So, when everything is going wrong, what is going through your mind? Do you think at times it's just the devil won't get off our backs? Do you think at times it's because of sin in the world and that's "just the way it is?" Do you think at times it's because of our own sin?

I think at times...it is all of those things - sin of others, our own sin, the devil, etc. And if that's true...

What do you do to change things for the better? Is it a matter of just trusting God? Is it a matter of just changing something in ourselves? Or both? Or neither?

I'm curious to know everyone's thoughts about this. The reason being that it seems like I am in a rut of having bad things happen to me...things going wrong in my life. First, it was problems with my home. Then, it was problems with my body and health. And now, problems with driving and vehicles - I was in car accident #2 today in about 1-2 month time frame. I won't lie - I am very stressed out and even heart broken by the things that have been going wrong in my life lately. I know I am more vulnerable, too because my husband is deployed and he still won't be home until October. I am mostly happy, but I am breaking down inside because of the circumstances around me. It is easy to say I trust in the Lord and to read the Bible and to pray...but what do you do when you feel like you are running out of encouragement or even hope?

Thoughts and suggestions, please.

:emot-questioned: ... Wow, I was on the run and just placed the arrows there until I could get back to this post and forgot. I must of looked like some jerk for not replying in words. I am sorry.

Anyway, when things continue to just go wrong, I do find myself a bit discouraged, but, I always try to remember that this is just temporary, that God will never give me more then I can handle with Him and remember the verse in my signature. Most of the time, when I am in this situation, all I can do is wait on the Lord, which can be tough. During the times that are the hardest, I do things to take my mind off of them, like helping someone else. Not only do I bring a blessing to them, but I also receive a blessing.

Even though this is the first reply, I can see that you have received a lot of great advice.

God Bless,

Alan

HG - the rain falls on the righteous and the unrighteous.

Remember the lesson of Job? Job and everyone else thought it was his goodness that God blessed him for. When bad things happened, his friends kept telling him to repent . . . but Job had nothing to repent of! In the end it was discovered that God blessed Job because God is good. But Job was never told why he went through his suffering. So it is with us.

Now, if you are aware of a sin that needs repenting of, of course repent. But if not, then regard your hardships as discipline, for the Lord disciplines those He loves.

Give thanks in all circumstances, for this is the will of God in Christ Jesus for you.

Yeah, I know it's easier said than done. But this will please the Lord and strengthen your spiritual walk.

Remember the songs "Blessed Be Your Name" by Matt Redman and "Praise You in the Storm" by Casting Crowns?

It's what we got to do.

Yes, I know. I realize in this moment how easy it is to read the story of Job and rejoice about it...how easy it is to listen to the songs you mentioned and be encouraged...but sometimes when you are actually going through things...well, it's not easy! I just feel like I am at a breaking point and as I said I am more vulnerable because I don't have my husband here. It is very hard on me. :emot-questioned:

I try to think about the blessings. That I live in a free country, have drinking water straight from the tap, food, a comfy bed etc. And thank God for what I do have.

Also take some time to admire God's creation. Take a walk and hear the symphony of nature in the woods, admire some flowers - just appreciate the creativity and ingenuity and thank God for that too.

I would suggest you read the thread entitled "Light and Shadows" started by Traveller. :emot-questioned:

Maybe God is wanting you to increase your faith and walk with Him. I think many of us are guilty of looking to other people to meet our needs. I once read some where that The happiest people in the world are not those who have no problems, but the people who have learned to live with those things that are less than perfect. Our walk counts far more than our talk, always! Praying for you.:thumbsup:

When I find self at this feeling you are talking about because I am, I just get on my knees and tell the father in heaven the truth.

When the words don't come out to say,I ask him to read my heart and pray that his will be done in the name Of Jesus.

The Father does not wants us to suffer so we lay this in his mighty hand with faith that he will help us.

The evil one wants us so down that we lose the will to stand back up.

The Father through Christ our Lord will stand you up honey.

I had thought about that, too. I do feel like I get caught up in the day to day sometimes and I don't always give Him the attention He is worthy of. ~sigh~ It's hard sometimes, because honestly I have just been so discouraged lately and today just pushed me down harder. I just hope something good will come of this time...

    • You are coming up higher in this season – above the assignments of character assassination and verbal arrows sent to manage you, contain you, and derail your purpose. Where you have had your dreams and sleep robbed, as well as your peace and clarity robbed – leaving you feeling foggy, confused, and heavy – God is, right now, bringing freedom back -- now you will clearly see the smoke and mirrors that were set to distract you and you will disengage.

Right now God is declaring a "no access zone" around you, and your enemies will no longer have any entry point into your life. Oil is being poured over you to restore the years that the locust ate and give you back your passion. This is where you will feel a fresh roar begin to erupt from your inner being, and a call to leave the trenches behind and begin your odyssey in your Christ calling moving you to bear fruit that remains as you minister to and disciple others into their Christ identity.

This is where you leave the trenches and scale the mountain to fight from a different place, from victory, from peace, and from rest. Now watch as God leads you up higher above all the noise, above all the chaos, and shows you where you have been seated all along with Him in heavenly places where you are UNTOUCHABLE. This is where you leave the soul fight, and the mind battle, and learn to fight differently.

You will know how to live like an eagle and lead others to the same place of safety and protection that God led you to, which broke you out of the silent prison you were in. Put your war boots on and get ready to fight back! Refuse to lay down -- get out of bed and rebuke what is coming at you. Remember where you are seated and live from that place.

Acts 1:8 - “But you will receive power when the Holy Spirit has come upon you, and you will be my witnesses … to the end of the earth.”

    • Understanding the Enemy!

I thought I write about the flip side of a topic, and how to recognize the attempts of the enemy to destroy lives and how you can walk in His victory!

For the Apostle Paul taught us not to be ignorant of enemy's tactics and strategies.

2 Corinthians 2:112  Lest Satan should get an advantage of us: for we are not ignorant of his devices.

So often, we can learn lessons by learning and playing "devil's" advocate.  When we read this passage,

Mar 3:26  And if Satan rise up against himself, and be divided, he cannot stand, but hath an end.
Mar 3:27  No man can enter into a strong man's house, and spoil his goods, except he will first bind the strongman; and then he will spoil his house.

Here we learn a lesson that in order to plunder one's house you must first BIND up the strongman.  While we realize in this particular passage this is referring to God binding up the strongman (Satan) and this is how Satan's house is plundered.  But if you carefully analyze the enemy -- you realize that he uses the same tactics on us!  Your house cannot be plundered -- unless you are first bound.   And then Satan can plunder your house!

    • Abraham and Issac: Pictures of the Resurrection, Part 2
      Shalom everyone,

As we continue this series the next obvious sign of the resurrection in the Old Testament is the sign of Isaac and Abraham.

Gen 22:1  After these things God tested Abraham and said to him, "Abraham!" And he said, "Here I am."
Gen 22:2  He said, "Take your son, your only son Isaac, whom you love, and go to the land of Moriah, and offer him there as a burnt offering on one of the mountains of which I shall tell you."

So God "tests" Abraham and as a perfect picture of the coming sacrifice of God's only begotten Son (Yeshua - Jesus) God instructs Issac to go and sacrifice his son, Issac.  Where does he say to offer him?  On Moriah -- the exact location of the Temple Mount.
