We DON'T live in a country where you can choose same sex marriage or "opposite marriage" (...), unless you live in one of a handful of states. So I might bust her simply for being wrong. Guest LadyC Posted April 21, 2009 Share Posted April 21, 2009 i disagree. we DO live in such a country. people can CHOOSE to be homosexual, and can CHOOSE to get married in a state that permits it. depending on the individual state, you may or may not have to move there and establish residency. i think her answer could have been a little stronger on the first part. she answered part two (why or why not) very clearly, but she failed to answer the first part (do you think other states should follow suit) very well. she could have said "no, i do not think other states should follow". but these girls are put on the spot with these questions. they aren't given their questions in advance so they can rehearse their answers, and given the circumstances, i think she did a pretty good job. but i have no doubt that perez specifically chose that question for her because he knew she was a christian. i heard that the director of the miss california pageant was "personally hurt" and offended by her answer and implied that she doesn't even deserve the california crown. He is a very sick individual, full of self righteousness and pride. He said that he did not like how she worded her response, but if she had worded it the way he like, he would of voted for her. He was also quite forthcoming about talking with two 16 year old "Christians" that sided with him, agreeing that homosexuals should marry, feeling this speaks for the whole Christian community.
