While God accepts all people he certainly does not want a bride composed of illiterate, ignorant, morons. We are told 1Peter3:15 to be able to give a Reason for the hope that we have. That means we have to understand theology, to understand the arguments atheists etc use against Christianity and to know how to present our arguments. The anti intellectualism that has permeated so much of evangelical Christianity is actually dishonouring God. We are intelligent and should be using it. It is interesting that Paul talked of training, of training for the Olympics of training like a boxer and of the trained professional soldiers. He doesn't talk about the mystical, spiritual person. It is very hard to be ' mystical ' when one is facing the loss of ones possessions, livelihood and one's life in the light and momentary troubles many Christians then and today face.

Obedience Comes by Fear, but Faith by Hearing!
Who me replied to Bro.Tan's topic in General Discussion
It might come as a surprise to you, but Jesus, in the gospels, only spoke to individuals. There are no speeches or pronouncements address to the nation of Israel, to the Roman empire or to any other nations. Jesus addressed people. Jesus through us still only addresses people as individuals. There is a reason for this. Nations are made up of people. -

Is that really what God wants from Christians? Why did Jesus say,' If you Love Me, you will Obey my commandments. ' ? -
Was the flood a worldwide flood or a flood of the known world?
Who me replied to Amigo42's topic in General Discussion
Why? does it take more faith or less faith to believe that God does not miraculously work in performing his plan. he doesn't use miracles to save people he uses us to evangelise and he saves those he has chosen. It is the same in history and into the future, God uses weather, people, words events etc to influence people to look to him. things like Sauls blinding light are one off events. -
Faith or Christianity has nothing to do with our feeling good. If it is just to feel good about your self become a buddhist and chant mantra to feel good about yourself. James 1:22-25New International Version - UK 22 Do not merely listen to the word, and so deceive yourselves. Do what it says. 23 Anyone who listens to the word but does not do what it says is like someone who looks at his face in a mirror 24 and, after looking at himself, goes away and immediately forgets what he looks like. 25 But whoever looks intently into the perfect law that gives freedom and continues in it – not forgetting what they have heard but doing it – they will be blessed in what they do. You say you have depression, what medication are you on, are you following your doctors advice. that is getting exercise, eating healtherly, not smoking, drinking, or doing drugs. A large part of the Christian life is service to others, either charity work or simply attendance at church. Something you won't do, you'll watch Hollywood's versions of the bible but won't watch church services or listen to sermons! Stop watching rubbish, and listen to preachers who can really dig into what the bible says and apply it to our lives. try from england the Martin lloyd Jones series of audio sermons for solid meat that will challenge you, your faith and make you grow.

Not as many as you might think. we are commanded to obey Jesus's command, both as a test of character as well as a measure of our love. Love being Jesus's basic command. I've seen the effect of suicide on those left behind. to lose loved ones through illness or accident is one thing, but for them to deliberately take there life, to deliberately leave those who love them is devastating.

Was the flood a worldwide flood or a flood of the known world?
Who me replied to Amigo42's topic in General Discussion
It's more a case of, why should God do a miracle when there is a simpler natural explanation. God decided one language into many very different languages, he may have given each language group a push to go there own way. I think it far more reasonable that not being able to talk with ones neighbors they just went there separate ways. -

Far more likely that being unable to communicate with the neighbors they got up and walked away untill they had scattered across the world. -
How is Verification of Apostles done today?
Who me replied to Daniel Marsh's topic in General Discussion
As sparks has said there are No apostles today. acts 1:21 Therefore it is necessary to choose one of the men who have been with us the whole time the Lord Jesus was living among us, 22 beginning from John’s baptism to the time when Jesus was taken up from us. For one of these must become a witness with us of his resurrection.” shows the conditions that have to be met in order to be an 'apostle'. there are those who will correctly tel you apostle means sent or messenge, but they adopt this title, much the same way as some Americans used to call there sons Duke etc, in order to call an authority or prestige they do not have and don't deserve. -
Because not everyone is at the same degree of maturity.

your soul is not your to loose. It belongs to Jesus if you are a Christian or to thedevil if you are not a Christian. It does not belong to you. Faith can be understood as Trust. Do you Trust Jesus to keep you secure untill he presents you to his Father?

