Let's stop there & make sure you agree with this, otherwise there's little point in going on....I'll need to cite more proof of Jesus being God.

So, you do or do not believe that Jesus is God ?

I'll follow up after your answer.

For me to answer that question you will have to define the term "God". There are many different definitions from many different people. I have tried my best in all my posts to explain that it is the God part that I have trouble with. The greek and hebrew words that are use for god God are also used for other things and translated differently, thus leaving us to decifer what the term God means ourselves.

As an example in Judges 16:23 it says in the KJV "Then the lords of the Philistines gathered them together for to offer a great sacrifice unto Dagon their god, and to rejoice: for they said, Our god hath delivered Samson our enemy into our hand.

The word translated god here is strongs 430 "eolhiym"..... this is also the hebrew word you use in Genesis 1 where it says that God created the heavens and the earth. We just can not simply say that the bible says that Jesus is god, and the Father is God so they are the same; unless you are also willing to say that the Father and Dagon are one also. And that is such a bad thought I actually had trouble writing it.

So help me out here and define the word "God" for me so I will know if I can agree with you or not.

Sam

Define God ? Well, from my limited human perspective, I rely on The Word to tell me, which says that God is the Creator of all (Deu 6:4; Col 1:16), eternally existing in three distinct Persons

Our FATHER in heaven came here in the flesh to be a sacrefice for sin.

He sends his SPIRIT to indwell the believer.

The SON or our FATHER in the flesh is the only person involved.

The father and His SPIRIT that he sends to Indwell the believer are SPIRIT not persons.

The FATHER is one, the other two are messengers but are still the FATHER.

The summery is, They are all the FATHER.

ARE you totaly confussed now? or is this understandable.

BOB is right how do you explain in words?

Our FATHER in heaven came here in the flesh to be a sacrefice for sin.

Then John 3:16 is erroneous.

God did not so love the world that He GAVE His only begotten Son, He so loved the world that He came Himself. He had nothing to give.

In that case God told Abraham to do something that He was not capable of doing. He expects more from His creatures than does from Himself. He should have told Abraham to go sacrifice yourself. It would have been much easier for Abraham to have done that you can be sure.

He sends his SPIRIT to indwell the believer.

The SON or our FATHER

Everything you have Belongs to GOD beliver or non Believer. Nothing exsist that is not HIS. All that is given, HE gave. I don't understand your reasoning.

It was not my intent to confuse anyone. What I posted as far as I Know does not conflict any other scripture. The Spirit is not confused. These subjects are hard to put into human terms. A Problem that even exsists in the scriptures.

an example

Mr 4:30

Then He said, "To what shall we liken the kingdom of God? Or with what parable shall we picture it?

Matthew Chapter 3

16 As soon as Jesus was baptized, he went up out of the water. At that moment heaven was opened, and he saw the Spirit of God descending like a dove and lighting on him. 17 And a voice from heaven said, "This is my Son, whom I love; with him I am well pleased."

Jesus the Son was in the water, the Father was in Heaven and the Spirit decended from Heaven onto Jesus the Son.

Once again, another example of the triune nature of God in Scripture. Yes, one minded (like-minded) BUT not one mind. THREE persons with like minds...the mind of GOD.

OK, enough discussion for me. Like I said, if you can't explain Matthew 3:16-17, Matthew 24:36, John 16:13 and the many other passages of Scripture that testify to the triune nature of the God-head, you cannot make a good case for the "Jesus Only" nature of God. Scipture is clear in that when Jesus walked the earth amoung man, the FATHER was still in Heaven. The throne room was not emptied.

Be Blessed,

Wayne

I voted yes

As for all these analogies, no one, this side of heaven will ever fully understand the mystery of the Trinity. But it is real. They are all 3 equally God, in one.

Matthew

3:16

When He had been baptized, Jesus came up immediately from the water; and behold, the heavens were opened to Him, and He  saw the Spirit of God descending like a dove and alighting upon Him.

3:17

And suddenly a voice came from heaven, saying, "This is My beloved Son, in whom I am well pleased."

The Father was in heaven when this was happening. The SON was in the water. The SPIRIT came down as a Dove. There is only one person mentioned here. CHRIST.

The FATHER in heaven was and is SPIRIT.

The Dove is not a person. But the Spirit that came down is Spirit.

Matthew 24:36

"But of that day and hour no one knows, not even the angels of heaven, but My Father only.

The FATHER in heaven decided to keep this info to himself and not inpart it to himself in the flesh or the angels. I Don't know why. How could I?

John 16:13

However, when He, the Spirit of truth, has come, He will guide you into all truth; for He will not speak on His own authority, but whatever He hears He will speak; and He will tell you things to come.

This is John trying to explain in human terms The messenger of the spirit. The Helper that will link you to the FATHER in heaven. Still not a person but a SPIRIT.

