  1. I LOVE this thread and I love you guys! First of all, it is completely good and edifying to imagine Heaven, for many reasons: 1) JESUS used the same technique with us. Of course, Heaven would be unimaginable good and better than now, but JESUS knew that when NEED to have some images to become more excited about it, that's why HE USED images like the BANQUET (Matthew 8: 10-11 and countless other verses), the WINE of the Kingdom (Lc 22: 14-20), having power and responsibilities (Luke 16:10), and so on. 2) In order to proceed with more conviction toward a goal, our brain needs some "images". This is one of the reasons why Jesus used them. Therefore, if someone has only a "vague", "abstract" image of Heaven, 99% of the times he will not be really in love with Heaven and desiring it with all his harth. And he will regret not doing things and experiencing pleasures on earth, because he will think that he will never have occasion to experience them anymore, but this is WRONG. Therefore, dear @missmuffet, it is wrong when you say: This observation is also true for @Jaydog1976 and whoever jumps on the train of "let's NOT think about Heaven, let's just have it as an "abstract", powerLESS, NOT exciting image in our brain". Is it not edifying? Are the many "earthly" images that Jesus uses to help us not edifying? I'd suggest you sisters and brothers to reconsider your positions, and to BLESS this kind of thread, because there are already too many people NOT in love with Heaven, and love for Heaven is an important component of loving Christ because Heaven is His Kingdom. Because Heaven it's gonna be exciting, with many things to do, not an "abstract beatitude". God is a creative and active God. It's definitely likely that with the creative powers Jesus will give us, we'll be able to create "video-game"-like things Just far more advanced, now on earth we are already creating "virtual reality", in the Kingdom we'll likely be able to create entire virtual "universe" and play each others "games" And how cool would be "videogames" created by the Lord Himself I think so, that's why it's worth to spend every possible second on this earth trying to serve the Lord and helping others. So that we may look back with a smile I will also want to see in "high definition" everything Jesus did and said 2 thousands years ago! It will be exciting to see what the apostles have seen. why not...maybe on waves 10 Kilometers tall, in some cool planet that you'll be able to visit (we are already able to move along planets with our technology, I guess eternity is long enough to create technology to travel across universes) and then have some Heavenly fish in some Heavenly banquet with Jesus and the prophets. I think I've seen in some movies or ads poeple playing golf on clouds I'd like Jesus to rap Matthew 23 for me. To leave the pharisees (both the old and the MODERN pharisees) even more speechless. Thank you again, @BeyondET for this EDIFYING post. As for me, in addition to all the cool things you have said, again, I'd like to watch in "high definition" Jesus life and what He did and said in the 3 years in which He saved us.   2. Thanks brother for sharing your thoughts on this! I'll just remind that this is not a post about "rapture" vs "tribulation". There are tons of different ideas on end times and rarely people agree with each other, so I don't see much point in trying to join the "guessers" train, it's already too crowded and it didn't seem that useful so far. Neither this is a post about "guessing" the day, nor the hour. Some people mistakenly and surprisingly think that HASTENING has anything to do with GUESSING. In fact, it has NOTHING to do! It's not related, not Scripturally, nor logically. For example, if I have a conversation with a friend, and I ask him to reach me as soon as he can, this doesn't mean that I'm "guessing" the time he will arrive, because the time will still depend on other conditions. Yet, my friend after hearing my request will move faster toward me. The same is presented in Luke 18:1-8 that I suggest to read carefully. I'm always surprised when some people confuse "hastening" with "guessing", I'm still not able to even figure out how do they make this unmotivated connection. This post is about Hastening the Day of the Lord, as we are ORDERED to do in the Scriptures, but as we shouldn't do only out of duty but also out of desire! The desire to see Christ reigning over everything (your Kingdom come, your will be done) and to be separated forever from satan instead of keep having him around (deliver us from the evil one) I'll leave "tribulation" vs "rapture" discussions to wise and learned teachers, as well as discussion on predicting the time, because it looks like there are a lot of "guessers" already, so it's definitely not needed another one I'll instead focus on hastening, because there are less "hasteners" than "guessers", and hastening seems to be fare more useful and it is also what we have been taught to do.   4. I'm sorry for your difficult time! It's a good time to reason on how important is God in your life. If He is your reason of life, regardless what your husband will do you have nothing to worry, right? Becuase the Lord will always be faithful to you. And if God is your reason of life, if your husband think God is above all too, you'll likely get together. But if he doesn't love God as much, maybe it's ok to let it go. Time will tell you. But meanwhile, in this time, try not to worry and to get closer to God. And this way, you'll understand in your heart what's best. Be blessed

