Here's the thing - When the big corporations, like the banks and automakers, turn to the government for money and protection all that does is reinforce the notion that government is the solution. People see it and think, if they can do it why shouldn't we? We need to get out of the bailout business and Americans need to demand that corporations and banks start operating responsibly.

Let's hope we can get there without the depression. Republicans simply need to display character, heart, leadership and good ol' fashion common sense. People will follow a party that demonstrates these attributes. Conservatism at its core is "compassionate". When practiced and displayed properly, people will be drawn to it. I hope none of these things happen. I hope Obama has a true conversion to Christianity. I hope he moves well to the right of where he currently is. I want America to prosper, but if Obama does the things he says he is going to do, the result will be long term economic problems. Oh I agree. When the rough times come about, and they will, people will be looking for answers. Conservatives will be there to help them sort things out. Now is the time to prepare, to set the example, and to establish fresh credibility. You, Butero, are clearly blessed with a passion for what is right. As much as we want to warn people of the coming danger, we should also be showing them the way. Do you agree?

There's some change for you Obama... Obama has not taken office yet. The drop in the stock market is because of the new job report. Sometimes it's best to realize that the place you are is not the place you should be. There are good people at good companies to work for. Life is too short to unnecessarily put yourself through this. My wife just learned this the hard way. She was stabbed in the back and falsely accused of something that has left a black mark against her and a pending investigation by the state. Of which she could lose her license to teach. All because she wouldn't face the fact that she was not in the right place. Sure, she was in the right. But now she is happy that she's no longer a part of that terrible existence. She thought we couldn't make it without her working there and enduring the suffering. Turns out, we're doing just fine. THANKS BE TO GOD!

Obama's infomercial offered nothing inspiring. All doom and gloom. Nothing about his accomplishments to show how he has helped eliminate poverty and hardship from life in Illinois or Chicago. His quote "brother helping brother and sister helping sister" is what makes this country strong is hypocritical. This due to the fact his own aunt lives in a Boston slum and his brother lives in a hut in Kenya. He wants us to help his impoverished family members with our hard earned dollars...not his. He should put his money where his mouth is.

Have parents and other board members spend one day in charge of a classroom by themselves. Make the assignments incredibly simple and see if they can actually get all the students to complete the assignment. Make them pay for half the materials themselves. Put limits on the rest of the materials regardless if it meets the needs of the state required curriculum. Then pour a mountain of lesson planning, administrative duties, and dealing with parents on top of that. Then send a monstrous stack of papers home for them to grade. Then ride them the next day if they didn't get it all done. Then give them a puny paycheck in return for their service. Then find some of your co-teachers and talk about the other teachers behind their back. Then give them the option of going back tomorrow or taking a beating.

My answer would have been parents and school authorities. My kids don't do anything to warrant such punishment at school....yet. My wife is a school teacher here in Texas. She has worked at schools with and without. Her current school does not have it. She can handle herself and the students in either case but if given the choice, she'd like to have paddling as a tool in her class management toolbox. Out of her entire 2007-2008 class of 21, there are only 5-6 who have parents who seem to actually care and have disciplined kids. The rest are continually disruptive and take her time away from students who really want to learn and who do well. She uses every means available to her to positively influence and/or discipline these kids without paddling. Bottomline...they don't care...their parents don't care. I could write a book.

What is Mr. Coleman's theory on why the polar ice caps appear to be shrinking? I've watched the NASA Channel footage which show the progressive recession of the ice over time enough to realize something's up. Is it a totally natural cycle or should we not pay attention and do what we can to prevent/curtail any man-made problems? Who can actually say they support the production of so called "Green House" gases? Supposedly, the earth was covered with volcanic dust a zillion years ago with absolutely no ice on its surface, but then became a snowball. There wasn't any cars or aerosol cans back then.
