shot, if this child's parents gave him similar advice he would not be dead today.

    Building credit

Hi all, as a fairly recent permanent resident tot eh US I find my self with a difficult time getting credit, I apparently am getting turned down for credit, even though I have a credit score of 776, although I have incurred some medical debt, this is due to not having a lot of credit history. In the next few years my wife and will will look into perching a home, yet for me it is hard to get credit, as I don't have much credit history. Our cable TV is in my name which is building credit, does anyone else know other ways for someone with limited credit history to build credit?
  17. I think instead of gripeing about this ministry, anyone had Bibles they haven't used in some time should donate one, perhaps we could start a Worthy Bible drive, if someone has a modern version to donate, we donate to this ministry, if someone has KJV we donate to the Trinitarian Bible Society.
  18. Hmm sounds like my local Lifeway store lol
  19. I think the reason I stayed at worthy is the closeness that some people have here. What really drew me in here the first time was the "is it just me thread" because it became a great group of people. This place we can discuss some very deep issues in discussion and controversial, yet we can have a laugh together in fellowship hall. The fact that this is a very well established site I think helps. That said this my second stint at worthy, and I don't think it is as good as it was around 2007-2008. To directly answer your question I think a good Christian forum has members who are zealous for the truth, they have members who don't take themselves seriously all the time, yet when it is time to be serious they are. They are welcoming to new people. The forums are administered fairly and justly, and the administrators are accountable to the members. Most of all Christ comes first.
  20. Are you not American, Ricky? I kind of always thought you were. I've lived in the US for 4 years, I suppose I have kind of "gone native". I'm from Northern Ireland though. I have another 2 years before I become a naturalized citizen.
  21. I mean to keep the "just google" part in. I didn't delete the whole sentience I was wanting to delete.
  22. I voted too, even though I can't vote in the actual election. If I was able to vote if Trump got the Republican nomination, he is the only one that would have made me consider voting for a non Republican.
  23. lol I used to be a laster too, I haven't read the whole thread though so I don't think I can be anymore though.
  24. I don't have one, other than to ask people dredging up old threads to look that the date the thread was last active. I know I sometimes look through old threads and look at some of the names and think "wow that person has not been here for a very long time" This is my second stint in membership here and I remember some of those people very fondly, and like remembering them, but at the same time I think it's time to leave some of those thread in the past.
