Ok I thought that I heard during the president election, that the rich was going to pay more on taxes. Did the gov. lied. Cause it seems that gas, and food, and cigg. went up, Does it have to do with the bail out, are we paying for it. I dont think this tax raising gonna help us, and I thought the rich was supposed to pay for it. seems like were paying for it. So help me understand better. :bored-1:

Wealth And Power

A man to whom God hath given riches, wealth, and honour, so that he wanteth nothing for his soul of all that he desireth, yet God giveth him not power to eat thereof, but a stranger eateth it: this is vanity, and it is an evil disease.

Ecclesiastes 6:2

Can Trick A Feller

Remove far from me vanity and lies: give me neither poverty nor riches; feed me with food convenient for me:

Proverbs 30:8

But Goodness Comes From The LORD

Oh that men would praise the LORD for his goodness, and for his wonderful works to the children of men!

For he satisfieth the longing soul, and filleth the hungry soul with goodness.

Psalms 107:8-9

Actually, Tigger - I just saw on a news item comparing gas prices today vs. last Memorial Day - Gas is almost $1.13 a gallon CHEAPER now than same time last year. Food prices (according to my husband who loves to shop and compare) are pretty much the same except Dairy... and since we just paid our income taxes based on the 2008 bill - how can you say the rich are not paying more taxes. To raise revenue in their individual states - a lot of states raised taxes on cigarettes... Which I have absolutely no problem with.... hope they get more expensive.

Yep, it's state taxes that have gone up, for the most part. I just got my escrow statement and the property taxes have increased 15%! Of course, we don't pay city or state income taxes here so it could be worse.

Why would you wish a greater financial burden be placed upon your neighbor?

Why would you wish a greater financial burden be placed upon your neighbor?

As we speak... my beloved neighbor is being cared for by Hospice and is gasping his last breaths through an oxygen mask. This once vital and engaging man is a shell of himself. His skin hanging on his large frame. His eyes tell the story though - they are full of pain and exhaustion. I was with him several years ago when his wife died of lung cancer from her many years of smoking. He never smoked and he also has lung cancer. He didn't have to - he breathed in copious amounts of poison each day because he lived with her and adored her. Then, when he went to work - he worked in an office for many years where so many people smoked. I live in THE Tobacco state... it contributes to much revenue here. I cannot begin to count the funerals I've attended for people who died from smoking and smoke related illnesses. I went to see my neighbor this morning... I don't think it'll be much longer. So, when you ask me why I would wish a greater financial burden on my neighbor - I love my neighbor and he has told me many times he wishes he had never seen a cigarette. This is a 'financial burden' that people bring upon themselves - the real cost of the cigarette is the years of health care for those affected and the pain and sadness I see from those they leave behind. So, sorry - I don't really care how expensive they get.

Cigarettes aren't something required to live...if one doesn't want to pay the tax they just stop buying them. I wish they would vanish from the earth because I too have seen people die from smoking.

Is raising the price of smokes going to take away all the pain?

Do you think people are going to stop smoking?

Cigarettes aren't the only cause of lung cancer.

Here's something to think about............when you wish a burden on someone else, somewhere down the road, that burden will find it's way back to you.

The more $$ the tobacco companies make - the more they contribute to the health care of those who are ruining their health and that of others.

Yes, I think people will eventually stop smoking.

You are correct - I never said smoking was the only cause of lung cancer - but it is by far the most preventable.

I am sure I will have many more burdens in my life - you are not my conscience - God is and He will deal with me and my burdens.

    • You are coming up higher in this season – above the assignments of character assassination and verbal arrows sent to manage you, contain you, and derail your purpose. Where you have had your dreams and sleep robbed, as well as your peace and clarity robbed – leaving you feeling foggy, confused, and heavy – God is, right now, bringing freedom back -- now you will clearly see the smoke and mirrors that were set to distract you and you will disengage.

Right now God is declaring a "no access zone" around you, and your enemies will no longer have any entry point into your life. Oil is being poured over you to restore the years that the locust ate and give you back your passion. This is where you will feel a fresh roar begin to erupt from your inner being, and a call to leave the trenches behind and begin your odyssey in your Christ calling moving you to bear fruit that remains as you minister to and disciple others into their Christ identity.

This is where you leave the trenches and scale the mountain to fight from a different place, from victory, from peace, and from rest. Now watch as God leads you up higher above all the noise, above all the chaos, and shows you where you have been seated all along with Him in heavenly places where you are UNTOUCHABLE. This is where you leave the soul fight, and the mind battle, and learn to fight differently.

You will know how to live like an eagle and lead others to the same place of safety and protection that God led you to, which broke you out of the silent prison you were in. Put your war boots on and get ready to fight back! Refuse to lay down -- get out of bed and rebuke what is coming at you. Remember where you are seated and live from that place.

Acts 1:8 - “But you will receive power when the Holy Spirit has come upon you, and you will be my witnesses … to the end of the earth.”

    • Understanding the Enemy!

I thought I write about the flip side of a topic, and how to recognize the attempts of the enemy to destroy lives and how you can walk in His victory!

For the Apostle Paul taught us not to be ignorant of enemy's tactics and strategies.

2 Corinthians 2:112  Lest Satan should get an advantage of us: for we are not ignorant of his devices.

So often, we can learn lessons by learning and playing "devil's" advocate.  When we read this passage,

Mar 3:26  And if Satan rise up against himself, and be divided, he cannot stand, but hath an end.
Mar 3:27  No man can enter into a strong man's house, and spoil his goods, except he will first bind the strongman; and then he will spoil his house.

Here we learn a lesson that in order to plunder one's house you must first BIND up the strongman.  While we realize in this particular passage this is referring to God binding up the strongman (Satan) and this is how Satan's house is plundered.  But if you carefully analyze the enemy -- you realize that he uses the same tactics on us!  Your house cannot be plundered -- unless you are first bound.   And then Satan can plunder your house!

    • Abraham and Issac: Pictures of the Resurrection, Part 2
      Shalom everyone,

As we continue this series the next obvious sign of the resurrection in the Old Testament is the sign of Isaac and Abraham.

Gen 22:1  After these things God tested Abraham and said to him, "Abraham!" And he said, "Here I am."
Gen 22:2  He said, "Take your son, your only son Isaac, whom you love, and go to the land of Moriah, and offer him there as a burnt offering on one of the mountains of which I shall tell you."

So God "tests" Abraham and as a perfect picture of the coming sacrifice of God's only begotten Son (Yeshua - Jesus) God instructs Issac to go and sacrifice his son, Issac.  Where does he say to offer him?  On Moriah -- the exact location of the Temple Mount.
