  1. I think Harry Potter is not good. Especially as it tries to show some witches and the like as good. That is truly a lie and bad for children. I struggle with this about C.S. Lewis as I so very much like most of his other books. I think he at least shows witches as evil. yet I have seen the movies. I am an adult and not a child so there is a difference and I am a christian so not influenced in the same way as an unbeliever or a child would be. This is very bad for children it is not good. Withcraft is evil why put a happy face on it and call it ok? If I could go back in time I would not watch the movies because the Lord says it's evil. Leviticus 19:31 New International Version (NIV) 31 “‘Do not turn to mediums or seek out spiritists, for you will be defiled by them. I am the Lord your God. But tthe magicians did the same by their secret arts and made frogs come up on the land of Egypt. 15 eOutside are fthe dogs gand sorcerers and the sexually immoral and murderers and idolaters, and everyone who loves and practices falsehood. Rev. 22:15 ********************************* But the man who has doubts (misgivings, an uneasy conscience) about eating, and then eats [perhaps because of you], stands condemned [before God], because he is not true to his convictions and he does not act from faith. For whatever does not originate and proceed from faith is sin [whatever is done without a conviction of its approval by God is sinful]. Romans 14:23.
  2. Thank you OneLight and hope you are doing well.
  3. I heard someone say this "Salvation is a gift of God activated by faith". What are your thoughts on this statement?
  4. I really liked your post refresher. One thing though I am not sure about Christian's not going through the great tribulation period. God bless u sister.
  5. Hebrews 9:27 King James Version (KJV) 27 And as it is appointed unto men once to die, but after this the judgment:
  6. I did not read all the posts but I wanted to add that the place where this was being done was not the right place. They may have been doing this from the place where gentile worshipers were supposed to worship from what I remember being taught. (Not sure that is right though). When they arrived in Jerusalem, Jesus entered the temple courts and began to drive out those who were buying and selling there. He overturned the tables of the money changers and the seats of those selling doves. 16And He would not allow anyone to carry merchandise through the temple courts. 17Then He began to teach them and declare, “Is it not written: ‘My house will be called a house of prayer for all the nations’d ? But you have made it ‘a den of robbers.’e I really respect C.S. Lewis he lived modestly and donated all his book sales I think, if not all then most.
  7. The fourth angel poured out his bowl on the sun, and the sun was allowed to scorch people with fire. 9 They were seared by the intense heat and they cursed the name of God, who had control over these plagues, but they refused to repent and glorify him. 10 The fifth angel poured out his bowl on the throne of the beast, and its kingdom was plunged into darkness. People gnawed their tongues in agony 11 and cursed the God of heaven because of their pains and their sores, but they refused to repent of what they had done. This stood out to me today "but they refused to repent of what they had done". I didn't realize they could have repented even with the mark.
  8. Welcome to Worthy! This is a good topic for the forums this is the welcome section. Make a few post here maybe tell us a bit about yourself.
  9. I should have responded before sorry Promises! Yes it will be so incredibly awesome!!!!
  10. May I recommend reading the bible to get to know the Lord better. I started this morning a part of my notebook, that lists God's characteristics on a different page. For example from Genesis chapter 1. Creator and I list some of the verses that are interesting to me from these topics. I also took away that God is a judge. He judged what he made was good. So on another page I wrote judge and wrote one of the verses down. In doing this a few other things stuck out to me that i either forgot or never knew. For example it says that God created the heavens and the earth. But after this it said 3 And God said, “Let there be light,” and there was light. 4 God saw that the light was good, and he separated the light from the darkness. Now even knowing God probably spoke the earth and heavens into existence .. the first recorded thing in the bible that God said is "Let there be light". That just really stuck at me there is so much in the bible about light. That was special for me but you will have your own special things that God will speak to you through His Holy Word. I recommend two notebooks one for things that you learn and another exclusively about what you learn about the Lord. Also it is good to pray before you read asking God to speak to you that you want to learn more about Him and how he wants us to apply what we learn. I hope this helps you. Love and hugs to you in Christ.
  11. Hebrews 4:12-13 English Standard Version (ESV) 12 For the word of God is living and active, sharper than any two-edged sword, piercing to the division of soul and of spirit, of joints and of marrow, and discerning the thoughts and intentions of the heart. 13 And no creature is hidden from his sight, but all are naked and exposed to the eyes of him to whom we must give account. Addison, God's word convicts and encourages and does lots of things. Whatever you feel convicted of take it to the Lord and confess and ask for help. God wants that, the sooner the better. We are not perfect yet but we will be one day but for now if we stumble we have Jesus, our Savior and advocate. Jesus is praying for you and us that is such a comfort. We have the victory in Christ our Lord. 1 John 1:9 New International Version (NIV) 9 If we confess our sins, he is faithful and just and will forgive us our sins and purify us from all unrighteousness.
  12. Just picking your brain, and I hope you don't mind, but what are your thoughts about the "reading aloud". If you think I should post this elsewhere please let me know.
  13. I am so glad you were blessed by this hymn. I like how it centers on God and the gospel!
  14. Wombat I am sorry this happening. I would keep talking to your wife over and over telling her how much you love her and that you don't want your marriage/relationship to end. Maybe you should really marry her this is also the right thing to do! I would tell her that this is not the right thing to do etc as she is a christian. That you both can work it out! Maybe she just is pulled too hard by her parent's illness? Maybe she would love you all to move closer? I would dialogue as much as possible. There may be other reasons? Praying for you now and her and your family. Welcome to Worthy!
  15. Rose, I know you have been struggling with this for awhile. I think you should forgive them whenever you think about it and pray for them. Ask God what he wants you to do in prayer? I believe you said you tried to talk to them but that didn't help. All people are not the same and all churches are not the same. Follow the Lord above all people no matter what. I hope you find a good church. Praying for you!
  16. Stanza 1 To God be the glory, great things He hath done; So loved He the world that He gave us His Son, Who yielded His life an atonement for sin, And opened the life gate that all may go in. Refrain Praise the Lord, praise the Lord, Let the earth hear His voice! Praise the Lord, praise the Lord, Let the people rejoice! O come to the Father, through Jesus the Son, And give Him the glory, great things He hath done. Stanza 2 O perfect redemption, the purchase of blood, To every believer the promise of God; The vilest offender who truly believes, That moment from Jesus a pardon receives. (Refrain) Stanza 3 Great things He hath taught us, great things He hath done, And great our rejoicing through Jesus the Son; But purer, and higher, and greater will be Our wonder, our rapture, when Jesus we see. (Refrain)