Thank you too my friend for keeping this thread about the prayer for the Kingdom alive, and stressing its importance I like your signature "in the Messiah's love", and your words are a testimony of the love for Him indeed. You didn't sound judgmental because you have always answered point by point, recognizing what you was agreeing with and what you was disagreeing with and why. Judgmental people on forums just classify a whole post as wrong, give few very reasons on why they do it, don't stay on point when they are proven wrong, never admit when they are proven wrong or when the others are just right, and last but not least attack personally by questioning one's salvation. You haven't done anything of this sort. On the contrary you've been an example on how to discuss profitably. I can imagine them not undertanding or having a very vague understanding on what they were writing in some cases That's the power of the Spirit. It was incredibly interesting to read your explanations. And you demonstrated a great understanding about the Bible. Some of your explanations I've found very convincing, some others a bit less but I won't insist too much on them. Btw, I had no doubt that we are serving a perfectly righteous God, I'm sure about that I was just questioning some verses from OT as actually inspired, and you made me read them some of them in a way I didn't considered and I find convincing I still think that the fullness of God's plan is in Jesus' Word, but it's definitely good to have a good understanding on some controversial verses in OT too.   7. I will not enter in the discussion about the questions itself. It is a complex question that would deserve attention and cannot just be solved with throwing few slogans. However, just wanted to point out that the user who opened this thread is being personally attacked for just asking this question and trying to present some ideas that he is considering, and he is being called "non Christian" just because he was reasoning. So please let's be more careful before throwing judgments about who is a "true Christian". Each one of us will be judged by Jesus, regardless how happy we are to assign to ourselves etiquettes like "born again" and judge other people's salvation. So again, let's be careful in throwing judgment on other people's "real Christianity" and therefore salvation. Especially with some people who are just trying to understand more.

There are tons, so feel free to comment there what you are commenting here. This one is actually different though, and I made it because like you I'm surprised how much the issue is discussed, while it may have no practical applications. And btw, according to you reasoning, feel free to post this same comment under the tens of thousands "once saved always saved" threads too. Seems like there is quite an abundance of them too, but I haven't noticed you going under them and say "hey guys, discuss this in one of the thousands already opened" on that topic.
  10. I was asking what does it practically mean to keep it. Most of the other threads talk about whether to keep it or not, this one talks about "what does it mean to keep it". Please read the description. Ps I'm not a Sabbath keeper and I don't mind about the issue, but I'm curious to know what does it practically mean to keep it for "Sabbath" keepers.

Since I'm on this forum I'm reading countless threads about "keeping the Sabbath" (that's quite surprising cause I've never heard about these discussions elsewhere before, didn't know it was such an "hot topic" or relevant one in Christianity). My question is: what does it mean to "keep the Sabbath"? What a believer should practically do on Saturday to "keep the Sabbath"? I've no idea about it because I usually read the Gospel and I don't find any indication on how a believer should concretely "keep the Sabbath", in other words I don't find any description on what's so special that a believer should do on Saturday, and not on Monday or Wednesday, in Jesus' words (let alone Thursday). Nor I find anything special that Jesus was doing on Saturday, except doing the exact same things He was doing on other days, like Friday, and this way making some Pharisees angry because they didn't want Him to perform the same things He was doing on other days. (Mark 3:2, John 5:16-17, Matthew 12:10, and so on, like: "So, because Jesus was doing these things on the Sabbath, the Jewish leaders began to persecute him. In his defense Jesus said to them, "My Father is always at his work to this very day, and I too am working.") So I sincerely don't know what someone should do to "keep the Sabbath", after reading every single Jesus' word in the Gospel, I don't find even a clue in His words.

