  1. The above posts are good - some about your prayer closet where you can focus on Him and His attributes while worshiping Him and there is "pray without ceasing" which can include praying for salvation of others and labourers into his harvest (Mat 9:38); people, their families and friends from listening to the news; if you have children, spouse, praying with them; Christian forums have prayer requests section including the medical personnel, family and friends; many Psalms are prayers; pray for the peace of Jerusalem; our leaders - international, national, state, county, and local including upcoming elections; military and law enforcement personnel; security including international and national; body of Christ including individual churches and their leadership (from I Cor 1); those who are persecuted for His name's sake; unity of families; children including the educational system; those who are addicted, homeless, and lonely; ask Him to bless our enemies and for forgiveness; and thanksgiving, praise, and worship.
  2. Eph 4:11 "And he gave some, apostles; and some, prophets; and some, evangelists; and some, pastors and teachers;" no indication that Yahweh stopped doing that. Also, as Christ Jesus said when the Holy Spirit comes, "He will guide you into all truth; for He will not speak on His own authority, but whatever He hears He will speak; and He will tell you things to come." (John 16:13).
  3. Yes, encouraging everyone to read The Word more. Couldn't find anything extensive about "Why Not Women?" on-line. Ads were along the lines of amazon.com "Why Not Women : A Biblical Study of Women in Missions, Ministry, and Leadership (Paperback)." As far as women being treated better in countries based on Judeo-Christian principles (Judeo-Christian is what I should have posted the other day) compared to others, read studies previously but didn't have much on-line. I hope it's ok to post this url - it refers to some studies though not the focus of the article by Brigitte Pellerin, The Ottawa Citizen http://www.canada.com/ottawacitizen/news/o...9a-323e75ae7c80 "...Christian societies tend to treat their minorities reasonably well and are able to tolerate dissent."
  4. So Biblicist you need to read The Word more. (based on post above "...really, what is wrong with telling someone to read the Bible more?)
  5. Biblicist - Thanks for letting me know "Why Not Women?' is on line. Also, I didn't mean to imply that my views are from this book. I've noticed over the years that sometimes believers that interpret the scriptures differently, say someone else needs to read the Bible more.
  6. He talks a good talk BUT It reminds some writings by New Agers - based on the words you think they mean one thing while they really mean something different.
  7. Generally women are treated better in countries where Christianity is embraced. But that's about as far as I can go with the OP. It's almost like you're saying women are 2nd class citizens and you want to point out how good women believers are better to heathen women?! Plus some don't agree with the interpretation of scripture that says women shouldn't be pastors, etc. Suggest you read "Why Not Women" it's a Biblically based book and answers every argument. He suggests that the superiority that some men feel b/c of their interpretation of scriptures, sets them up to be prideful.
  8. I know but I can't help but think about the ones who aren't ready -

    Out of Order?

These are end time scriptures. Isa 4:1 is one scripture some use to support their perspective of tribulation (pre-trib, mid-trib, etc.) b/c the number of men will be so reduced that are available for marriage - young men - that women will assure them that they will provide for themselves that all they want from them is their name.
  10. The scriptures stating that we're to love others applies to other human beings - not spiritual entities. Scripture doesn't say that Yahweh loves His angels. So "love the sinner, hate the sin" does NOT apply to the devil. satan and his entities have already made their choices. The Word is very clear about us - it's our choice, we either love Yahweh or the enemy.
  11. Most, if not all, the Psalms were sung. Music by Moses? Probably more but definitely includes Exodus 15:1-18 and Deut 32. I've read that hymns means psalms but we call them hymn books. Spiritual songs includes songs sung in tongues.
  12. Good posts above. When our prayers aren't answered, one reason is "Jam 4:3 Ye ask, and receive not, because ye ask amiss, ..." Apostle Paul's prayers were filled with thanksgiving and seemed to concentrate on the spiritual aspects of people's lives such as Colossians 1:3-9.
  13. "Why Not Women?" is an excellent Bibilically studied book that reviews every scripture and answers every argument against.
  14. Great post - it's always good to know ways to minister to Yahweh - plus "Joh 14:15 If ye love me, keep my commandments."
  15. 2Co 6:14 "Be ye not unequally yoked together with unbelievers ..." For practical application purposes - Can you imagine not being able to talk about Yahweh, scripture, sermons, books, etc. with the most important person in your life and they don't have a clue what you're talking about or really care about it? They're not going to want to live your lives together according to scripture. Discussing things before marriage such verses as "Eph 4:26 Be ye angry, and sin not: let not the sun go down upon your wrath:" these aren't going to be important to them. When it gets time to go to church, they're going to want to do something else. They're not going to want you to pay tithes. If you decide to have children, they're probably not going to think it's important for you to raise them according to what The Bible says. You'll be taking time to pray, read The Bible, and whatever ministry you have. Some ministries require money, time, and effort they're going to be fine with that - month after month? What if you are called to full-time ministry? Are they going to be fine with that? From personal experience, I can tell you - life can be difficult, it goes a lot easier if I follow what The Word says.
  16. I haven't gotten far at looking at the candidates but Obama is not getting my vote b/c he wants "In God We Trust" taken off our currency, won't wear a US flag pin.
  17. I think this is one of the funniest interpretations I've ever seen - women not suppose to speak in tongues.
  18. Complete Jewish Bible "Eph 6:4 "... don't irritate your children and make them resentful; instead, raise them with the Lord's kind of discipline and guidance."

    On Prophecy

Scripture says Yahweh will give dreams and visions; therefore, He does. The first step is to determine is this from the enemy, myself (pizza dreams), or Yahweh? So pray and ask for His guidance. Saying that you've heard from the Lord or been given a dream or vision isn't to done lightly. It is through prayer and confirmation of 2-3 witnesses. (He speaks to us constantly - Joh 10:27 My sheep hear my voice, and I know them, and they follow me" He uses many things including The Bible, a sermon, a book, dreams, visions, etc. "How to Hear from God in a Noisy World" is one resource to learn to hear Him better. Yes, we're to spend time with Him including in His Word. Often dreams and visions will cause someone to search the scripture more. For example, recently someone had a dream about birds and they wanted to see how birds were referenced in The Word. Everything He does has purpose.

    On Prophecy

Scripture has already been posted that Yahweh gives dreams and visions. So whether it makes sense to us or not, that's what scripture says. We need to find out if they're pizza dreams or from Yahweh. If you have dreams or visions that you think of from Yahweh, I encourage you to keep a journal. Sometimes the meaning of one part of a dream or vision is given and the meaning of other pieces are revealed later. Pray and ask Him to reveal the meanings - He may use you or someone else (scriptural basis: Joseph). Then He will also confirm things through 2-3 witnesses (in scripture also). After we're saved, we are all believers yet we have different functions - together we serve the body of Christ Jesus.
  21. What you heard is scriptural and points to Christ Jesus b/c you know you can't do it on your own - you're going to have to have His help - plus all believers should strive for.
  22. OP - I know what you mean but according to scripture - All believers have at least one spiritual gift (I Cor 12:11). Also, we're to pray without ceasing. What a privilege it is to pray. Our prayers go before the Lord - Rev 8:4 "And the smoke of the incense, which came with the prayers of the saints, ascended up before God out of the angel's hand." I'm sure there's more than these 2 things but they both are filled with ministry.
  23. Yes, you're under attack - call on Yahweh.
  24. The enemy & his group have had several thousands to study humankind so it can seem like he can. He can give us thoughts - but we don't have to entertain them. That's when we switch to what's in The Word.
