The Bible is not a science book of any sort. Full stop.

Correctl The Bible is a history book.

the bible is a history book and a future book and it is also a science book full of secrets to the universe if you study the science of it.

A HA PET-scan (Positron Emission Tomography) is a scan of the brain that measures activity with and without selective medications being administered. There is a baseline scan done that shows the brain in various states - sleep, activity like playing a video game or reading, etc. There are sometimes subsequent scans done after the administration of drugs - thus, hyperactive Pt-Scans. It is a useful tool to show and measure brain activity and also shows injury if it is present. You are correct in saying that no 2 people are alike and it is hard, but not impossible to test for chemical imbalances such as serotonin levels. There are tests to show whether such chemicals are measurably present or not. If there is no appreciative or measurable amount of some chemical elements. Most forms of depression are associated with a deficiency of norepinephrine and/or serotonin at functionally important adrenergic or serotonergic receptors. When these receptors are regulated, there is a significant decrease in symptoms. It can take years for medications to be regulated and properly prescribed. But.. when they are - they are invaluable and they do help people.

I am familiar enough to know that a positron emission tomography...is a PET scan. (Gimme some credit...lol) What makes a PET scan...hyper-active? I've never heard of that type of PET scan...and neither has Google from my search results. Most of your reply correctly describes a general PET scan...but again...those are not used to diagnose patients before giving them drugs. PET scans on the mentally ill are generally only done as a method of study and as you have pointed out yourself...they are largely inconclusive.

Then, you make the leap of faith again in regards to depression and serotonin...despite the fact that that is a complete myth. There is simply no proof that a serotonin imbalance causes depression...no matter what the multi-billion dollar pharmaceutical industry may tell you. They can't even measure your serotonin, and if they could, they don't know how much you should have to avoid depression. In many countries, pharmaceutical drug companies have even been banned from using the term "chemical imbalance" because it is false advertising.

Of course...if depressed people think that taking a pill is helping them...should we care?

Why?

You'll just come back with a bunch of meaningless jibber jabber.

Your best bet is to just ignore me.

Grab a donut, kick back and watch the latest episode of COPS.

Wow...cops and donuts jokes. amazing... :24:

I'll tell ya what...you quit making incorrect and flawed statements...and I'll quit correcting them. Then you won't have to come back at me with insightful arguments like "whatever" and "jibber jabber"...not to mention junior high put-downs.

If you want to discuss the topic...then lets do it. :emot-highfive:

Well, while y'all are arguing, all this talk of donuts has made me hungry! Thanks a lot! :24:

i'm wondering "why" you're in this discussion at all, man. you've added little but criticisms and arguments with little to no foundation behind them. you ignore what you want to ignore (for "whatever" reason) and pick out phrases that have totally different meanings when used alone--and pounce on them. you don't reply to the message of a post, you reply to what you can criticize about it. you implied you took meds, and then you said you didn't. you don't come out and state your belief (possibly because you are afraid someone will do to you what you do to others?), you just put down the beliefs of others.

Because your doctrine is a flat out lie. You have nothing to base it on except maybe your own experience, and frankly, that means nothing. You're telling people who have depression that their illness is caused by demons and that if they would only get closer to God that those demons will go away. That's dangerous talk to someone who is suffering from depression. When I hear stuff like this, I think of the Salem Witch Trials.

What you're doing is spreading a lie, and trying to use the Word to back it up. That dangerous. Not only to the people who will listen to you, but also to yourself.

saying that someone should just ignore you is like saying, "i can say whatever i want and it's ok." we are accountable for our words, man. when you take a sentence or phrase out of context it is misleading, misconstruing, and quite frankly, dishonest. that's not an ok thing to do. and i really don't know why you continue to do it.

You bet we are and it would be good of you to heed those words.

Matthew 12

36 But I say to you that for every idle word men may speak, they will give account of it in the day of judgment.

37 For by your words you will be justified, and by your words you will be condemned.

"Generational curse" means "I don't understand genetics"

Why would you have problems with such a fundamental principle?

Who says it's a fundamental principle? It isn't.

Hi Deep:

I would have liked to reply sooner but I have been cut to pieces emotionally, mentally and physically and don't feel particularly inspired about the topic of illness. Except (ah there is always that) to say it's not what you get or what happens to you, it's how you handle it and deal with it that counts most. Also, I want to say I'm very impressed by you, this post, the amount of views and replies you inspired. Keep on blazing trails, my friend.

    • You are coming up higher in this season – above the assignments of character assassination and verbal arrows sent to manage you, contain you, and derail your purpose. Where you have had your dreams and sleep robbed, as well as your peace and clarity robbed – leaving you feeling foggy, confused, and heavy – God is, right now, bringing freedom back -- now you will clearly see the smoke and mirrors that were set to distract you and you will disengage.

Right now God is declaring a "no access zone" around you, and your enemies will no longer have any entry point into your life. Oil is being poured over you to restore the years that the locust ate and give you back your passion. This is where you will feel a fresh roar begin to erupt from your inner being, and a call to leave the trenches behind and begin your odyssey in your Christ calling moving you to bear fruit that remains as you minister to and disciple others into their Christ identity.

This is where you leave the trenches and scale the mountain to fight from a different place, from victory, from peace, and from rest. Now watch as God leads you up higher above all the noise, above all the chaos, and shows you where you have been seated all along with Him in heavenly places where you are UNTOUCHABLE. This is where you leave the soul fight, and the mind battle, and learn to fight differently.

You will know how to live like an eagle and lead others to the same place of safety and protection that God led you to, which broke you out of the silent prison you were in. Put your war boots on and get ready to fight back! Refuse to lay down -- get out of bed and rebuke what is coming at you. Remember where you are seated and live from that place.

Acts 1:8 - “But you will receive power when the Holy Spirit has come upon you, and you will be my witnesses … to the end of the earth.”

    • Understanding the Enemy!

I thought I write about the flip side of a topic, and how to recognize the attempts of the enemy to destroy lives and how you can walk in His victory!

For the Apostle Paul taught us not to be ignorant of enemy's tactics and strategies.

2 Corinthians 2:112  Lest Satan should get an advantage of us: for we are not ignorant of his devices.

So often, we can learn lessons by learning and playing "devil's" advocate.  When we read this passage,

Mar 3:26  And if Satan rise up against himself, and be divided, he cannot stand, but hath an end.
Mar 3:27  No man can enter into a strong man's house, and spoil his goods, except he will first bind the strongman; and then he will spoil his house.

Here we learn a lesson that in order to plunder one's house you must first BIND up the strongman.  While we realize in this particular passage this is referring to God binding up the strongman (Satan) and this is how Satan's house is plundered.  But if you carefully analyze the enemy -- you realize that he uses the same tactics on us!  Your house cannot be plundered -- unless you are first bound.   And then Satan can plunder your house!

    • Abraham and Issac: Pictures of the Resurrection, Part 2
      Shalom everyone,

As we continue this series the next obvious sign of the resurrection in the Old Testament is the sign of Isaac and Abraham.

Gen 22:1  After these things God tested Abraham and said to him, "Abraham!" And he said, "Here I am."
Gen 22:2  He said, "Take your son, your only son Isaac, whom you love, and go to the land of Moriah, and offer him there as a burnt offering on one of the mountains of which I shall tell you."

So God "tests" Abraham and as a perfect picture of the coming sacrifice of God's only begotten Son (Yeshua - Jesus) God instructs Issac to go and sacrifice his son, Issac.  Where does he say to offer him?  On Moriah -- the exact location of the Temple Mount.
