Living in California I deal with many atheists. Some are kind and respectful, some not so much. One of the less kind ones (a liberal arts major, a self professed "intellectual elite") got in a deep dig the other day. She told me that words Sunday, Monday, Tuesday, Wednesday, Thursday and Friday invoke Norse deities. Saturday is a little different, Saturday invokes a Greek deity. Is this true? How can I reconcile this? How do I live my life for Christ when I speak, write and think pagan incantations?

The same way you lived your life before you met this self proclaimed know-it-all.

The devil will do and say anything to try and make our walk just a little bit harder. Instead of reacting as if you were committing some kind of mortal sin, simply smile and thank them for the information.

A lot of christian traditions have pagan roots. Christmas day, for example. But we do not honor the pagan roots, we have our own intended meaning when we use the words or the celebration. When you say "Monday" you mean nothing more than the day after "Sunday". You personally are not invoking any kind of pagan ideal. So don't let it concern you.

Dude

Be still, and know that I am God: I will be exalted among the heathen, I will be exalted in the earth.

Psalms 46:10

First You MUST Believe

And as Moses lifted up the serpent in the wilderness, even so must the Son of man be lifted up:

That whosoever believeth in him should not perish, but have eternal life.

For God so loved the world, that he gave his only begotten Son, that whosoever believeth in him should not perish, but have everlasting life.

John 3:14-16

Or Perish

For God sent not his Son into the world to condemn the world; but that the world through him might be saved.

He that believeth on him is not condemned: but he that believeth not is condemned already, because he hath not believed in the name of the only begotten Son of God.

And this is the condemnation, that light is come into the world, and men loved darkness rather than light, because their deeds were evil.

John 3:17-19

You Must Confess

That if thou shalt confess with thy mouth the Lord Jesus, and shalt believe in thine heart that God hath raised him from the dead, thou shalt be saved.

For with the heart man believeth unto righteousness; and with the mouth confession is made unto salvation.

John 10:9-10

To Live

Rejoice evermore.

Pray without ceasing.

In every thing give thanks: for this is the will of God in Christ Jesus concerning you.

1 Thessalonians 5:16-18

>>>>>()<<<<<

Praying For You

Love, Joe

Then said I, Woe is me! for I am undone; because I am a man of unclean lips, and I dwell in the midst of a people of unclean lips: for mine eyes have seen the King, the LORD of hosts.

Then flew one of the seraphims unto me, having a live coal in his hand, which he had taken with the tongs from off the altar:

And he laid it upon my mouth, and said, Lo, this hath touched thy lips; and thine iniquity is taken away, and thy sin purged.

Also I heard the voice of the Lord, saying, Whom shall I send, and who will go for us? Then said I, Here am I; send me.

Isaiah 6:5-8

The best way I can think og this situation is thus:

A general from a pagan culture/nation came to a prophet of God (I'm pretty sure it was Elisha) for healing. The Lord gave Elisha the instructions the man needed to be healed, and when the general followed through, he was healed.

Afterward, he pledge to serve and worship only the Lord who had healed him - but he asked for one pardon. At times the (old) king needed the general's help to bow down to his gods. As the servant of the king it was his duty to assist the king. The general asked for a pardon in just this - that his own kneeling was to serve his master and not to worship. The general was granted this pardon.

In the same way, I believe, we are stuck with these names. Now the Lord isn't an ogre, you know. I believe He extends grace and pardon for such as these in which we have no control over.

Ask the Lord for wisdom and peace in this. If it bothers you enough, perhaps you can ask Him to give you new names to call them.

Be blessed

that's easy if you really want to know...

If your conscience is really convicted about it, don't ever talk or write again.

Give pseudo-elites the same treatment I give them....a blank stare. Showing no reaction or interest is like kicking them in their intellectual shins. They deflate. :)

You might want to reconsider this link; if you look to the right side of the video you will see what I mean.....

