i agree with onelight and many of the chatters that have given scripture on tongues.... i myself was not sure of speaking in tongues .. i didnt want anything that wasnt of God... i prayed and asked the Lord for the gift if it was of him... and i dont feel anyone that speaks in tongues are more special in Gods eyes or mans... i myself only speak in tongues when i am in deep prayer ... not for everyone to hear or show... i will be praying and sometimes i feel the utterance of tongues come on me... or from with in me... I dont feel a need to go around saying i speak in tongues or God gave me this or that... i pray and asked the Lord to show me in his Word and lead me by his Spirit as to what he wants me to do... and i try and do that... i also know this topic can cause many christians to become upset with each other and i for one prefer not to argue the point when we seem to get no where... and because this has nothing to do with someones salvation i dont feel a need to debate it all the time... i much rather be of one mind and one accord on things of God....i am thankful for all the Lord gives me and teaches me.. and uses me for his glory... as in acts..8:5-17 when philip came to the city of samaria and preached Christ to them... they were baptized in the name of Jesus and saved... they had recieved the Word of God... then after peter and John went to samaria and prayed that they might recieve the Holy Ghost... the samaritans obviously were saved before the visit of peter and john... peter who ought to know... defined salvation in First peter 1:23 as being born again not of courruptible seed but of incorruptible by the Word of God which liveth and abideth forever.... we seen in verse 12 that the samaritans had believed and had been baptized in water .. in verse 14 we saw that they had received the Word of God .... Peter and John didnt pray for the samaritans to get saved.... they already were saved... the apostles prayed that they might recieve the Holy Spirit...... and peter and john didnt pray that God would give the samaritans the Holy Spirit... they prayed that they might recieve the Holy Ghost.... then they laid thier hands on them and they received the Holy Ghost....they prayed for them that they might receive.... Hi sober.... well i am sorry to hear about the troubles ur having at this time.. but it is hard for someone to say what u should do... i do feel u should both pray together over this and see if God wants u to move and find another church... first off i feel that since ur pastor has past away and things have changed .. u need to make sure that it isnt just ur not use to the new ways... also i would talk to the pastor about how u feel .. i dont understand how ur church does the prayer list and praying for others in ur church but there again .. i just dont know... but i do think people should know what is going on with the people in ur church so they know to pray and check on each other... but i wish i knew the answers u seek... but i will pray that u find ur way in ur new church or hear from God on this... i also want to welcome u both to worthy.... hi blien ... been a while since i have talk with u ... good to see u anyway.... maybe u can stop in chat again soon but as for ur question ... hmm well i think it is part of human nature to want to be liked and to want peoples approval... but what u have to understand is that we are what and who we are and of course we need to try and improve ourselfs to some degree for ourselfs as much at for others... but mostly what we feel about ourselfs is protraited to others.... yes as u get older i think u will not want to impress as much ... but people should like u for who u are ... and those that dont .. it is there problem ... exspecially if you are doing the best u can in this life.... and God is always working on us ... which is good and it will be that way till he comes for us... but seek God on this and pray he can give u a peace as to who u are and lift the burden off u of trying to change to please others.... now i feel as though i am rambling .. so will hush.... well i agree with praying for sure and if you are having problems hearing or following the leading of Holy Spirit in this i would revert back to the Word and see if what ur needing to do in ur life or change goes against the Word... and if it dont and u cant know if its God then i wouldnt worry about it to much... if it isnt going against the Word of God... well for me it is simple... under any name i just believe that God made it simple for us and the bible tells us what we need to know as the truth... i am a born again washed in the blood of Jesus ... saved by grace.... and i am thankful to the Holy Spirit which leads guides and teaches me... now what ever group i am put in well all i know is the truth will set u free and i believe Jesus is that... simple very simple.... wow like many in here i just wanted to know the true question ... but after reading most of this and taking two asprin... i said forget it... not sure what you want us to say or answer... but i for one believe the bible to be the truth of Gods words from beginning to end... and we are to read it and live by it ... all... the Holy Spirit will guide and teach us what we need to know .. when we dont have an understanding of something. in the word..... hello ... just my take on it and i have no problem with other races marring if it doesnt affect ones salvation... if both are saved ... which is with anyone... what ever there race... i dont believe God sees color ... he sees the blood .. that is what i think... i have not seen scripture that says we cant marry outside of our skin color.... but there are many people that are very sure that we shouldnt ... i just dont see it that way... my prayers are with u... may God bless you .... sister vicki