  14. Great question, it's always beautiful to reason about how life will be in the Kingdom. It keeps us focused on what waits for us, it fills our hearts with gratitude so that we can serve the Lord even better. Let's have the Scriptures talk for us, into 2 parts: ---------------------------------------------------- 1 -On "pleasures": "I say to you that many will come from the east and the west, and will take their places at the feast with Abraham, Isaac and Jacob in the kingdom of heaven. " "for I say to you, I will not drink of the fruit of the vine from now on until the kingdom of God comes." "However, as it is written: "What no eye has seen, what no ear has heard, and what no human mind has conceived" -- the things God has prepared for those who love him--" "Blessed are those servants whom the master finds awake when he comes. Truly, I say to you, he will dress "himself for service and have them recline at table, and he will come and serve them." From these verses, we can imagine that incredible pleasures wait for us in the Kingdom. They will be different from the pleasures of the flesh in this world for 2 reasons: 1) in this world, someone have houses, good food, a healthy body, while someone else is starving to death. When we decide to go for a 2 weeks/thousands dollar vacation, we are "enjoying" it while someone else is starving to death. Instead, in the Kingdom there will be abundance everywhere, so pleasures will not be tied to guilt. 2) every pleasure will be made by God, so it will be incredibly better in its nature than those ruled in some ways by Satan In particular, I'm never able to read the whole verse from Luke 12:35-40 without joyfully crying. How mindblowing and heartblowing is the image of Jesus that "will dress "himself for service and have them recline at table, and he will come and serve them."? ---------------------------------------------------- 2 - On "being similar to God": "Dear friends, now we are children of God, and what we will be has not yet been made known. But we know that when Christ appears, we shall be like him, for we shall see him as he is." "It will be good for that servant whose master finds him doing so when he returns. 47 Truly I tell you, he will put him in charge of all his possessions." "All I have is yours, and all you have is mine. And glory has come to me through them." A loving Father, always wants His daughters and sons to develop at the maximum of their capacities. Even a loving earthly father wish his daughters and sons to become noble, smart, capable, etc. Now, it's reasonable (and Scriptural) to think that God wants us to be as similar to Him as possible (but of course not identical, he'll remain our King, in the Kingdom). So He'll likely give us incredible power. That is another reason why is so important to become loving beings, before entering the Kingdom! Because we'll not stand still and doing nothing. We'll have incredible powers, by being similar to God. And only a loving being can use power for loving purposes, while power of evil beings must be limited, to avoid them hurt themselves and others (Indeed it's written: "Whoever can be trusted with very little can also be trusted with much, and whoever is dishonest with very little will also be dishonest with much. So if you have not been trustworthy in handling worldly wealth, who will trust you with true riches? And if you have not been trustworthy with someone else’s property, who will give you property of your own?") ---------------------------------------------------- Finally, beware of everybody who tries to depict Heaven as a boring, static place. By doing so, they make people even more attached to this world, because people start to think that there are some things that they will only being able to do in this existance, while one day there will be nothing to do, just a boring contemplation. This is not Scriptural, nor makes sense logically, as demonstrated above, but it's a great way to pull the love for Heaven out of people.
  15. BEAUTIFUL question! I love John 15 too. I think there are 2 sides, theory and practice, both fundamental. On the "theory" side, even if sometimes we think to know enough about Jesus, to have memorized enough about the Gospel, it is never enough. There are a lot of information in that small book called Gospel, that are hidden by some "mainstream" interpretation of men, so we tend to take for granted many verses. Or to think we can wrap up everything is written in a couple of sentences. Often, behind mainstream interpretation, there are just people who called themselves "teacher" against Matthew 23:8-10, because loved to receive praise from one another as in John 5:44. So one way to have His Word remaining in you is listening to that questions that arise in your heart when you read the Gospel, and that sometimes you know somewhere deep inside that are not satisfied by standard answers. Jesus wants you to understand something deeper in that cases. (often deeper and simple at the same time). Always be open, never take for granted the understanding of not even a single Word from Jesus. The more we come to know Him, the more we can love Him. On the practical side it comes to apply what you have understood, and to see Christ in every of your neighbor. Growing in love for God and your neighbors, losing the love for pride, comfort, praises from men, sin, etc.