Was the flood a worldwide flood or a flood of the known world?
Who me replied to Amigo42's topic in General Discussion
The bible say it was the whole world. The bible also says the the world will be destroyed, is this destruction of the the whole world or just part of it. Ones interpretation of the bible has to be consistent, either they both refer to the whole world or they both refer to only part of the world being destroyed. -
Sexual harassment at work
Who me replied to SweetBabyGirl's topic in Do you want to just ask a question?
Assume the worst and prepare for it, then the best is a pleasent surprise. This poster is frightened of being fired for just mentioning it. Having evidence of a history of abuse and possible co workers who will support her will make a strong case for her. Hoping 'might' resolve the problem, it could make it far worse, the what? -
Jesus died and rose again to pay for All your sin, not just those sins you know about, but for also for all your unknown sins. you do not have to list every sins you commit and repent of them. if you are worried tell Jesus about it and praise him for forgiving you every single sin you have or will commit.

Sexual harassment at work
Who me replied to SweetBabyGirl's topic in Do you want to just ask a question?
Keep a diary of the abuse. Who did or said what and when. talk to other girls there, do they experience it. will they also keep a diary and complain with you/ -
What is worse, despite believing in evolution as a means of gaining respect in the scientific community, they fail to realise that they are regarded as persons with defective logic. They believe in evolution and they also believe in God/Christianity. As any atheists will tell you, the two beliefs are not logical compatible. Atheists are convinced that the logic of evolution means there is no God. So to believe in both is really to deny both beliefs.

David wanted to build the temple and started to make preparations, only to be told it wasn't his job. If one has an ambition to serve get started, God will use or redirect that ambition.

How to trust God
Who me replied to faithfull-prophet4040's topic in Do you want to just ask a question?
What are you trusting God for? If you are trusting in what Jesus has done for you, then you do not have to worry about who you are trusting or in what you are trusting. Jesus is completely trustworthy. However if you are trusting in God for physical health, or for a partner, or for a well paid job, for physical safety. Then you should think about what Romans 8:28 All things work together for the good of those who are called according to God's purpose. Actually means. If you are trusting God, then all things are working for your good, literally what ever happens is intended to strengthen your relationship with God, for that is your and my alttimate good. -
Find out what councelling option exist in your town. Make a list of the types and there costs. Then ask him is he happy in this marriage. What would he like to change? If he starts to talk, listen to what he says. Ask if you can give your views. If he won't say anything, repeat the next day untill he either talks to you or makes it clear he will not discuss the marriage with you. Keep a diary of your efforts. Then ask your minister to try to talk to him. If he will not respond. Start divorce proceedings.

Jesus came because through him we not only have life, but we can have life to the fullest extent, because we are living as God intended us to live, in his service. John 10:9+10.

Conformity is the latest enemy of the church...
Who me replied to Arrabon's topic in General Discussion
We are social creatures who want to be liked and conforming to the norm of ones society is normal. Look at the behaviour of people attending your church, there will be a high level of conformity to what they consider to be normal behaviour. Today he internet, Twitter, tic tic etc etc conveys contemporary societies message and allows no escape from either its influence or from bullies, trolls etc. It makes it much harder to be different whether a teenager, a worker or an academic, to stand out from the crowd. Those determined to enforce conformity are prepared to use every and any method to obtain compliance. How one does this on the internet or at work is up to you, but in the church one has clear instructions to test every sermon against scripture and to discuss non compliance to scripture with the church elders. -
Sounds like someone wants a reason not to attend church. Christians are part of a family, a community, they are to encourage one another and this cannot be done in isolation.. An old old illustration. What burns hotter and longer, a burning coal in the fire or one away from the fire on the hearth?

Why would God test you for the last eleven and a half years? Example, you take a driving test, you either Pas or fail you are not taking the driving test for the next ten years. It is the same with God. I think you need to talk to your pastor about what is happening to you and get advice and/or help.