well i havent met anyone in person yet... but i have made a great many friends... one of them is cece she is from tx.. and we are meeting up this summer.... i am also planning to go on the worthy trip in june.. where everyone is meeting there in gatlenburg.... think it will be fun... and i never thought i would ever say that i was meeting someone from on line... but God has changed my heart on that.... well for me ... our family moved into a new neighborhood and my now pastor lived up the street and he came down to our house and invited us to church... we had been searching for a church and was getting very frustraghted hunting a church cause we just didnt seem to beable to agree on one we all liked together... so we went to this church and we all liked it but in truth it was alot different than what we were use to.. indepentant church nondenominational.... but most would say penticostal.... now we were not use to people saying amen to loud or alot of clapping ... people saying amen and preach it brother or what ever... we were like ok we are close to the door so if mom said run lol we are out of here... like if someone brought out a snake lol... but it really ended up being a good true word of God preaching church... and we kept going and both me and hubby redeaicated our lifes to Jesus and both my kids got saved with in a year or year and half.... Praise the Lord... and the snake part was a joke so hope this dont get twisted up and i ended up hearing i am going to a snake handling church!!!!!!cause that isnt what i said... well dont have alot to add to what has been said already... just that if you do go head to head with them on scriptures u had best be prayed up and know ur Word... cause they start at a young age and they so know the scriptures as to what they want to use... but i am polite and will point out what i know to be true and back it up with scripture and as mike said some walk away wondering ... so a seed was planted... others are upset... but they are very faithful in there work and if we could be so strong and faithful to spread the gospel of Jesus.... dont mean to get anyone riled up over that statement .. i know there are many that spead the good news .. but i know more christians that have never shared the gospel after being saved.. just comfortable to sit and call it a day... we need to be about the fathers business big time... for time is running out... well i think it is very important to read the bible and i think nothing u read in there goes void... if you pray and asked the Holy Spirit to guide and help you.. memorising scriptures is great but i think God writes them on our hearts as well and will bring them back to remebrance when need be .. most of the time... but i do understand memory problems.. and i do believe you can read the bible and learn from it with out an education ect.... my brother quit school early on and learned to read alittle bit but when it comes to the bible he can read it fine... that is God... well to be honest i liked keilans answer about being one in the body of Christ so to speak... but i was raised for a few years in southern baptist church ... then we got out of church and i didnt go back to church reg.. till i was an adult with my own kids and we started a non denominational church .. but it is more like a penticostal church i would say... and normally when i am asked this question i usually say washed in the blood of Jesus saved by grace.. Well to me we should all attend a good truth teaching and preaching bible ... washed in the blood of Jesus church... and regardless of how we feel .. we should go and be with other christians that are praiseing and worshipping the Lord... cause when we do that he is in our mist and when he is in our mist .... things happen... you might not feel this or that way but Jesus can change that in a moment of time... that is one reason i think u should be in church ... satan would love us to talk ourselfs out of fellowship and praising the Lord cause he cant be long in there when there is praising of the Lord going on.... well kitty i say as others have its a sad thing but a true thing in some churches black white or other... but just pray and visit a few churches and let the Holy Spirit lead u as to which church u are to stay at.... he will not fail you in this... God bless sister vicki

Is it? How can any of us say that "the bible is pretty clear on women preaching in church, on the streets or where ever" when there is such heavy debate and speculation? The bible IS clear about many things and that makes for pretty short conversations, but I don't believe this topic is clear enough for any of us to take a strong stance on either side of the fence regarding this. ok let me choose my words carefully this time..... I.. me ... myself believe that the bible doesnt say anything for me to believe there is something wrong with women preaching the Word of God.... so all i am saying is for me .. women preachers are fine.. anyone that is saved and filled with the Spirit of God and goes out and preaches the Word to others and plants seeds ect... hopefully find Jesus... then that is wonderful .. a Praise the Lord!!!!! amen ...

well this topic has been talked about and talked about ... but as for me i feel that women and men can preach ... i have went to other churches and heard women preach that was under the annointing of God . and it was very enlightening ... but as for pastor i am not sure that a women can lead a church .. not because she is not able to but because i think the word of God is stating that... think that man is to lead our homes and our church... even though again i say a women can do the job and do it well.. just that we are not called of God for that as in a pastor.. but again preaching in church or where ever i see no reason that a woman cant do that ... think we are all called to spread the gospel ect..... that is true 4given very true... and the word... but i was just saying and i dont mean taking things to the extreme but still feel that there are people out there that God can use to help draw people that might not other wise even give him a second thought.. a chance by useing a few different ways than we are use to seeing... with out disrespecting our Lord .... satan uses all he can... and i think God can use the same means... now hope you take that as i mean it... like music is a big thing satan uses ... and so does God ... God can take the bad and turn it into something good and use it for his glory...but i am rambling again so i will hush... bet you put an amen after that lol and your right my heart is in the right place only want to lift up Jesus and give him the glory ... now i need to think this through ...lol ok love ya...