Actually those aren't "old english" words...they came from Saxony in Germany. Those are ancient nordic (northern) gods, not exclusively english ones.

I always liked the comic strip hero of Thor. He was cool.

You can do as the hebrews and call the days by their number....1, 2, 3, etc...but no one will be able to understand you. Communication demands that people understand the terms one uses so, while it is possible, you will be spending minutes explaining what could be done in a nanosecond using terms that are commonly accepted.

It doesn't mean you worship Thor to say the word "Thors Day"

But again....if you feel convicted about it...don't say it.

    • You are coming up higher in this season – above the assignments of character assassination and verbal arrows sent to manage you, contain you, and derail your purpose. Where you have had your dreams and sleep robbed, as well as your peace and clarity robbed – leaving you feeling foggy, confused, and heavy – God is, right now, bringing freedom back -- now you will clearly see the smoke and mirrors that were set to distract you and you will disengage.

Right now God is declaring a "no access zone" around you, and your enemies will no longer have any entry point into your life. Oil is being poured over you to restore the years that the locust ate and give you back your passion. This is where you will feel a fresh roar begin to erupt from your inner being, and a call to leave the trenches behind and begin your odyssey in your Christ calling moving you to bear fruit that remains as you minister to and disciple others into their Christ identity.

This is where you leave the trenches and scale the mountain to fight from a different place, from victory, from peace, and from rest. Now watch as God leads you up higher above all the noise, above all the chaos, and shows you where you have been seated all along with Him in heavenly places where you are UNTOUCHABLE. This is where you leave the soul fight, and the mind battle, and learn to fight differently.

You will know how to live like an eagle and lead others to the same place of safety and protection that God led you to, which broke you out of the silent prison you were in. Put your war boots on and get ready to fight back! Refuse to lay down -- get out of bed and rebuke what is coming at you. Remember where you are seated and live from that place.

Acts 1:8 - “But you will receive power when the Holy Spirit has come upon you, and you will be my witnesses … to the end of the earth.”

    • George Whitten, the visionary behind Worthy Ministries and Worthy News, explores the timing of the Simchat Torah War in Israel. Is this a water-breaking moment? Does the timing of the conflict on October 7 with Hamas signify something more significant on the horizon?

    • Understanding the Enemy!

I thought I write about the flip side of a topic, and how to recognize the attempts of the enemy to destroy lives and how you can walk in His victory!

For the Apostle Paul taught us not to be ignorant of enemy's tactics and strategies.

2 Corinthians 2:112  Lest Satan should get an advantage of us: for we are not ignorant of his devices.

So often, we can learn lessons by learning and playing "devil's" advocate.  When we read this passage,

Mar 3:26  And if Satan rise up against himself, and be divided, he cannot stand, but hath an end.
Mar 3:27  No man can enter into a strong man's house, and spoil his goods, except he will first bind the strongman; and then he will spoil his house.

Here we learn a lesson that in order to plunder one's house you must first BIND up the strongman.  While we realize in this particular passage this is referring to God binding up the strongman (Satan) and this is how Satan's house is plundered.  But if you carefully analyze the enemy -- you realize that he uses the same tactics on us!  Your house cannot be plundered -- unless you are first bound.   And then Satan can plunder your house!

    • Abraham and Issac: Pictures of the Resurrection, Part 2
      Shalom everyone,

As we continue this series the next obvious sign of the resurrection in the Old Testament is the sign of Isaac and Abraham.

Gen 22:1  After these things God tested Abraham and said to him, "Abraham!" And he said, "Here I am."
Gen 22:2  He said, "Take your son, your only son Isaac, whom you love, and go to the land of Moriah, and offer him there as a burnt offering on one of the mountains of which I shall tell you."

So God "tests" Abraham and as a perfect picture of the coming sacrifice of God's only begotten Son (Yeshua - Jesus) God instructs Issac to go and sacrifice his son, Issac.  Where does he say to offer him?  On Moriah -- the exact location of the Temple Mount.