And now that CHRIST has asended into heaven HE is Spirit. That only leaves YOU to be HIS body. The only persons left are YOU.

you cannot make a good case for the "Jesus Only" nature of God.

I was thinking more on the lines of the FATHER only nature of GOD and all of The provissions that he has made for us Because he loves us.

Saved by Grace If I am wrong Please don't give up on me. I am searching for the truth and do not mean to come across as a know it all.

Bless you idied2. Give up on you? Never! Please don't ever give up on me either. OK? We are brethren and there is nothing wrong with searching for the TRUTH as the Spirit of God gives us understanding. It is expected of us.

I have had this discussion with so many people, to include my own family, and many times the confusion lies in the definition of a person; not so much the triune nature of God.

So, what is a person? Charles Stanley writes in his book, "Relying on the Holy Spirit", that the three foremost qualites of personhood are:

KNOWLEDGE... an ability to know, understand and recognize.

WILL... the ability to make choices on the basis of what he/she chooses to do.

EMOTION... an ability to have and express feelings.

A person is NOT restricted to vessels of FLESH. FLESH is not and does not make a person. We do not stop being a person when our flesh dies and returns to dust and our spirit goes to be with the Father in Heaven. Do we?

BOTTOM LINE: The FLESH has nothing to do with personage. Therefore, it is TRUTH that the FATHER, SON and HOLY SPIRIT make up the GOD-HEAD, the great I AM, Creator of all things. Three persons in ONE. What an amazing concept!

A good study on the subject can be found at "Do Christians Believe in Three Gods?" An RBC Discovery Booklet

I hope it helps increase your understanding. I found it very helpful... yet the complete nature of GOD is still a mystery and will continue to be regardless of what we think.

Be Blessed,

Wayne

    • You are coming up higher in this season – above the assignments of character assassination and verbal arrows sent to manage you, contain you, and derail your purpose. Where you have had your dreams and sleep robbed, as well as your peace and clarity robbed – leaving you feeling foggy, confused, and heavy – God is, right now, bringing freedom back -- now you will clearly see the smoke and mirrors that were set to distract you and you will disengage.

Right now God is declaring a "no access zone" around you, and your enemies will no longer have any entry point into your life. Oil is being poured over you to restore the years that the locust ate and give you back your passion. This is where you will feel a fresh roar begin to erupt from your inner being, and a call to leave the trenches behind and begin your odyssey in your Christ calling moving you to bear fruit that remains as you minister to and disciple others into their Christ identity.

This is where you leave the trenches and scale the mountain to fight from a different place, from victory, from peace, and from rest. Now watch as God leads you up higher above all the noise, above all the chaos, and shows you where you have been seated all along with Him in heavenly places where you are UNTOUCHABLE. This is where you leave the soul fight, and the mind battle, and learn to fight differently.

You will know how to live like an eagle and lead others to the same place of safety and protection that God led you to, which broke you out of the silent prison you were in. Put your war boots on and get ready to fight back! Refuse to lay down -- get out of bed and rebuke what is coming at you. Remember where you are seated and live from that place.

Acts 1:8 - “But you will receive power when the Holy Spirit has come upon you, and you will be my witnesses … to the end of the earth.”

    • Understanding the Enemy!

I thought I write about the flip side of a topic, and how to recognize the attempts of the enemy to destroy lives and how you can walk in His victory!

For the Apostle Paul taught us not to be ignorant of enemy's tactics and strategies.

2 Corinthians 2:112  Lest Satan should get an advantage of us: for we are not ignorant of his devices.

So often, we can learn lessons by learning and playing "devil's" advocate.  When we read this passage,

Mar 3:26  And if Satan rise up against himself, and be divided, he cannot stand, but hath an end.
Mar 3:27  No man can enter into a strong man's house, and spoil his goods, except he will first bind the strongman; and then he will spoil his house.

Here we learn a lesson that in order to plunder one's house you must first BIND up the strongman.  While we realize in this particular passage this is referring to God binding up the strongman (Satan) and this is how Satan's house is plundered.  But if you carefully analyze the enemy -- you realize that he uses the same tactics on us!  Your house cannot be plundered -- unless you are first bound.   And then Satan can plunder your house!

    • Abraham and Issac: Pictures of the Resurrection, Part 2
      Shalom everyone,

As we continue this series the next obvious sign of the resurrection in the Old Testament is the sign of Isaac and Abraham.

Gen 22:1  After these things God tested Abraham and said to him, "Abraham!" And he said, "Here I am."
Gen 22:2  He said, "Take your son, your only son Isaac, whom you love, and go to the land of Moriah, and offer him there as a burnt offering on one of the mountains of which I shall tell you."

So God "tests" Abraham and as a perfect picture of the coming sacrifice of God's only begotten Son (Yeshua - Jesus) God instructs Issac to go and sacrifice his son, Issac.  Where does he say to offer him?  On Moriah -- the exact location of the Temple Mount.
