In an attempt to quash persistent rumors that President Obama was not born in Honolulu on Aug. 4, 1961, Hawaii's health director reiterated this afternoon that she has personally seen Obama's birth certificate in the Health Department's archives.

Hawaii state law prohibits release of the original certificate, or a certified copy, to anyone except the person named or his immediate family. If the state official says it's genuine, that's good enough for me. This stuff is just more of the politics of personal destruction, like what was done to Sarah Palin and her family.

When the press went after Palin, didn't they find a cop that had arrested her husband for a DUI like 10 years ago or something like that. And when they went after the plumber, weren't they able to dig stuff up like overnight???

Well, so why can' the press find someone who was actually there, you know, like the doctor that caught him, or the anesthetist, or the nurse...or maybe even the person who cleans up after....come on now they can't all be dead or suffer with senate hearing defendants disease.

It's interesting how the government of Hawaii continues to make such statements as though their word is supposed to sufficient. They may as well be saying "Trust me...wink wink".

"I ... have seen the original vital records maintained on file by the Hawaii State Department of Health verifying Barack Hussein Obama was born in Hawaii and is a natural-born American citizen," Health Director Dr. Chiyome Fukino said in a brief statement.

Here's how this "official" statement reads to me.

"I.....have seen Bigfoot's body being preserved at the Hawaii State Department of Health confirming that Bigfoot does in fact exist". Said the the Health Director in a brief statement.

Of course state law bars the release of such evidence to anyone who does not have a tangible interest. In other words, "You're on a need to know basis and you don't need to know". Perhaps next they will have someone from the Secret Service, the CIA, or better yet, a politician, make a similar statement.

I don't doubt that it's real...but what does it say? If Lou Dobbs at CNN is wrong about it being destroyed, then why is it impossible to produce?

This story isn't new btw...this same health official said this quite a while back. Not sure why I'm supposed to believe one person's word is enough when all it would take is $15 to show everyone else?

the question really is (and remains) why all the secrecy in showing such a common document?

The Obama people have spent almost a million dollars in the courts to prevent release of his birth certificate and other documents. Why is that. What does he have to hide. Just produce a certified copy and get it over with, for crying out loud. Oh, and by the way, he got a scholarship to school as a foreign student. Go figure that out.
