They pop up everywhere. sceptics, I mean. Stirrers. Doubters. What do they really want ? Truth, arguments ?or are they just plain ornery wanting to hog the limelight?

Can't help it . It's just the impression I get.

No introductions, no beg your pardons, no by your leave, just whammo.

cheers.

I have a question to some people, and do not be mistaken I have thought this sometimes.

My question is, do some believe when the scriptures say, in The Laws of Moshe, that they will last forever, that that means everyone for all time will have to continue to do all those things as much as they can?

If they do believe that way, then they would also believe that the New Testament in Greek is some kind of ploy to stop people from being blessed, correct?

By making them turn to Christ, and making them not do the different areas of the law of Moses, they would believe that maybe the Catholic church, changed what Christ really did say, and made it so sometimes people would have to not do the different laws of Moshe, so they could not receive all the blessing of the Older Testament.? Is this a correct thought.

If these thoughts are correct then, how can we see, and know without any doubt, that the Catholic church did not invent many things, teachings which are in the New Testament of the bible, I mean leading people away from the Law of Moses, and saying Christ said things when He did not truly say things?

These are some thoughts I have, yet try not to entertain them, until I can see they are true, and if they are not true, I will never entertain them.

I am just asking some questions? Mainly for those who believe they must do the Laws of Moses, I would like to see if they have any insight regarding these questions.

Although if people never did change the true scriptures then we do not need to worry about this.

Amen, Eric!

I kinda vented about this in another thread and it came accross wrong because I included info relating to one of my posts that was edited. That part should've stayed in a PM, and I'm sorry it was made public by me, but my real point was that there seems to alot of these types here now. They just show up and...WHAM!

I guess that's a sign that this board is doing good things for God. We (all of us that post here on a fairly regular basis and those wonderful people that run this place) wouldn't be attacked so bad if we were not effective!

Hey, AllforJesustheLord -

What you do not seem to understand is that the "Law" [ Torah ] is not about rules and regs, but about LOVE. Isn't that what Jesus said?

When you look at all that is commanded in Exodus - Deuteronomy through the eyes of, "How is this an expression of love?" - keeping the cultural context in mind - you should see the "Law" taking on a whole new meaning.

Thus the laws for cleanliness and eating and all that kept the people from getting sick through bacteria and parasites and other pathenogens. The laws for how to handle a thief sure is a better system than throwing them in jail (thieves had to repay I think triple-fold what they stole) - this not only punishes the thief but allows for a reconciliation between the parties.

These are just a few examples.

No, we shouldn't be legalistic about the Law. However, it does provide a good guide for how to do love to yourself and others and God.

Make sense?

Greetings Stevehut,

What do we need to know to be saved, that is not in the canonical books?

According to Catholic doctrine - become a member of the Catholic Church.

Blessings,

Dad Ernie

Yes, I understand that. I'm trying to elicit more specific responses from Catholics here, so as to understand their position. :t2:

There were no Christians in the OT - they were called Old Testament saints.

1- did the First Christians believe in sola scriptura despite the creeds of the early Church

2- Did he also misspeak when he called the Church, not Scripture, the pillar and foundation of the Truth?

3- Considering he wrote that statement when no NT existed,

4- it seem Paul was exhorting us to follow the Church in conjunction with the written word,

5- I don't put my faith in tradition alone, but in Scripture AND Tradition.

1- I believe the Scriptures came much earlier than the creeds...

2- Well, that depends. Are Paul's letters Scripture? If the Scripture is not the authority, then why would his words matter?

3- Peter compared the letters of Paul to "the other Scriptures". Apparently, Peter regarded his words as "Scripture" in and of themselves. This, in turn, would seem to imply that some of the apostles' writings were already known at the time, even if not bound together as a "New Testament".

2 Peter 3:16

His letters contain some things that are hard to understand, which ignorant and unstable people distort, as they do the other Scriptures, to their own destruction.

4- Of course :wac: The question here is, how far does that authority go?

5- So what would you do if they happened to conflict? Then what?

    • You are coming up higher in this season – above the assignments of character assassination and verbal arrows sent to manage you, contain you, and derail your purpose. Where you have had your dreams and sleep robbed, as well as your peace and clarity robbed – leaving you feeling foggy, confused, and heavy – God is, right now, bringing freedom back -- now you will clearly see the smoke and mirrors that were set to distract you and you will disengage.

Right now God is declaring a "no access zone" around you, and your enemies will no longer have any entry point into your life. Oil is being poured over you to restore the years that the locust ate and give you back your passion. This is where you will feel a fresh roar begin to erupt from your inner being, and a call to leave the trenches behind and begin your odyssey in your Christ calling moving you to bear fruit that remains as you minister to and disciple others into their Christ identity.

This is where you leave the trenches and scale the mountain to fight from a different place, from victory, from peace, and from rest. Now watch as God leads you up higher above all the noise, above all the chaos, and shows you where you have been seated all along with Him in heavenly places where you are UNTOUCHABLE. This is where you leave the soul fight, and the mind battle, and learn to fight differently.

You will know how to live like an eagle and lead others to the same place of safety and protection that God led you to, which broke you out of the silent prison you were in. Put your war boots on and get ready to fight back! Refuse to lay down -- get out of bed and rebuke what is coming at you. Remember where you are seated and live from that place.

Acts 1:8 - “But you will receive power when the Holy Spirit has come upon you, and you will be my witnesses … to the end of the earth.”

    • Understanding the Enemy!

I thought I write about the flip side of a topic, and how to recognize the attempts of the enemy to destroy lives and how you can walk in His victory!

For the Apostle Paul taught us not to be ignorant of enemy's tactics and strategies.

2 Corinthians 2:112  Lest Satan should get an advantage of us: for we are not ignorant of his devices.

So often, we can learn lessons by learning and playing "devil's" advocate.  When we read this passage,

Mar 3:26  And if Satan rise up against himself, and be divided, he cannot stand, but hath an end.
Mar 3:27  No man can enter into a strong man's house, and spoil his goods, except he will first bind the strongman; and then he will spoil his house.

Here we learn a lesson that in order to plunder one's house you must first BIND up the strongman.  While we realize in this particular passage this is referring to God binding up the strongman (Satan) and this is how Satan's house is plundered.  But if you carefully analyze the enemy -- you realize that he uses the same tactics on us!  Your house cannot be plundered -- unless you are first bound.   And then Satan can plunder your house!

    • Abraham and Issac: Pictures of the Resurrection, Part 2
      Shalom everyone,

As we continue this series the next obvious sign of the resurrection in the Old Testament is the sign of Isaac and Abraham.

Gen 22:1  After these things God tested Abraham and said to him, "Abraham!" And he said, "Here I am."
Gen 22:2  He said, "Take your son, your only son Isaac, whom you love, and go to the land of Moriah, and offer him there as a burnt offering on one of the mountains of which I shall tell you."

So God "tests" Abraham and as a perfect picture of the coming sacrifice of God's only begotten Son (Yeshua - Jesus) God instructs Issac to go and sacrifice his son, Issac.  Where does he say to offer him?  On Moriah -- the exact location of the Temple Mount.