Remember the words of Eliyahuw (Elijah or "Elias") recorded in Romans 11: Romans 11:1-5 (KJV) 1I say then, Hath God cast away his people? God forbid. For I also am an Israelite, of the seed of Abraham, of the tribe of Benjamin. 2God hath not cast away his people which he foreknew. Wot ye not what the scripture saith of Elias? how he maketh intercession to God against Israel, saying, 3Lord, they have killed thy prophets, and digged down thine altars; and I am left alone, and they seek my life. 4But what saith the answer of God unto him? I have reserved to myself seven thousand men, who have not bowed the knee to the image of Baal. 5Even so then at this present time also there is a remnant according to the election of grace. From Eliyahuw's perspective, he was working alone. BUT, God corrected him and revealed that there were 7,000 who were on his side, even if he wasn't aware of them. That may be what we are seeing, too, because there are several on this forum that are reading but not posting. We may have many more partners in prayer than we can see. Only God knows who may have joined us. ("Wot," by the way, is the past tense of "to wit," meaning "to know." He was asking, "Don't you know what the Scripture says about Eliyahuw?") I hope so my brother. We are discussing many things here, and this is nice and constructive. However, that prayer should be one of the top priority in the good novel of the Kingdom. It happened to me to meet some Christians who were already doing it, even if rarely. So I hope as you said there are many praying right now the Lord's prayer with the meaningful intention, instead of thousands of human-created prayers, or at least in addition to them. I find sad some Christians not only not praying it, but are even opposing it with all their strength. Weirdly, they would never apply such opposition on thousands of human-invented prayers. Luckily, there are also wise pastors that are keeping this up. Above all, in my opinion, Jon Courson. And also Adrian Rogers, who has already completed his ministry in his mortal body. I know that every single Word Jesus said was directly the word of God. But especially for OT or letters, saying that God controlled every single word isn't the same that saying that God directly "wrote" every SINGLE word? This seems to be what you are stating. Like as the prophets were in complete "trance" and being used from God who was choosing word by word, basically as a keyboard. But if this is the case, can you explain me some verses that looks a bit "problematic"? Like: “This is what the Lord Almighty says... ‘Now go and strike Amalek and devote to destruction all that they have. Do not spare them, but kill both man and woman, child and infant, ox and sheep, camel and donkey.’” (1 Samuel 15:3) "When a man sells his daughter as a slave, she will not be freed at the end of six years as the men are. If she does not please the man who bought her, he may allow her to be bought back again." Exodus 21: 7-8 "If a man have a stubborn and rebellious son, which will not obey the voice of his father, or the voice of his mother, and that, when they have chastened him, will not hearken unto them: Then shall his father and his mother lay hold on him, and bring him out unto the elders of his city, and unto the gate of his place; And they shall say unto the elders of his city, This our son is stubborn and rebellious, he will not obey our voice; he is a glutton, and a drunkard. And all the men of his city shall stone him with stones, that he die." Deuteronomy 21:18-21 “Do not allow a sorceress to live.” (Exodus 22:18) Ye shall not round the corners of your heads. (while I'm not able to provide you not even one controversial verse in the Gospel) Can you explain me how all this is decided "word by word" by the almighty? Why so much hatred against fetus, children, women, slaves, even ugly people (Leviticus 21:17-24) or people with just physical diseases? I'm sincerely looking for the Truth, and asking you this with sincere heart. I've never said that Jesus delivarance is not mentioned in the Gospel! I'm only saying it looks istantaneous, if someone refers only to the Gospel on that. BUT I've no strong position on this, it's interesting to hear your point of view and there are already countless of people discussing this topic on here and elsewhere (none of them in agreement with one another, cause it's very hard to agree on what Revelation says) , and I don't want to add a voice on this point cause we'll see that Day Btw, I'm thankful. While it's a pleasure discussing with you many topics, some easier some harder, you are keeping the focus like me on the Lord's prayer, that will have an effect regardless our position on the pre/post/anti/multi trib issue It's more important to align our desires with the Lord and actively asking Him His deliverance, than trying to guess how that deliverance will happen. I trust God that it'll happen in the best way possible. But I also trust Him on the importance of asking for that to happen asap Don't want to slow it down because of the hardness of my heart, as ancient believers did when they took 40 years to cross the desert.   19. Don't worry, it'll take time, but continue to pursue good and to get rid of evil, through reading the Gospel, action and prayers! "I am the true vine, and my Father is the gardener. He cuts off every branch in me that bears no fruit, while every branch that does bear fruit he prunes so that it will be even more fruitful." It can be a painful process, but the results are amazing, and the destination is the Kingdom of Heaven!
