Public school forced on parent

Recently a Judge hinted that the children of a divorcing couple would be "better served" by attending public school. Today he ruled that they MUST attend public school despite testing two grades higher than their age.

This is an outrage and if I were the mother I would appeal the decision and sue on the grounds of religious discrimination. This Judge can not pick and choose which laws he is going to uphold.

I saw this on the news last week - it must be something to do with the divorce issue. The kids were testing above average - it just seems ridiculous to me to remove them from homeschooling. Poor kids...

It might depend on who is paying the child support and who has custody in this case. I can't really see how this would be discrimination as much as a luxury;if the mother is willing to pay for the private schooling,I would see no problem with it.

If the woman had stayed committed to her husband, and followed his leadership, instead of her church's leadership...she wouldn't be in this mess with a divorce. The husband has just as much right to raise his kids as the woman does.

The inconsistentcy of the children being in public school part-time and homeschooled part time...is NOT good for the children. Based on the facts available the judge made the best decision for the kids, in his opinion.

In this case, I agree with the judge.

I looked at the article, and it didn't say anything about the husband having an affair that I could see.

There was mention of the church, though. There were charges about it being a cult from some. A mini-web search could not confirm nor deny this charge.

you really are from the 'good ole boys' network, eh axxman. the husband who had an affair certainly wasn't committed to his wife. but being the man, i guess that was his perogative and it's ok. you have no idea what caused the divorce or anything about the marriage. and yet... you blame the woman. do the initials MCP mean anything to you?

According the husband the wife withdrew from the relationship after getting involved with some church. Cheating on your spouse is NEVER a good idea...but I can speak from experience that when someone pulls out of a relationship physically, mentally, and spiritually it is very difficult for the abandoned spouse to not fall into the trap of lust when someone else provides those needs.

The initials "MCP" mean nothing to me.

The husband and wife were BOTH wrong. The reason that I focused on the wife is because she is the one playing victim here. You don't get to play victim when you are equally responsible for your marriage falling apart...and things don't all go your way during the divorce. Ultimately, it doesn't matter who is at fault...what matters is the well-being of the children...and the judge was right in this case, imo.