  20. All churches need to understand that the Gospel is not about louder or lower volumes or stuff. The more they provide ways to understand and stick to the Gospel, the better the Spirit will operate. "When anyone hears the message about the kingdom and does not understand it, the evil one comes and snatches away what was sown in their heart." We can have the greatest singers in the world, or the worst ones, but if we don't provide understanding, the Gospel doesn't spread. "But the seed falling on good soil refers to someone who hears the word and understands it. This is the one who produces a crop, yielding a hundred, sixty or thirty times what was sown."

Let's aways remember that regardless how many proofs in favor of a theory, even a single counterproof can jeopardize the soundness of the model. Therefore, we may know even less than we think about time. Therefore, we should stop making absurd statements like "since the Father has set a date for something, that means we have no influence on that date.". Because we may had an influence when He set the date in His way to see and decide the future, since He takes into account our cooperation (as a ridiculous amount of Scriptures prove) and we haven't the least idea about how time works for Him. Or we should stop thinking that our prayers are "against" sovereignty of God. We are using our ant's brain to state something bigger than us, and that is not in the Scriptures, if we do so. So for example, if they Scriptures say: "ask and you'll receive", let's trust the Scriptures without convoluted timing reasonings. "God can see the end from the beginning, just as one can see both sides of a box by walking past it. My analogy is this: A two dimensional creature cannot see the end of a line from the beginning of it because he is embedded in the line itself; it is however no problem for a three dimensional being to see the end from the beginning because he has a z-axis, another perspective where he can view the line from outside the line (just as we can see a line drawn on paper)." This is a nice explanation. If you want an even nicer picture of this concept read "Flatland" "Therefore to limit God’s ability to know the future is to presume that we understand the limits of higher dimensions. Since we cannot experience those higher planes, we cannot proscribe their limits with theology or philosophy, nor can we understand their perspective." Again, agree. As I said above, let's stop questioning how free will is compatible with God's foreknowledge. Scriptures says is compatible: period! That's all we need. because we don't really have a grasp on the limits of higher dimensions. Therefore, when in the Bible it's written that God "changes" His plan because of the requests of His prophets, that's just a nice image to tell us that in His foreknowledge, God took into account also our choices and requests. So it was already in His will, His decision to listen to the prophets or to cooperate with His sheeps. ------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Long story short: beautiful article to open our mind on being cautios when reasonings about issues like foreknowledge, because we are only able to analyze fewer "dimensions" than God can. We are like the bidmensional creatures in the book "Flatland", if not far less. Let's trust the Scriptures. If God says that prayers can hasten His decisions (like in 2Peter3:12), let's trust them, without sounding ridiculous in making human statements about time.
  23. "Dear friends, we are already God's children, but he has not yet shown us what we will be like when Christ appears. But we do know that we will be like him, for we will see him as he really is." What does it mean that we will be "like Him"? As the verse says, it has not been shown us what we'll be on the Day of the Lord. I think it'll be a glorious state beyond imaginable, but I don't know much more. Would like to hear from you if you have any opinion on what this verse is referring to, and what does it mean "to be like Him".
  24. I got your concern, that's a sad phenomenon. Unfortunately, it will happen regardless stats I think For all new believers under this thread...read the GOSPEL many times, until you know it almost by heart, before even listening to any human preachers!
